Greetings everyone,

You have all been so chatty today. I came home to 78 messages in my inbox hehe.

I tried to write this out yesterday and I just could not do it. Maybe today I will have better luck. I really did enjoy reading Morgana's story and I think you are wonderful.

I have always been a Reiki user even if I did not know what this was. I would always use my natural channels to heal animals who had been hurt and when I had children to use this same energy to help them. I have been prone to migraines all my life and I have used this energy to help with them. A few years ago I started to hear about Reiki. I found that there was a person in my town who taught a course in Reiki and I looked into it. Things did not really pan out as they wanted to charge a great deal of money and I did not feel comfortable around their energy. Needless to say I did not take the course from them.

A year went by and then I began to have a deep need to take Reiki and as Moragana said when the student is ready the teacher appears. I was given a contact to a Master Reiki teacher through a friend of mine and began to study. What I liked about the courses I was taking is that she had me practice before my attunements. I was able to read a great deal of information and I was able to practice. My family became my guinea pigs. The one thing I did notice was that my way of Being Reiki was very different than what I thought. I studied hard and became attuned to level 1. After my level 1 I began to do treatments on my friends. When I had my level two treatment I began to use Reiki in a way that made me feel useful. I know that sounds silly but that is the only way I can describe it.

I am a teacher and I work in a school that has a great deal of hurting students. With my Reiki attunements and with my teaching I began to see ways to help. I Reiki my classroom every day and usually multiple times a day. I follow the teachings when I interact with them and with others. The one thing that stuck with me is the mantra I was give "For today only, anger not, worry not, be kind and humble. Enjoy the work that you do. For today only be gentle and generous." This simple mantra has taught me how to see th world. I know that that Reiki is not about what you can do and what the outcome is. Reiki is about Being Reiki and it is about joining with the Universe. For me the best times are when I sit and do Reiki. I feel a connection that cannot be felt any other way.

I Must ask,
How many different brancehs or styles of Reiki are
there? Are they all branched from an original style or
all different aspects of the whole?
Im interested as the discussions are a bit confusing
to me and id like to know a bit more if anyone can say
anything or send a link up maybe?

MM Morgana,
to be hoenst, i am totally new to Reiki so i have no
experience or story to share.
I can tell you i heard about Reiki form my MArtial
Arts instructor about a year ago and we shared some
experiences as i was studying the first degree and we
were working with the chakras? We sort of tried a few
things to see how we would react which was good but i
really wanted to delve more deeply into Reiki as i am
interested in both the physical and philosophical side
to it (if there are both, im talking purely trhough
guesswork. Total newbie:) )
Anyway, cant wait for thigns to get started,

This type of energetic (energy) healing is often done by people instinctively - mothers who cuddle their children when they are hurt, and so on.The trick is to learn a technique or get a Reiki attunement to allow the energy to be channelled without depleting your own resources.

If you are not a Reiki channel then you need to actively call in energy mentally as you heal, and imagine it coming in through the crown of your head and going out through your hands, this way you will be channelling this healing energy, rather than using your own energy.

We will talk more about channelling energy as DragonAngel and I work on our lesson plan for the weeks to come,

I had this discussion with a friend of mine and he said that if you can do treatments via distance then why not attunements. I have not had the pleasure of a face-to-face attunement and would like to have this experience to compare to. I think that it depends on you and how you feel about this. I mean I also do long distance readings and find that I am able to tap into the person. I think that as long as you do not limit yourself then you can do anything and long distance attunements and treatments are the same.

My attunements were done long distance and the one thing I can say is that I always had strange dreams when I had my attunements. I did not go through the healing crisis for my first level but did get very sick after my second attunement. Nothing with the third one.

As for the tarot cards with treatments What I do is I have a map of the body and I will lay a card on each of the chakras. The card is the healing message needed to be given. When I shuffle I shuffle over the body and any cards that drop or jump I notice what they are and where they hit as these will be very specific to the person.

Hello everyone,

I though I would break the ice here with my own Reiki journey - it would be great if we could share our own healing journeys here - what brought you to this time in your life, whether you are a Reiki channel, or whether you have an interest in healing - everyone has a story......

My own story of my journey to Reiki goes like this -

I have always been interested in healing and believed strongly, especially as a mother, that I was able to ease my children's pain by putting my hands on the hurt. I have a tendency to use herbal and simple "old-fashioned" remedies for many common ailments and have found them successful - for example I use lavender oil for most cuts as it is an antiseptic and strong healer; honey is used for beestings (unless people have an allergy) I use spider's webs as temporary band aids to close small wounds (it is antiseptic as well) and so on.

My friend and I visited a Psychic Fair Adelaide, South Australia, one year and found a group of Reiki healers demonstrating healing. We sat down for a demo and each had a Reiki channel behind us with their hands on our shoulders. The heat from their hands was amazing and calming and made me feel wonderful. I also picked up a pain I hadn't had before, and this was coming from my friend (kind of channelled across to me for some reason).

I picked up some information on Reiki attunements in the hope of learning more.

We went to a small seminar at the psychic fair and learned a bit more about this type of energy healing/channelling.

Although I was keen to have an attunement I wasn't keen on joining a huge group of people in an auditorium to go through what appeared should be a spiritual experience - it just didn't feel comfortable. The two-day process (which included seminars - the attunement doesn't take two days) was in Adelaide, and I lived in a rural area over 100kms away, so this was another drawback - as was the huge cost.

I was still very interested in getting an attunement, but resigned myself to saving up and waiting for a smaller group situation in which I would be more comfortable and also something more affordable.

As the old saying goes "when the student is ready the teacher will come". About six months later I was asked by my husband to interview a kick boxing teacher in Clare to give her a bit of publicity (I'm a journalist in the mundane world). The woman's partner worked with my husband, and mentioned that the kick boxing club needed a bit of a boost in the community. I was happy to oblige, as a story is a story, and a woman kick boxing champion seemed a good one.

I called in to the Hall and met Katie - she was a slender little woman with her hair in pigtails, wiry and tough and at the same time very feminine. She looked about 16 years old.

We began talking and hit it off straight away (Katie in her 30s and me in my late 40s). Within the first 10 minutes we somehow got to talking about Reiki and I still cannot remember how this conversation thread came about, as it had nothing to do with kick boxing!. Katie told me she was a Reiki master and on the spur of the moment (it seemed to me) she offered to attune me to Level One Reiki.

I was stunned. She wanted to do the attunement on a one-to-one basis and expected an appropriate gift from me as the energy exchange. She would do the attunement at her home. We set a date. On the day I bartered a huge piece of rose quartz and a smaller piece of orange calcite for the most amazing experience of my life.

Everyone feels and experiences something different during an attunement. I had colourful "visions" of swirling clouds, became emotional, energised and elated in waves. My diary note of the attunement said in part "An amazing, but loving experience."

My teacher had found me.

A year later I was attuned to Level 2 (there are some reasons for this long gap which I'll explain another day), again by Katie, and then a year after that received my Master's attunement. Becoming a Master has given me the knowledge to pass attunements on others.

I have studied hard in the intervening years and since my Masters' attunement and love passing on what I have learned to others.

All my attunements have been face to face, and my healings are done either by distance or personally. I have had some powerful results with distant healing techniques.

When I give Reiki I don't usually add other systems in, but tend to use Reiki when I am healing using other systems - if this makes sense. What I mean to say is that when I give a Reiki healing, I focus just on the Reiki energy. but when I give, say a crystal or drum healing, I will pull in Reiki energy to help with these modalities.

I have used tarot cards (single card pull, usually) to help focus on emotional issues which clients may have and to help in their clearing and healing.

For a quick boost healing I will just reiki the chakras, which balances and clears really well.

I would love to hear of your attunement experiences,and especially about how you use tarot cards with your attunements.

I have recently had my Level 3 attunement with Usui Reiki. I have been working towards this for over a year and I am so happy to have achieved this level. I am looking forward to learning and working with all of you. I look forward to learning different techniques, styles and anything else you want to share.
