Welcome to Black History Month 2010! Usually I let it come
and go with internal reflection and silent congratulatory
"thank you's" for any of the small strides that have panned
out over the years. This year, unfortunately, the lack of our
representation as comic book characters as well as the subtle
devaluation of them in the medium of comics, has given me
pause to post and have published, a commentary that we still
have a very long way to go.

In this second year of a Black President, I find us being defiled
and marginalized more than usual. Could it be a backlash to
there being a Black President or are Americans so distraught
about their economic plight that they're taking it out on the
ever handy 'negro.'

Don't dispair. This is only a personal exploration and will
only remain listed on this cover page for the '2010 Black
History Month'. The article will remain in the archive section,
so we never forget, but we'll be back to our regular form next
month. I'm just keeping it real fans. If we, as Americans, can't
look at our 'dark' history together, see it for what was and move
past it, then Obama's winning is just another 'token' victory in
another long line of things; full of sound and fury, signifying
nothing.
