Discussion group dedicated to creating a safe and sustainable transport system within Scotland using Maglev and/or monorail.
The photos on this site are from the sites of Transrapid International and Transrapid-USA.
The Phase 1 alignment proposal is between Aberdeen and Fraserburgh, calling at Ellon and Peterhead.
I beleive that we need a maglev system in the area because of many reasons, some of which are listed below.
1. This corridor has no form of public transport other than bus and the route into Aberdeen is continually congested during peak hours, mainly with private transport.
2. Due to the distances involved, the use of vehicles from Fraserburgh has dropped sharply, leaving many people unable to travel to Aberdeen and beyond.
3. The changing climate is making travel within the area continually harder to undertake. Road closures due to floods, snow etc. leaves many people unable to get to work at all.
A profile of travel between Aberdeen and Fraserburgh is contained within the Files section and to illustrate the differences in travel time between the stops, I have created a listing in the database section of this site. They are both startling and supprising and well worth a look.
