Subject: Salmond betrays Scottish independence for the Union of the Crowns

The SNP: a right-wing monarchist, unionist party?
http://scot.tk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1788#1788

Is the Scottish National Party a right-wing, monarchist, unionist party telling
lies about Scottish independence?

It seems to me the pro-monarchy, pro-Union-of-the-Crowns leadership of Alex
Salmond raises a question and discussion point about the appropriate description
of the "Scottish National Party" - and that "a centre-left nationalist political
party committed to Scottish independence" is not being represented by Salmond.

Monarchy is a right-wing idea. Salmond by publishing right-wing monarchist
documents is not representing centre-left views in any way.

The Union of the Crowns, a monarchical and social union and united kingdoms are
all unionist ideas. Salmond by publishing unionist documents is not representing
an honest commitment to Scottish national independence.

Listening to Salmond and reading his documents, you would suppose that if he was
leading a party it would have to be a right-wing, monarchist, unionist party.

It seems to me there are two approaches to analysing this question.

Quote: Approach 1.

Assume that the self-description of the party, what the party says about itself
in its party name, in its party constitution

- in the case of the SNP, (a) that the party is a Scottish nationalist party (b)
that it is left of centre, left-leaning and so on,

- in the case of the British Labour Party (a) that the party represents the
interest of Labour, trade unions and the workers (b) it is a democratic
socialist party

are fair; assume that those self-descriptions are true and correct.

In which case when the party leaders or documents lead in a pro-monarchist
direction absolutely contradicting the core true values of the party, as they
do, then those leaders do not speak for their parties, their leadership is
UNCONSTITUTIONAL and ILLEGITIMATE as far as the party is concerned.

Quote: Approach 2.

Assume that when the party leaders and documents lead in a pro-monarchist
direction that this direction is the true core value of the party. The party is
in fact whatever the leader says it is.

In which case the party name, the party constitution and so on are meaningless.
The SNP or Labour stand for whatever the leader SAYS it stands for - and if the
leader supports the right-wing idea of monarchy then the party is a right-wing
monarchist party.

However mostly I don't think people DO analyse such contradictions in party
leaders and party declared "principles". They just watch the story on TV then
they watch the next story on TV. It all kind of washes over people.

Not only is monarchy right-wing it is also against national independence - since
an independent nation elects its own head of state and is not TOLD who its head
of state is.

Also in opposing the true independence of the Scottish nation, by going along
with the subjugation and enslavement of the Scots to the imposed head of state,
Queen Elizabeth, and that being very much against the interests of the nation,
the SNP royalist leaders certainly and possibly also the party (depending on
which of the two above analysis approaches one takes) ARE NOT THEREFORE
"NATIONALISTS" BUT TRAITORS AGAINST THE NATION!

The Mormon Church (LDS or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) is
well known for their collection of genealogy records.
There are many ways you can find information on genealogy records:
1. Search the Mormon Church's huge genealogy record collection using a free
genealogy search engine. You will find searches, indexes and a bottomless amount
of helpful information on how to find genealogy records. There are many free
genealogy sites on the internet you must bookmark and cannot be without.
2. The Latter Day Saints Church offers this free booklet to assist you in
searching for your roots.
Tips:
You want to collect and collate as much information as you can. It is most
exciting to start with your self and then turn toward the other members of your
present generation followed by people of your immediately previous generation
like Father and Mother, then go up one level at a time. Keep digging on as much
as possible to reach the possible root of your family tree.
What sort of information do you require? The answer is simple. Name, Date and
Place of Birth, Other Members in the family, marriage date and the details about
the spouse, Date and place of death of an Individual. You must try to find out
the ancestral village of the members and their occupation - both in present and
the past.
There is much information contained in databases, but finding what you are
searching for can be tricky. Be sure to try various spellings of the surname and
first name. Even try using first initials if you can't find the person you are
searching for by using their full name. Checking "Exact Spelling" will search
for the name spelled in ONLY the way you have entered it in the search engine
and therefore will put a limit on results.
Morman Genealogy research can be completed through thorough research. It is easy
to find a site which links to the majority of the Morman surname data on the
web, as well as to individual Morman family trees, Morman origin and Morman
meaning if known, and many other Morman genealogy resources.
I have created a website which collects articles, information and resources
which you can use to help you in your search. Please visit Mormon Genealogy.
Good luck!

Subject: Online Genealogy Search - Uncover Your Family History
majiemhhlbdy
Send Email Send Email

Tracing your ancestry and family tree is something very challenging and yet very
rewarding. It is an exciting discovery to uncover your family history and find
out to whom you are related. It is a journey to know about your ancestors who
are responsible for your existence today.
Maybe you are hearing stories about your family and conducting a genealogy
search will uncover your family history to confirm about the tales you've been
hearing. It is normal for people to be curious about the real stories of their
families. Who knows you might be related to some famous people and that is
really, really exciting. Most importantly, genealogy search will allow you to
map your family tree to keep your family history intact for future generations.
It could be very challenging and involves a lot of research to uncover your
family history. There are things that could make your family history complicated
like marriages, divorces and adoptions. Records maybe forgotten and old family
members may not be here anymore to share stories.
You may think that it will take months to uncover your family history if you are
going to unearth dusty documents and archives from libraries, government
records, etc. You have to dig about births, deaths, marriages records and a lot
more. Maybe in the old days, that would be the case but now with the presence of
internet, things are a lot easier.
Now with the power of the internet, information that will take months to gather
to uncover your family history will be a lot faster and you will get results
immediately. Getting at the bottom of buried family history and traditions is no
longer a difficult task now. You can easily uncover your family history through
online genealogy search that will help you understand more about your ancestors
and where you came from.

Subject: How to Conduct Genealogy Research Online
majiemhhlbdy
Send Email Send Email

The Internet has information that can solve many mysteries. For instance, if you
are interested in creating a family tree, or would like to fill in the missing
pieces of your pedigree, it is quite possible for you to find information on the
ancestors you are looking for by conducting your genealogy research online.
However, before you can begin your search, you will require certain details to
successfully complete your investigation, such as:
-The name of the person you wish to lookup
- Their current or past place of residence
- Any important dates: date of birth, death, marriage
- Names of other family members
- Occupation
Although you may not know all of these details, you will at least require the
name and any other specific information you can find on your relative or
ancestor. If you are having trouble finding any resources in your home, ask
other family members to see if they can provide you with any helpful clues.
Once you have collected the facts, the next step is to use an online search
engine to provide you with assistance. Enter the name of your relative into the
query box along with the word "genealogy". If an enormous list of results is
returned, which is very likely, you can attempt to focus your search and improve
your results by using different symbols and phrase searching. This can be done
as follows:
Use the plus (+) symbol - This informs the search engine that you want to find
pages that feature every word you entered, and not only some of them (I.E.
john+smith+genealogy).
Use the minus (-) symbol - By including this symbol in your query, you tell the
search engine you are looking for pages that have one word, but not another. For
instance, if the surname of the person you are searching is Rose, you don't want
to be inundated with results that relate to flowers, gardening, and so on.
Therefore, to cut down on the number of unrelated results, you could enter
rose-flowers-gardening into the query box.
Phrase searching - In order to conduct a phrase search, you simply enter the
name in quotations (I.E. "john smith"). When you surround a phrase in quotations
you are notifying the search engine that you only want websites that feature
this exact phrase.
In the event that a search engine does not help you locate information on your
ancestor, you can run a more specific genealogy search by using a website that
has a public records database. These sites may have the pedigree facts you want.
However, keep in mind that the more details you can provide about your ancestor
(I.E. year they were born, etc.), the more refined and effective your search
will be.

Thanks for publicizing the group, Tod.

Since the old list was overrun by spam and the old moderator wasn't doing
anything to block it, I started a new list. Its e-mail address
is scottish_war_prisoners@yahoogroups.com (same as the old address but with
underscores between scottish, war and prisoners).. Some of the people on the old
list didn't join the new list so it is much smaller (only 33 members) and has
not been as active as the old list.

Send your e-mail address to me at eleahall@... and I'll send you an

To avoid getting spam from the old list, set up your e-mail to block the old

what happened to the moderator of the old group. The new list will not have
spam, since as moderator I approve of every e-mail before it is sent to the
group.

There is a lot of group information available for the new list,
at http://groups. yahoo.com/ group/scottish_ war_prisoners. Under Files, there
are several useful files from NEHGR (New England Historical and Genealogical
Research), including, on p. 378, the list of passengers on the John and Sarah,
one of the main ships that brought Scottish War Prisoners. On Links, most of the
links don't work (do you know what they should be?), but the link to Scottish
Research does work and has a lot of useful links.

Most of this information was provided by Teresa Rust, who has done more for the
group than I have.

After you have joined the list, would you like to provide information on your
SWP ancestor and maybe get additional information from others? Please send an
e-mail to scottish_war_prisoners@yahoogroups.com, and tell us about your
interests (who was your Scottish war prisoners ancestor, etc.). Any info you
have to share with the group would be welcome.

Best,

Eleanor Ross Hall (Ellie), Group Moderator
