Re: [ScienceCentralRobotics] UNI

Tracy,

I was thinking that it was too bad that Blackout could not do that 180 degree turn at the start of a match that has been successful against ExSpurt in the past.  The results might have been different.  How about two buttons on Blackout, one button for normal competitors and another button when the opponent is ExSpurt?

I heard from Dale again.  He says that the students are getting together and forming a robot group at UNI.  Perhaps we will see some alumni entries next year.

Rick,

Yes I received Blackout today - still in one piece.

Congratulations on the win!  Exspurt just looks more impressive every time I see it.

Thank you so much for all of your encouragement and help.  I was very glad to have Blackout stay working for the first time.  No stage fright!  Woo hoo!  Now on to other robots.

What did you think of the students' robots?  Much better this year I think.

I sort of punted with the MOSFETs for Blackout and went with the L298 (I already had it mostly done).  Even with 2 amps/channel and a large heat sink I still managed to over heat the L298 once in practice.  My new lite sumo will be all MOSFETs he he he...

I have a used 55t motor on the way for the rover so I'll see how that works.

Tracy, Still no videos. Apparently ExSpurt won UNI with Thin Man (by Bob Cook, Vancouver, with relatives in Fort Wayne) in second. Almost time to leave for...

Rick, Yes - I saw the tail end. Congratulations! I think ExSpurt's handlers were more in tune with your intended instructions this year. Thin Man is an...

Rick, I managed to record the live broadcast. It is pretty choppy in parts and locks up at the final match. If you are interested, I could try to upload it...

Rick, Yes - from what I could tell.  Blackout did a few weird things in the matches I saw, but it didn't just stop moving like it has in every other...

Tracy, No more stage fright? That is a major accomplishment, particularly when the robot is so far away! I compare this to sending a landing craft to the moon...
