Description

The Saranaloka Foundation supports Western Theravada Buddhist nuns in the Forest Tradition of Ajahn Chah and Ajahn Sumedho when they are visiting in the United States. Four senior nuns in this tradition--Ajahn Thanasanti, Ajahn Metta, Ajahn Anandabodhi, and Ajahn Santacitta--are currently working toward the vision of creating a permanent monastery for nuns on the West Coast. (The foundation has a separate Yahoo group called Saranaloka.)

This San Francisco Bay Area group focuses specifically on supporting the nuns during their visits to our local area and on investigating the possibility of locating the planned nuns community in the greater Bay Area.

If you would like to be a part of supporting the nuns to visit and perhaps eventually create their new monastery in the Bay Area, then please join this group to get involved and stay informed.
