Description
I have met many Jewish leaders possessing great vision and kindness. But only one leader has stepped forward nearly two years and after thousands are dead on both sides with a critical vision of Israel, Edgar Bronfman, Sr.
Where have all the other Jewish leaders gone?
1) Jewish leadership in the Diaspora has failed to lead Jews everywhere politically post 9/11 and with the Israel crises.
2) We are exploited by our own political self-deception.
This group will act as a network and watchdog of Jewish organizations worldwide. It is intended as a forum for independent and free thinking people who seek understanding and demand change. Where the Israeli government cannot or will not go politically, we can be the way to the other side.
Israel includes the Diaspora but the Diaspora must learn to rule itself.
3) Thus, what is the evidence of Jewish organizations and leaders not meeting their goals? What impedes these leaders and organizations? How can we overcome these impediments? We want to cut through the myth of the Jewish Leader and organization as all knowing and powerful. We want the Jewish organizations and leaders to be responsible to us; and, if not, we should let them know we will not be taken for granted.
4) We need and invite Jewish leaders already in public service with political knowledge to guide and fill the void of leadership in the Jewish world. We need to put an end to leadership as defined by Jewish communal service or social work, which exists today. These backgrounds are not sufficient to confront the political crises to come.
5)We will not be free until we recognize that we have sacrificed too much of our ideas, too much of our culture, too much of ourselves, as Jews to our own security.
"For our captors asked us there for songs,
our tormentors, for amusement
sing us one of the songs of Zion.
How can we sing a song of Zion on alien soil?"
Psalm 137 3-4
If we are far from truth
Can we learn a true song?
