As clinical studies have demonstrated, oral urine or urea can be just as
effective for non-emergency cases as injected urine. And, as doctors themselves
have commented, oral urine therapy can be used at safely and effectively at home

AUTO-URINE INJECTIONS: "ANTIGEN RECEPTOR VACCINATION"

This form of therapy is extensively used at the William Hitt Center. It is
helpful in most diseases, for the reasons explained below.

Antigen Receptor Vaccination takes advantage of the immunologically important
substances found in urine. Urine is nothing but the product of filtration of the
blood by the kidneys. In other words, everything found in urine—everything—was
circulating through your brain and heart just minutes before showing up in the
bladder. The important part is that immune proteins (molecules your body uses to
control immune reactions) arrive in large quantities in the urine, after leaving
the bloodstream. These proteins (explained below) include antigen receptors, T
cell suppressor factors, Interferon gamma, Interleukin 1 and others.

Antigen Receptor Vaccination is performed by obtaining a sample of a patient's
fresh urine, adding a small amount of the anesthetic lidocaine, then injecting
3-10 cc of the solution into the muscle tissue. To prevent possible bacterial
infection, the solution passes through a sterilizing syringe filter prior to
injection. Injection can be done everyday or once a week, depending on the
disease being treated.

How Antigen Receptor Vaccination Works

Allergy

Allergic reactions occur when an antigen (the substance causing the allergy,
like cat dander or ragweed) is brought into the body. The antigen triggers an
antigen receptor—an antibody-like protein that is designed to let the body know
when the antigen shows up. So, a person who is allergic to cats has many antigen
receptors ready to go and waiting for exposure to cats. Once the antigen
receptor has been triggered, it signals the "B cell" to start production of
antibodies and the allergic reaction, while the receptor itself is jettisoned
into the circulation where many of them will eventually go to the urine.

Injecting these spent antigen receptors back into the patient's muscle and fat
tissue has two effects. The first is to cause "T suppressor" cells to be formed,
which helps calm down the allergic reaction very quickly. The other effect is
the body making antibody to the injected antigen receptors, which over a few
weeks of weekly injections will allow antibodies to cover up the antigen
receptors on the "B cells" and thereby cause long-term suppression of allergy.

Chemical sensitivity

These reactions are run mostly by cells called neutrophils, cells that absorb
foreign substances. Other cell types and certain cell hormones can sensitize
neutrophils to the point where they become "allergic" to a given substance (like
a chemical), causing them to overreact and suffer damage and destruction. The
person experiences this neutrophil sensitization as chemical sensitivity.

Antigen Receptor Vaccination suppresses these reactions by turning off
neutrophils' own excess reactivity and by suppressing production of the cell
hormones responsible for sensitizing the neutrophils.

Viral disease

Antigen Receptor Vaccination is very helpful in viral disease. It works by
stimulating the action of interferons, particularly Interferon gamma.
Interferons stop viruses from reproducing, and stop virus-infected cells from
multiplying. Interleukin 1, another cell hormone involved in antiviral activity,
is also stimulated in this process.

Autoimmune disease

These diseases respond very well to Antigen Receptor Vaccination through a
combination of the above processes.

Antigen Receptor Vaccination, properly performed, is very safe for patients of
any age or condition. It has been used for many years on thousands of patients
with no evidence of short- or long-term problems.

           Subcutaneous urine injections was practiced in 1912 by
           Duncan (1) from New York under the name of auto-pyotherapy
           for urinary infections, and in 1919 by Wildbolz (1) from
           Bern for diagnostic purposes. Cimino (2) from Palermo
           reported in 1927 on the use of auto uro-therapy for urinary
           infections. Rabinowitch (3) in 1931 described this
           auto-urine therapy for gonarthritis. Jausion et al. (4)
           used this kind of therapy in 1933 for desensitization and
           endocrinological problems. They treated with auto urotherapy
           injections patients who suffered from migraine, pruritus,
           asthma, urticaria, eczema, psoriasis, etc. Day (5)in 1936
           treated patients with acute and subacute glomerulonephritis
           by injection of an autogenous urinary extract. Sandweiss,
           Saltzstein and Farbman (6) reported in 1938 that an extract
           from urine of pregnant women has a prophylactic and
           therapeutic effect on experimental ulcers in dogs. Shortly
           thereafter the same group noted that an extract from urine
           of normal women has a similar beneficial effect (7).

In 1926 Seiffert first described the construction of ileal
           loop conduits for urinary diversion (8). Bricker in the
           1950s popularized the use of the ileal loop as a means of
           supravesical urinary diversion following exenteration for
           pelvic malignancy in adults (9). Ureterosigmoidostomy as a
           means of urinary diversion was used widely from 1920 to
           1955. It was this type of implant which Hammer first
           reported in 1929 associated with tumor (10).
           Peyer`s patches are immunocompetent lymphoid organs which
           participate in intestinal immune responses (11). Epithelial
           cells within the crypts of the small bowel are one of the
           fastest dividing cells in the body and yet they show one of
           the lowest rate of malignant transformation (12). Stem cells
           in the mucosa of the small bowel can divide every 8 to 12
           hours (13). Tapper and Folkman (14) demonstrated that
           exposure of intestinal segments to urine causes marked
           lymphoid depletion in the segments. These studies give
           additional support to the idea that a lymphocyte suppressive
           factor exist in urine (15). The continued presence of urine
           bathing the intestinal mucosa appears to locally inhibit
           regeneration of the Peyer`s patches.

Starkey et al. (16) detected in human urine a material that
           is biologically and immunologically similar to epidermal
           growth factor that causes proliferation and keratinization
           of epidermal tissues.

The increased susceptibility of the colon to cancer
           associated with the existence of an implanted ureter has
           been theorized to relate to 3 factore: 1. The role of the
           urine in the colon (17,18). 2. The mechanical effect of the
           fecal stream on the stoma (19). 3. The age of the
           anastomosis (20). Adenocarcinoma of the colon mucosa is a
           recognized complication of ureterosigmoidostomy. The tumor,
           which develops adjacent to the junction of the ureter with
           the bowel, occurs 500 times as often as in the population at
           large and, in children so operated , 7,000 times as often as
           in all persons under age 25. The latency period is 5 to 50
           years (17,21-23).

It is common knowledge that malignant tumors may disappear
           spontaneously although very infrequently (24-26). Usually it
           is accepted that this could be due at least partly to an
           immunological reaction (27,28). Renal adenocarcinoma is one
           of the cancer types in which such spontaneous regressions
           have been described most frequently (24,26).
           Urinary extracts from patients with aplastic anemia (29) and
           idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (30) are capable of
           stimulating megakaryocyte colony growth in culture, and when
           injected into rats could also induce thrombocytosis in
           peripheral blood and megakaryocytosis in the spleens of
           these animals. Stanley et al. (31) demonstrated that rabbits
           immunized with human urine concentrates from leukemic
           patients developed antibody which neutralized the mouse bone
           marrow colony stimulating factor in human urine and human
           serum.

Urotherapy is suggested as a new kind of immunotherapy for
           cancer patients. Unlike the clonal immunotherapy the urine
           of the cancer patients contain the many tumor antigens which
           constitute the tumor. Oral auto-urotherapy will provide the
           intestinal lymphatic system the tumor antigens against which
           they may produce antibodies due to non-self recognition.
           These antibodies may be transpierced through the blood
           stream and attack the tumor and its cells.

I don't know what Ted Kennedy was thinking about. Perhaps Sen. Kennedy chickened

PREFACE TO PART 1 OF THE GOSPEL OF MATTHEW

Try to be open-minded and objective. Mankind is afflicted with an
Prejudicial Egocentric Zenophobia - an undue attachment to the
familiar, and a hysterical, psychotic, paranoid, schizophrenia - a
taboo or phobia against that which is different. For example,
imagine you are a dog with a cruel master who often beats you and
seldom feeds you. Despite his cruelty, your master is familiar and
predictable to you, so you welcome him, "tail wagging the dog". Then
comes the saint, offering a steak to you, with some kind words. This
is unfamiliar to you, so you begin barking and growling at him.

Similarly, the idolatrous sectarian fundamentalist heresies provide
no real, tangible Salvation from Suffering which can be verified,
but they are a long-standing tradition. False religions are nothing
more than "the guy who sold you the Brooklyn Bridge", as it were,
but, too late, you discovered the deed was a fake. Once you die, you
cannot come back to earth to complain that the religious promises
which were made, did not come true. Unless you have a tangible,
measurable critieria to establish Theological Truth and falsehood,
you will continue to be "fleeced" and swindled out of your valuable
money and time by "false shepherds".

The worst abuse one individual can inflict on another, is to trick
him or fool him into erroneous, blasphemous, and heretical
theological doctrines, which can't Save anybody from anything, but
this has become standard prodedure. It is natural to love one's
Master. In India, we have "Guru Puja", in which we praise the
Master. Such a one is the Dalai Lama, for example. The problem
begins when one's own understanding of what he is doing, is flawed.
I knew a young Tibetan monk in Kathmandu. He pointed to a picture of
the Dalai Lama, saing: "That is my God".

Making a God of the Master, or worshipping him as such, is not the
True Dharma. God, Christ, the Father, the Holy Spirit, Kundalini
Shakti, Health, Longevity, Wisdom, the Kingdom of Heaven, Christ or
Father Within Us, Salvation from Suffering, the Longer, Happier
Life: These are but different names or aspects of the One God Within
Us. And if these things are lacking, despite one's own
Righteousness, there is a deficiency, impeding one's results in
one's Quest for Salvation. Like both Paul and Jesus said: You don't
receive God until it happens inside you.

The Hermetic Masters have shown you how to Save yourselves, but they
do not personally Save you, although they can utilize their own
Siddhis to help you, and can do a better job of showing you how to
help yourselves. Have you not heard: "The Lord helps those who help
themselves"? And elsewhere in the New Testament: "Faith without
works is nothing". Despite the fact that you have been taught that
Salvation comes from without you, by magic or miracle, and despite
your own attachment to this idea, it might be wise to acknowledge
that it is by Righteousness and the Serum Union of Man and Wife,
that we are Saved from the Eight Sufferings.

A simple Polygraph Lie Detector Machine could soon prove the
deception in the hearts of those who, like ostriches, "bury their
heads in the sand", refusing to acknowledge the mountain of
scriptural and scientific evidence, supporting Hermetic Science,
which we also call: the "Marriage Supper", the "Washing of
Regeneration", Tantra, Triveni, or the Tao of Yin-Yang Union. Those
who don't understand the meanings of these terms, must seek out
lesser religions, designed as havens for the ignorant and the blind,
who cannot find their Way to the Health and Higher Consciousness,

said: "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a
rich man to enter Heaven." Following a material existence, one fails to practice
Rasa Tantra, which is the Biblical "Marriage Supper of the Lamb of God".)

22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be
single, thy whole body shall be full of light. (This refers to the Inner Light
of Ajna Chakra or the Third Eye.)

great is that darkness! (A lack of Self Realization is the main cause of evil.)

FREE SPEECH: THE LAST BASTION AGAINST TYRANNY

We have seen this happen in all religions of this whorehouse planet. Why should

In the Holy Koran, over 100 times, our beloved Prophet Mohammed commands all
Muslims to support and attain the "Resurrection", which would come in the Last
Days (daze).

He commands all Muslims to support and/or attain this Resurrection, which we now
know is Genetic Rejuvenation. In other words, religion exists only for

So where are the Muslims? They are lost, as are all the other religions of this

Carrie Prejean is not the only one who is being demonized these days for
expressing politically incorrect opinions; free speech had a bad week all over
the world. British Home Secretary Jacqui Smith last week announced the names of
sixteen "extremists" whom she has barred from entering Britain -- a smorgasbord
of nasty characters including a white supremacist; a Christian fundamentalist
hate preacher; two Islamic jihadists; and Samir Kantar, a Lebanese Druze
terrorist who brutally murdered four Israelis, including a four-year-old child.
On the list also was talk show host Michael Savage, whose only offense seems to
have been to espouse views that Jacqui Smith doesn't like.

Savage was livid, saying of Smith: "She's linking me with mass murderers who are
in prison for killing Jewish children on buses? For my speech? The country where
the Magna Carta was created?"

It was a good question, and one made all the more urgent by the likelihood that
Savage, as well as the others who were not Islamic terrorists or their allies,
were only added to the list in order to avoid aggravating the easily-aggravated
sensibilities of Muslim groups in Britain. Alan Mendoza of the London-based
Henry Jackson Society dismissed many of the names on the list as being "just
here for padding." According to AP, Mendoza said that the list was devised so as
to "avoid giving Britain's Muslims the impression that it singles them out."

But why would the barring of Islamic jihadists and hate preachers from Britain
offend peaceful Muslims who ostensibly oppose jihad terrorism as a twisting of
their faith? Smith offered no explanation for this and succeeded only in yet
again calling into question Britain's commitment to the freedom of speech -- a
commitment that was already severely threatened by Smith's earlier barring of
Dutch Parliamentarian Geert Wilders from entering the country because of his
views on Islam and the Koran.

Nor was Smith alone in acting against free speech last week. The United Nations'
Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights last Friday slapped human
rights activist David Littman of the World Union of Progressive Judaism with a
one-month ban from speaking at the U.N. Human Rights Council, where Littman has
regularly delivered addresses for many years. Littman's offense? During a debate
at the Human Rights Council in early March, he tried to deliver a statement on
anti-Semitism in Islamic publications. At that time, Canadian Ambassador Marius
Grinius -- acting on instructions from the U.N. Secretariat -- stopped Littman
from finishing his statement. And now this disciplinary action adds insult to
injury.

The contrast with the generally free rein given to endless denunciations of
Israel made by member states of the Organization of the Islamic Conference
(OIC), the U.N.'s largest voting bloc, is stark and obvious. And it is those
same states that don't want Littman's message to get out: "In 2008," Littman
said, "I was constantly stopped on points of order by OIC states….The underlying
problem," Littman explained, "is the treatment of human-rights activists
addressing taboo subjects in the council" -- and there is no greater taboo than
any subject that reflects poorly on the Islamic world. The OIC has dedicated
itself to the criminalization of "Islamophobia" and "defamation of Islam," and
has made it clear that it considers "Islamophobic" and defamatory any discussion
of how jihadists use Islamic texts and teachings to justify violence, as well as
any exploration of Islamic law's institutionalized discrimination against women
and non-Muslims. Hillel Neuer of U.N. Watch explained, "Everyone here in Geneva
sees this as targeted payback for Mr. Littman's outspoken criticism of Islamic
states' record on human rights, a voting bloc that dominates the Human Rights
Council."

"Mr. Littman," said U.N. spokeswoman Marie Heuze, "has his own way of lobbying,
but there is a red line that you should not transgress." Her words echoed a
statement last year by OIC chief Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu: "We sent a clear message
to the West regarding the red lines that should not be crossed" regarding free
speech about Islam and terrorism. And he reported success: "The official West
and its public opinion are all now well-aware of the sensitivities of these
issues. They have also started to look seriously into the question of freedom of
expression from the perspective of its inherent responsibility, which should not
be overlooked."

In other words, "irresponsible" speech -- that is, speech he disapproves of --
must be banned.

Jacqui Smith couldn't have said it better.

We support our esteemed President Obama in his efforts to solve contentions by
good diplomacy. And we support our Muslim brethren in their quest to establish
both inner and outer peace. All must acknowledge that there will be no world
peace without inner peace as well.

No man is perfect, and no religious instruction is above the rational scrutiny
of intelligent minds. Like the founder of the Theosophical Society, Helena
Blavatsky, said: "There is no religion higher than Truth." Anyone who tries to
force lies upon us, which cannot Save us, will not be appreciated at all.

The answer is what the Quakers recommend: "Gentle Persuasion" - not some maniac
using religion to force lies upon you. You must understand how the devil loves
to use religion to "screw you up". Anything can be faked for erroneous purposes,
and so it is with the religions of this whorehouse planet.

Mahatma Fakirananda once told me: "The great Masters came to Save mankind, but

It is a case of happy timing. Barack Obama's nominee as Legal Adviser of the
State Department, Harold Koh, has said that he has no objection to Islamic
Sharia law being applied "in an appropriate case" in the United States. And at
the same time, the world is witness to a veritable laboratory experiment of what
it means to apply Sharia in a place where it previously had not been in effect.

While Koh, of course, probably has in mind something like the voluntary Sharia
arbitration courts that are currently operating in Britain, Sharia is a
comprehensive system covering every aspect of life. It will not prove so easy to
separate out its elements that do not conflict with Western laws from those that
do.

And that's why the Pakistani experience is instructive. After the Pakistani
government agreed to a deal implementing Sharia in Pakistan's Swat Valley --
formerly a popular tourist destination -- Islamic supremacists have moved
swiftly to implement Sharia rules.

The results are illuminating not just of the situation in Pakistan, but of the
ultimate outcome of stealth jihad attempts to insinuate elements of Sharia into
Western societies:

•    In Taiser, a town near Karachi, Taliban jihadists spray-painted pro-Taliban
graffiti on a church. When the church members began to clean it off, a Taliban
gang appeared and began firing into the crowd, killing three Christians. One
attacker declared: "You infidels have to convert to Islam or die." The jihadists
also burned down three area churches.
•    In the village of Sultanwas, the Taliban began broadcasting radio talks
about Islam, and issuing warnings that barbers must no longer shave men's
beards.
•    In the Buner district, Taliban members punished four men who were caught
listening to music by shaving their heads and mustaches.
•    Also in Buner, the Taliban posted notices warning women to stay in their
homes and not to appear in the markets.
•    In the village of Luqman Banda in northwest Pakistan, a bomb left outside a
girls' school killed four children.
•    In Orakzai, the Taliban has demanded that Sikhs pay the jizya, the tax on
non-Muslims mandated by the Qur'an (9:29), and have expelled from the area Sikhs
who could not pay the exorbitant amounts they demanded.
•    The Taliban executed a couple they had accused of adultery, and filmed the
execution -- the film is now circulating all over the country, viewed with
horror by urban secular Pakistanis.

All of these incidents and others like them have taken place in recent weeks, as
the Taliban has consolidated its power in Swat and attempted to seize control of
a much larger expanse of Pakistani territory. All of them are in accord with
traditional provisions of Islamic law, which forbids women to leave their homes
without the permission of their father or husband; forbids men to shave; forbids
education to women except on an extremely limited basis; mandates a death
sentence for the crime of adultery; and offers non-Muslims conversion,
subjugation as inferiors under the rule of Islamic law, or death.

Sharia supremacists want to bring this program to all of Pakistan. Qazi Hussain
Ahmad, a supporter of Osama bin Laden and former leader of a pro-Sharia
political party in Pakistan, Jamaat-e-Islami, recently wrote that "those who
believe that Pakistan can be secularized by separating the Islamic system from
its state are suffering from a serious fallacy." He declared that the complete
Islamization of Pakistan "has been the genuine and long-standing demand of the
overwhelming majority of Pakistanis."

That appears to be true: according to a February 2008 U.S. Institute of Peace
poll, 84% of Pakistanis believe that America is more of a threat to them than
Al-Qaeda or the Taliban. Apparently, when Sharia comes to them, they will be
very happy. But not  entirely, at least not yet.

Mulla Nazeer Ahmad, a leader of the Taliban jihadists, has declared: "Our Jihad
is a global Jihad and we aim to...establish Sharia all over the world."

And Taliban spokesman Muslim Khan told CNN recently that the Taliban hoped
ultimately to spread its strict Sharia adherence "even in America." Obtaining
that goal will make their happiness complete.

using religion to force lies upon you. You must understand how the devil loves
to use religion to "screw you up". Anything can be faked for erroneous purposes,
and so it is with the religions of this whorehouse planet.

Mahatma Fakirananda once told me: "The great Masters came to Save mankind, but
mankind, through ignorance, failed to Save themselves. For that reason, the

We Can't Afford to Ignore Myanmar

EIGHT years ago I visited Myanmar as a private citizen, traveling freely in the
capital city of Yangon and around the countryside. This lush, breathtakingly
beautiful nation was even then showing the strain of its severance from the
outside world. I was a guest of an American businessman, and I understood the
frustration and disappointment that he and others felt, knowing even then that
tighter sanctions would soon drive them out of the country.

This month I became the first American political leader to visit Myanmar in 10
years, and the first-ever to meet with its reclusive leader, Senior Gen. Than
Shwe, in the haunting, empty new capital of Naypyidaw. From there I flew to an
even more patched-and-peeled Yangon, where I met with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the
opposition leader and Nobel laureate who remains confined to her home. Among
other requests, I asked Than Shwe to free her and allow her to participate in
politics.

Leaving the country on a military plane with John Yettaw — an American who had
been sentenced to seven years of hard labor for immigration offenses, and whose
release I had also requested of Than Shwe — I was struck again by how badly the
Burmese people need outside help. They are so hardened after decades of civil
war and political stalemate that only an even-handed interlocutor can lift them
out of the calcified intransigence that has damaged their lives and threatened
the stability of Southeast Asia.

For more than 10 years, the United States and the European Union have employed a
policy of ever-tightening economic sanctions against Myanmar, in part fueled by
the military government's failure to recognize the results of a 1990 election
won by Aung San Suu Kyi's party. While the political motivations behind this
approach are laudable, the result has been overwhelmingly counterproductive. The
ruling regime has become more entrenched and at the same time more isolated. The
Burmese people have lost access to the outside world.

Sanctions by Western governments have not been matched by other countries,
particularly Russia and China. Indeed, they have allowed China to dramatically
increase its economic and political influence in Myanmar, furthering a dangerous
strategic imbalance in the region.

According to the nonprofit group EarthRights International, at least 26 Chinese
multinational corporations are now involved in more than 62 hydropower, oil, gas
and mining projects in Myanmar. This is only the tip of the iceberg. In March,
China and Myanmar signed a $2.9-billion agreement for the construction of fuel
pipelines that will transport Middle Eastern and African crude oil from Myanmar
to China. When completed, Chinese oil tankers will no longer be required to pass
through the Straits of Malacca, a time-consuming, strategically vital route
where 80 percent of China's imported oil now passes.

If Chinese commercial influence in Myanmar continues to grow, a military
presence could easily follow. Russia is assisting the Myanmar government on a
nuclear research project. None of these projects have improved the daily life of
the average citizen of Myanmar, who has almost no contact with the outside world
and whose per capita income is among the lowest in Asia.

It would be wrong for the United States to lift sanctions on Myanmar purely on
the basis of economic self-interest, or if such a decision were seen as a
capitulation of our long-held position that Myanmar should abandon its
repressive military system in favor of democratic rule. But it would be just as
bad for us to fold our arms, turn our heads, and pretend that by failing to do
anything about the situation in Myanmar we are somehow helping to solve it.

So what can and should be done?

First, we must focus on what is possible. The military government in Myanmar has
committed itself to elections in 2010, as part of its announced "seven steps
toward democracy." Many point out that the Constitution approved last year in a
plebiscite is flawed, since it would allow the military to largely continue its
domination of the government, and that the approval process itself was
questionable. The legislation to put the Constitution into force has yet to be
drafted. The National League for Democracy, Aung San Suu Kyi's political party,
has not agreed to participate in next year's elections.

But there is room for engagement. Many Asian countries — China among them — do
not even allow opposition parties. The National League for Democracy might
consider the advantages of participation as part of a longer-term political
strategy. And the United States could invigorate the debate with an offer to
help assist the electoral process. The Myanmar government's answer to such an
offer would be revealing.

Second, the United States needs to develop clearly articulated standards for its
relations with the nondemocratic world. Our distinct policies toward different
countries amount to a form of situational ethics that does not translate well
into clear-headed diplomacy. We must talk to Myanmar's leaders. This does not
mean that we should abandon our aspirations for a free and open Burmese society,
but that our goal will be achieved only through a different course of action.

The United States refused to talk to the Chinese until 1971, more than 20 years
after the Communist takeover, and did not resume full diplomatic relations until
1979. And yet China, with whom we seem inextricably tied both as a business
partner and a strategic competitor, has no democracy and has never held a
national election.

The Hanoi government agreed to internationally supervised elections for Vietnam
in 1973, as a result of the Paris peace talks; Washington did not raise this as
a precondition to furthering relations. As someone who has worked hard to build
a bridge between Hanoi and America's strongly anticommunist Vietnamese
community, I believe the greatest factor in creating a more open society inside
Vietnam was the removal of America's trade embargo in 1994.

Third, our government leaders should call on China to end its silence about the
situation in Myanmar, and to act responsibly, in keeping with its role as an
ascending world power. Americans should not hold their collective breaths that
China will give up the huge strategic advantage it has gained as a result of our
current policies. But such a gesture from our government would hold far more
sway in world opinion than has the repeated but predictable condemnation of
Myanmar's military government.

Finally, with respect to reducing sanctions, we should proceed carefully but
immediately. If there is reciprocation from the government of Myanmar in terms
of removing the obstacles that now confront us, there would be several ways for
our two governments to move forward. We could begin with humanitarian projects.
We might also seek cooperation on our long-held desire to recover the remains of
World War II airmen at crash sites in the country's north.

Our ultimate goal, as it always has been, should be to encourage Myanmar to
become a responsible member of the world community, and to end the isolation of
its people so that they can live in economic prosperity, under an open political
system.

CHAPTER 14 EXCERPT: WHAT THEN MUST WE DO?

My professional career began with an oath to protect the Constitution against
all enemies, foreign and domestic, at a time when the country was driven by both
external and internal conflict. It would be an understatement to say that 1968
was a tumultuous year. Only hours before our Naval Academy class gathered at the
Navy–Marine Corps stadium for the long-awaited graduation ceremony, Senator
Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated in Los Angeles. Only two months earlier, on
April 4, Martin Luther King Jr. had been gunned down in Memphis, Tennessee. Just
four months before our graduation, at the end of January and throughout much of
February, the Communists' all-out Tet Offensive had brought the bloodiest
fighting of the Vietnam War, leading President Lyndon Johnson to decide against
running for reelection. Beginning in earnest the year before, but increasingly
after the Martin Luther King assassination, the African American sections in
many of America's cities had erupted in frequent violence, with much of our
nation's capital itself occupied by National Guard troops. And later that
summer, the news coverage of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago would
be dominated by footage of the clashes between provocative antiwar organizers
and heavy-handed members of the Chicago police.

The United States of 2008 is also a troubled and divided place, in a quieter
but, to me, a more deeply disturbing way. Oddly, as I have outlined on these
pages, one of our greatest difficulties today is in bringing the problems that
most threaten our future out into the open so that they can be honestly debated.
Issues such as economic fairness, fundamental social justice, the long-term
strategic direction of the c o u n t r y, and the hardening of American society
along class lines rarely make it onto the Senate floor, much less into the arena
of the national political debate. It often occurs to me that, although the
country was in far greater overt turmoil in 1968, the premises on which our
society was founded were never really in true doubt. In 1968, the idea that our
problems were eventually solvable was not in serious question, at least for most
Americans. It is actually harder to make that case in 2008.

But 1968 was indeed a bloody, tumultuous year. And for those of us who stepped
forward to serve, it marked the beginning of more than a decade of internal
turmoil, confrontation over our service, accusations of having participated in
an immoral, unjust war, and, for some, a gnawing self-doubt. Ironically, the end
result for me and many others was that we learned to love our country even more
deeply for all its flaws and public flagellations, because we were required to
reconsider the beliefs and values that had once been handed to us as our natural
legacy, indeed as a birthright. For years it was argued in the open arena of
public debate that our very system was incurably flawed, but few of us agreed.
And so we went through the intellectual challenge of justifying America's
uniqueness on fresh grounds. This caused us to believe all the more strongly
that America was at bottom a fair and splendid place; that it was the moral
beacon for the world; that for all our problems we had the will to solve them,
the patience to undergo the painful debates that might identify solutions, and
the constitutional system that would provide for remedies and thus hold together
the loyalties of our people.

THE STORY OF THE SELF-REHABILITATION OF WILLIAM CALLEY

COLUMBUS, Ga. -- Speaking in a soft, sometimes labored voice, the only U.S. Army
officer convicted in the 1968 slayings of Vietnamese civilians at My Lai made an
extraordinary public apology while speaking to a small group near the military
base where he was court-martialed.

"There is not a day that goes by that I do not feel remorse for what happened
that day in My Lai," William L. Calley told members of a local Kiwanis Club, the
Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reported Friday. "I feel remorse for the Vietnamese who
were killed, for their families, for the American soldiers involved and their
families. I am very sorry."

Calley, 66, was a young Army lieutenant when a court-martial at nearby Fort
Benning convicted him of murder in 1971 for killing 22 civilians during the
infamous massacre of 500 men, women and children in Vietnam.

Frustrated U.S. troops came to My Lai on a "search and destroy" mission, looking
for elusive Vietcong guerrillas. Although there were no reports of enemy fire,
the U.S. troops began mowing down villagers and setting fire to their homes.

The incident shocked Americans and undermined support for the war.

Though sentenced to life in prison, Calley ended up serving three years under
house arrest after President Richard Nixon reduced his sentence.

After his release, Calley stayed in Columbus and settled into a job at a jewelry
store owned by his father-in-law before he moved to Atlanta a few years ago. He
shied away from publicity and routinely turned down journalists' requests for
interviews about My Lai.

But Calley broke his long silence Wednesday after accepting a longtime friend's
invitation to speak at a meeting of the Kiwanis Club of Greater Columbus.

Wearing thick glasses and a blue blazer, he spoke softly into a microphone
answering questions for a half-hour from about 50 Kiwanis members gathered for
their weekly luncheon in a church meeting room.

"You could've heard a pin drop," said Al Fleming, who befriended Calley about 25
years ago and invited him to speak. "They were just slack-jawed that they were
hearing this from him for the first time in nearly 40 years."

Both Fleming and Lennie Pease, the Kiwanis president, told The Associated Press
in phone interviews Friday that Calley's apology came at the beginning of his
brief remarks before he began taking questions.

William George Eckhardt, the chief prosecutor in the My Lai cases, said Friday
he was unaware of Calley ever apologizing before. Eckhardt said that when he
first heard the news "I just sort of cringed."

"It's hard to apologize for murdering so many people," said Eckhardt, now a law
professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. "But at least there's an
acknowledgment of responsibility."

Calley didn't deny taking part in the slayings on March 16, 1968, but insisted
he was following orders from his superior, Capt. Ernest Medina - a notion
Eckhardt, the former prosecutor, rejects.

Medina was also tried by a court-martial in 1971, and was acquitted of all
charges.

When asked if he broke the law by obeying an unlawful order, the newspaper
reported, Calley replied: "I believe that is true."

"If you are asking why I did not stand up to them when I was given the orders, I
will have to say that I was a second lieutenant getting orders from my commander
and I followed them - foolishly, I guess," Calley said.

Pease said the Kiwanis Club tried to keep Calley's appearance quiet, not wanting
to attract outside attention. He said it was obvious that Calley had difficulty
speaking to a group, though he addressed every question head-on - and received a
standing ovation when he finished.

"You could see that there was extreme remorse for everything that happened,"
Pease said. "He was very, very soft-spoken. It was a little difficult to hear
him. You could see he was labored answering questions."

The last listed phone number for Calley in Atlanta has been disconnected.
Fleming declined to give his number to an Associated Press reporter.

Fleming said he's spoken several times with Calley about his combat experiences
in Vietnam. He describes Calley as "a compassionate guy," despite his infamous
role at My Lai.

"I think he may feel like it was time to say something," Fleming said. "Over the
years, I have come to know him so well that it doesn't seem like a great big
thing anymore. But I guess it is."

transferal of Kundalini Shakti from master to disciple. This was only one of
many miracles performed by Jesus. My favorite is the feeding of the 5,000 by the
miracle of "multiplying" a few pieces of fish and bread. This exemplified the
Spiritual Revolution, which was to come. People are destined to have the power,
like Adam and Eve before the "fall", to attain whatever they wish for. This
power not only benefits one's self, but any and all others such a siddha desires
to help. Free food and medicine can be the greatest gift to a humanity which is
heading into the prophesied
"Tribulations" of the "Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse": Hunger, disease, war
and death. The nation which has the most such advocates, will emerge the victor
in the competition of survival. The Americans have little interest in survival.
This portends much more than its current economic problems of the same cause -
the selfish greed of covert atheists.)

Chakra, where this Dwij or Regeneration Kriya will join the body with the Inner
Sight and Sound of Higher Consciousness of the God Chakra, at the top of the
head. Out-of-Body Experience is one of the primary siddhis.)

7 Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me
are of thee. (Jesus repeatedly reassures us that He has no secret agendas or
ulterior motives in His Ministry. He is in it for God and the people and not for
selfish money or power.)

repetition of the concept that : GOD MUST BE WITHIN. It is this very same Inner

its benefits.)

USING TV, CHRISTIAN PAT ROBERTSON DENOUNCES HINDUISM AS "DEMONIC"

Evangelist Opposes Freedom of Religion, Says It's Time To Convert India and
Wants to Keep Hinduism Out of U.S.

It's not that unusual for Pat Robertson's daily Christian TV show, the "700
Club," to portray other religions in less than a complimentary light. Jews,
Muslims and occasionally Hindus are singled out for a scathing recounting of
their spiritual errors. Still, I was shocked to see Robertson on his March 23th
show label Hinduism as "demonic" and advocate keeping Hindus out of America. My
concerns intensified when President Clinton later implicated hateful talk in the
fatal Oklahoma City bombing.

Robertson was already a well-known figure in the conservative Christian
community when his 1988 bid for the US presidency shot him into national
attention and effectively anointed him leader of the Christian right wing.
Talented and industrious, he is head or founder of numerous organizations,
including a 1,400 student university. His political action group, the
1.4-million-member Christian Coalition, has decided influence in a new
Republican-controlled Congress.

Christian evangelists regularly slander Hinduism with little impact beyond their
own flock [see Hinduism Today, February, 1989]. But when a national figure like
Robertson does it on a widely-watched TV program, that's different.

The March 23rd episode details Robertson's conversion of some Hindu people of
Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh, India, to the Christian religion. In the course
of the show, Robertson makes shameful, unChristian accusations against the Hindu
faith, the world's oldest religion. When contacted, Mr. Robertson's office told
us he was "unavailable for comment."

To begin, Robertson's experiences in Rajahmundry are described by a narrator.
The scene is of a poverty-stricken people, bathing in the river at the head of
which rests a statue of Lord Siva. Water is pouring out of Siva's head and a
snake is wrapped around his head as well. Robertson and his son are found in the
midst of the scene, observing and mocking the early morning prayers of Hindus.
As they witness the scene, they make incorrect reference to the river as "Siva's
sperm," and claim that the people "were supposed to wash away their sins in the
sperm of the God."

Robertson goes on to characterize Hinduism as having evil tendencies toward
random spiritual worship and polytheism. Mr. Robertson's son and fellow
evangelist, Gordon, stated disparagingly, "Whenever [Hindus] feel any sort of
inspiration, whether it's by a river or under a tree, on top of a hill, they
figure that some God or spirit is responsible for that. And so they'll worship
that tree, they'll worship that hill or they'll worship anything." What was even
more regrettable was Robertson's assertion of some connection between idol
worship and the poverty in India. Robertson does not deny his son's claim that
"Wherever you find this type of idolatry, you'll find a grinding poverty. The
land has been cursed."

But if the argument of poverty as the curse of India is not enough for the
American audience of "The 700 Club," they next hear Hinduism boldly labeled
"demonic." Robertson says, "Siva [is] the God of Destruction, and his consort,
the Goddess of death [Kali] -- that black, ugly statue there with all those
fierce eyes." He then suggests that the evil tendencies of death and destruction
can be found in those who worship the deities: "I mean these people are out to
kill other human beings in the name of their God." They mention in support of
this conclusion the Aum Shinrikyo sect in Japan. This eccentric Buddhist-based
organization was likely responsible for subway gas attacks in Tokyo earlier this
year. Their icons, unfortunately, included Siva-sure proof, goes the Robertson
thinking, of demons at work.

"Although Hinduism admits that different beings and entities can perform what we
might consider evil acts," corrects Dr. Arvind Sharma, Birks Professor of
Comparative Religion at McGill University, Toronto, "there does not seem to be a
single entity such as the Christian devil in Hinduism." And since there is no
practice of evil or concept of the devil in Hinduism, "To call Hinduism
demonic," concludes Dr. Sharma, "is really demonic."

By accusing Hinduism of being demonic, Robertson is merely reinforcing the
age-old stereotype that has been placed on the Indian culture by the West.
"That's been standard operating procedure missionaries have used ever since they
invaded India in the 19th century," explains Dr. Gordon Melton, Director of the
Institute for the Study of American Religions. "In approaching Eastern religions
and African religions, it has been the stance of most conservative Christians
that the deities of those religions are, in fact, personified demons. And that
perspective goes back to the Jewish encounter with the Caananite culture a
millennia ago as described in the Bible."

Dr. Kusumita Pedersen, Director for the Project on Human Rights and Religion,
similarly observes that Robertson has employed "almost every negative image and
cliché that has been used about Hinduism since the 18th century."

As the show unfolds, we finally we arrive at the real intention of Robertson's
missionary trip to India: to convert Hindus to the Christian faith. A narrator
describes the scene of the conversion in which thousands of Hindus were "set
free from a lifetime of fear and demonic oppression. The scene was
overwhelming." Actually, the scene is oddly over dramatic. Why would thousands
of people in a split second throw away their entire way of life that has been
passed down over the centuries, because of a brief speech given by a stranger
from another country? Although Robertson mentions the naturally deep devotion of
the Hindus, he apparently fails to appreciate that any religious preacher in
India gets the same reception, whether Christian, Hindu, Jain, Sikh or Buddhist
-- though it does help to be white, American, famous and rich.

It is also apparent he was frustrated with the Hindu ability to just absorb one
more God. "I preached to them the second commandment about idolatry. You know,
`They shall hold no other Gods before me,' and number two, `You shall not fall
down or make any idols of anything.' Many people accept Christ, but they still
go with those processions down to those riverbanks. We followed along with the
crowd and I said, `You've got to give that up.'"

Political Agenda

The program used common stereotypes of Hinduism (as well of as other prominent
non-Christian religions in America) to create fear among the American people of
non-Christian religions. What is the purpose behind those tactics?

Judging from Michael Little's, President of the Christian Broadcasting Network
comments on the show -- "There are so many opportunities for us to take programs
which will reach the people of India," and "Help us carry the light to a nation
in darkness" -- it is obvious that one strategy of "The 700 Club" is to gain
support and money. "Give us a hand on this [India]," pleads Robertson at one
point, "because it's a big one." But that is just part of the plan.

Robertson's true thinking is revealed in his 1991 book The New World Order. That
novel discloses a secret plan being followed by the present political leaders of
the world. Robertson labels that plan the "New World Order," which he sees as
the formation of a one world government, one police force, one judicial system,
and one economic market. Robertson claims that in this "new world government no
one could speak out against the beliefs of a Muslim, a Hindu, or an animist.
What we know as the freedom of religion would be taken away, and Christians
would be muzzled."

But Robertson has a vision of another future, one is which "God sweeps away the
pretense of the satanic and man-made counterfeits and announces His New World
Order, and His anointed leader, Jesus the Messiah."

Robertson stated in The New World Order: "The media challenged me. `You're not
going to bring atheists into the government? How dare you maintain that those
who believe the Judeo-Christian values are better qualified to govern America
than Hindus and Muslims?' My simple answer is, `Yes, they are.'"

Mr. David Cantor, Senior Research Analyst of the Anti-Defamation League, points
out that such "religious tests for office are unconstitutional. It's not just a
purely a religious statement. It's a political statement."

The Human Rights Issue

"In the discussion of human rights, there are different positions on the right
to free speech or freedom of expression. The extreme position, that is sometimes
called the `American position,' is total freedom of speech," explains Dr.
Pedersen. "As Americans, we believe that even the most offensive and the most
incendiary statements should be allowed in the name of freedom of expression,
because once you start to legally restrict the freedom of speech, you are on a
slippery slope of restricting all kinds of speech on different political or
ideological ground."

Dr. Pedersen feels that such anti-Hindu statements may refer back to the 1920s,
at a time when the Ku Klux Klan (a Christian white-supremacist group advocating
violence against Black Americans) was on the rise, and the national belief was
that all Americans must be Christians. During the 1920s, immigration laws
prevented European immigrants from entering the United States. Eventually
Europeans were allowed to immigrate and by 1965 Hindus were included in
immigrant quotas.

However, in the 1990s, some feel that the multicultural immigration has caused a
backlash in American society in the form of racial discrimination between
various cultural groups. In the wake of such discontent, Peter Brimelow has
recently written a book called Alien Nation which attacks multiculturalism and
its negative effects on American society. Something must be done, Brimelow
advocates, to prevent white people from becoming a minority in America.

"What Robertson is really saying is that Hindus shouldn't be allowed to come to
the United States," evaluates Dr. Pedersen. "All of the Hindu engineers, doctors
and computer experts who are living here should go home. This is a very big
statement that he has made."

Even Christians are concerned with Robertson's manner of preaching Christianity.
Sister Mary Elizabeth Moore, a Professor at Claremount's School of Theology,
feels that Robertson may be overstepping his boundaries as a Christian. "I have
been very distressed that Pat Robertson and others like him have used the gospel
to preach condemnation of others, to judge harshly, to demonize people in other
faiths and to demonize some Christians with whom they don't just happen to
agree," expresses Sister Moore. "I think that's absolutely counter to the gospel
of Jesus Christ."

Hinduism is not the only religion under Robertson's extremist attack; The New
World Order is filled with anti-Semitism. However, Ms. Nancy Israel of the
American Jewish Committee, notes that Robertson is slowly transforming. "He's
being very careful now," observes Ms. Israel, who is from the Pittsburgh chapter
of the American Jewish Committee. "Up until now he's been able to say what he
wanted to say, and I think that those people who don't watch `The 700 Club' and
don't read his materials have no idea what he's saying. He's been forced to back
off because of this public spotlight and because he's decided to make the
Christian Coalition a more mainstream organization."

Sri Anutama Das, Director of Communications at ISKCON feels that Robertson's
actions should send a message to devotees of Hinduism. "It's unfortunate that
such an influential religious and Christian leader as Pat Robertson demonstrates
disdain for the world's oldest religious culture. As a Vaishnava, I see his
emphasis in trying to spread Christianity in India, specifically among Hindus,
as a reminder of the need for all of us to delve deeply into our own faith's
traditions," notes Anutama, who is from ISKCON's branch in Rockland, Maryland.
"As Krishna says in Bhagavad Gita, `Raja Vija, Raja Guyam.' This knowledge of
the soul, of Sanatana Dharma, is the highest spiritual knowledge. However, if we
do not educate ourselves and our children and abide by the teachings,
materialists will find us easy targets for conversion."

What Should We Do?

It is true that if our Hindu faith is challenged, perhaps we will become more
aware of its teachings, as suggested by Anutama. If that is so, we can view the
"700 Club" attack on Hinduism as a blessing in disguise. "I would say that
anytime we see the extreme of a religious community, we see warning signals that
need to be taken seriously," agrees Sister Moore. "Those signals usually reveal
something of the larger religion, something of the possibility of distortions
that people need to worry about. These distortions can stir other people who
have more whole views of the religion to express and live their faith more
fully."

We should use this opportunity to profess and understand our Hindu faith more
fully. We as Hindus need to respond to and erase Western stereotypes and hate
speeches against our religion. There are many ways to accomplish that.

We can articulate our complaints through letters, phone calls and petitions to
the government offices, such as the Justice Department Hate Crimes Division. The
Indian government could express its concern, as it did for Hindus in South
Africa for years. And we can bring such statements into the light of public
discussion by filing complaints with the Anti-Defamation League.

The Anti-Defamation League was established in 1913 by B'nai B'rith, a Jewish
service organization. The League and its parent organization defend human
rights, promote intercultural relations, provide for the religious and cultural
needs of Jewish college students, sponsor Jewish education among adults and
youth groups and carry on a broad program of community service and welfare. They
confer with governments and the UN on civil rights, immigration, abuses of
freedom by totalitarian states, the position of Israel and problems affecting
Jews throughout the world.

Dr. Pedersen feels that perhaps we can form our own protection league: "I
recommend the formation of a Hindu anti-defamation program which will monitor
these kinds of statements in the press and the media, and will gather accurate
information and will speak out when something should be protested." In that way,
perhaps the entire Hindu public will be constantly made aware of any false
allegations made against our religion, and efforts to respond can be
coordinated.

Dr. Jayaraman, executive director of Bharat Vidya Bhavan in New York, feels that
the way to dispel Hindu stereotypes is to teach the common American man about
our religion. "Indian philosophy should be taught methodically, either in the
school system or by speakers prepared to go around the country to talk just like
these missionaries," suggests Dr. Jayaraman. "In every city, in every state they
should have such speakers, powerful speakers who can say with authority, `This
is Hinduism. What you are saying is wrong.'" Dr. Jayaraman also suggests that
small books discussing true Hindu philosophy be freely distributed to the
public.

But the main way to break down anti-Hindu sentiments is by educating our
children and ourselves more about Hinduism. Such understanding will place us in
a better position to combat ignorant statements.

"Because Hindus take a generous view of other religions, they think that others
will take a generous view of theirs," observes Dr. Sharma. "And even when others
attack them, because of their basic nature, they don't take it to heart."

According to Dr. Pedersen, comments such as Robertson's, should be taken
seriously. During the annual dinner given by Human Rights Watch, an
international panel monitored by Peter Jennings discussed whether hate speech
should be restricted or banned. "The next step after this truly disgusting
defamation [of Robertson's] is what these human right activists on the panel
call `the speech of instigation,'" recounted Dr. Pedersen. The `speech of
instigation' is a build-up for murder and genocide. It happened in Rwanda. The
press and media started to build up a rhetoric that so and so should be killed.
After that went on for some months, so and so started getting killed. There is a
line to be drawn somewhere on free speech, but we as Americans just don't know
quite where yet."

Keeping that in mind, perhaps we should turn our thoughts to the bombing of the
Oklahoma City federal building. After the bombing, President Clinton spoke out
against hate speeches, making a clear connection between hate speeches,
propaganda and the bombing. The seeds of hate may blossom into the weeds of
violence. Therefore, it is important that we take early and strong action
against ignorant and hateful comments such as those made by Robertson. If we
don't, we will one day face more than Mr. Robertson's hateful words.

Excerpts from the March 23rd broadcast of the 700 Club:

Robertson: "India is not what you normally think of anymore. In the last five
years, it's burst into the 20th century with modern technology, capitalism and,
especially, television. They're breaking free from the old, and they're moving
into the Western culture. But what that leaves is a spiritual vacuum. And yet
there seems, finally in India, an opening to the Gospel of Jesus Christ
throughout this whole land. There is a huge population of teen-agers. These
people are not locked into the old ways. They're looking for something new and
better."

Cohost: "You know, Pat, we've seen in other countries where there's a certain
period of vulnerability, or spiritual vulnerability. Now's the time to use the
media to talk to them about what their future could really be like."

Robertson: "They have thousands and thousands of earth stations picking up
satellites. It's a window of opportunity [for Christian TV programs]. Of all of
India's problems, one stands out from the rest. That problem is idol worship. It
is said there are hundreds of millions of Hindu deities. All this has put a
nation in bondage to spiritual forces that have deceived many for thousands of
years."

Gordon Robertson (his son): "Wherever you find this type of idolatry, you'll
find a grinding poverty. The land has been cursed. The Bible talks in terms of
the land being cursed on behalf of what the inhabitants have done to it. You
erect all these idols under every green tree, on top of every hill, you're going
to curse your land. And the oppression, we see it in evidence."

CBN Reporter: "[At the religious services Robertson conducted in India] they
came, by the hundreds, even thousands, to a makeshift altar to confess their
faith in Christ and receive a touch from heaven, and be set free from a lifetime
of fear and demonic oppression.

Robertson: "I [told] them to renounce idolatry, but many people accept Christ
and still go with those processions [of Hindu deities]."

Cohost: "You said there's a connection between the New Age, as it is in America,
and Hinduism."

Robertson: "It's the same thing. You see, the whole concept of Hindus is based
on karma; that people have a karma attached to them when they are born, and they
go through a cycle of life and they come back in the next world as something
else. So the whole thought of reincarnation is karma -- you come back as a cow,
a pig, a goat, a dog, a snake or an untouchable. We're importing Hinduism into
America. The whole thought of your karma, of meditation, of the fact that
there's no end of life and there's this endless wheel of life, this is all
Hinduism. Chanting too. Many of those chants are to Hindu Gods -- Vishnu, Hare
Krishna. The origin of it is all demonic. We can't let that stuff come into
America. We've got the best defense, if you will -- a good offense."

Sidebar: The Robertson Empire

The promotional literature provided Hinduism Today by the Robertson ministries
details the extensive empire Pat Robertson has developed over 25 years of
ministry. It is really an admirable accomplishment, tarnished only by the kind
of religious bigotry demonstrated in the March 23rd program [see sidebar left].
Robertson's Christian Broadcasting Network is the world's largest television
ministry, with programs airing across the United States and in 70 countries. He
also has interests in non-religious family-oriented television, specifically the
cable Family Channel. In 1978 he founded the Operation Blessing International
Relief and Development Corporation which since 1978 has distributed aid worth
US$440 million to 114 million people in 72 countries. He's written nine books,
one of which was a best seller and number one religious book in America in 1984.
In 1992 Robertson was selected by Newsweek magazine as one of America's "100
Cultural Elite." Robertson also founded the American Center for Law and Justice
to pursue a Christian agenda in the courts by providing free legal advice and
representation in important precedent-setting cases. His Regent University
[photo above] is an accredited graduate school offering degrees in
communication, education, counseling, business, divinity, public policy and law.

Robertson ventured out of the strictly religious field in 1987 when he resigned
his ordination as a Southern Baptist minister to run for president of the United
States. As part of this effort, the Christian Coalition was formed, a "national
grassroots citizen action organization" to work for "pro-family legislation and
family-friendly public policy on national, state and local levels." Both are

Coalition are probably the single most effective Christian voice in American
politics today, as demonstrated by their recent demands to Congress for a
"Contract with the American Family," including "voluntary [ie, Christian] prayer
in public schools" -- something presently forbidden by law. One reaction to this
contract came from the Americans United for Separation of Church and State.
"It's a sad day in American politics when a TV preacher's political front group
dictates the agenda for the United States Congress," said Barry Lynn, the
organization's executive director.

Ideological Segregation by Click and by Clique

When was the last time you changed your mind on something important? I've
changed my mind a few times. One thing I can say for sure is that I've never
changed it while surrounded by people who agree with me. But we are insulating
ourselves from more and more opposing viewpoints—through the places we live, the
way we vote, and who we turn to for news and information—and finding fewer and
fewer catalysts to question our beliefs.

Bill Bishop has lived and worked for newspapers in Kentucky and Texas, on both
the writing and the publishing sides. Today, he and his wife publish The Daily
Yonder, an online publication covering rural America, including places that much
of the mainstream media has abandoned. Bishop argues that our country has become
increasingly segregated by ideology. Americans are moving to towns and cities to
live with people like themselves, who believe similar things. We are clustering
"in communities of sameness, among people with similar ways of life, beliefs,
and, in the end, politics." One way to see this trend in action is to look at
our elections.

The increasing incidence of "landslide counties" (counties in which a candidate
wins by 20 percentage points or more) exemplifies how Americans are becoming
more homogeneous on a community level. Between 1976 and 2004, the number of
counties in which the presidential election was a landslide doubled, from a
quarter of the population to half. It is conventional wisdom, for example, that
the 2004 presidential election was one of the closest presidential campaigns in
history. Yet, as Bishop points out, nearly half of American voters lived in
places where a single candidate won definitively. On a macro level, America is
closely divided. But these elections aren't close calls in our communities,
because we've moved to places with neighbors who believe what we believe and
vote the same way.

Our changing demography isn't the result of mass migratory patterns such as
those we have seen in our nation's history, but of people who are sorting
themselves one by one. We are concentrating ourselves by belief, and the result
is localities that are becoming "politically monogamous." Bishop calls this
phenomenon the Big Sort.

It was in his capacity as a columnist for the Austin American-Statesman, while
trying to understand how certain cities like his were thriving economically
while others remained stagnant, that Bishop came across the Big Sort. Despite an
admission that his decision to locate to Austin was based on the same kinds of
decisions that Americans are making throughout the country—to be in places that
serve the food we like, offer the church services we prefer, and so on—Bishop
believes that "democracy was not meant to be operating in an atmosphere where
people don't meet or discuss or come across those who disagree with them." If
that were the case, would we even have a democracy? When we read the Declaration
of Independence and the Constitution, we aren't exactly seeing first drafts. The
Founders didn't share the same outlook on all matters, but through debate and
discussion they were able to come to consensus.

There is little that will hasten the death of why in our country more
effectively than raising our children in ideological homogeneity. There just
aren't many incentives to question when everyone around us shares our views. And
it is in our neighborhoods, where we spend so much time, that we could most
easily encounter those with whom we disagree, those whose lives and experiences
might lead us to question our values and beliefs.

Ideological segregation in America is perhaps a natural outgrowth of the
increasing ideological polarization gripping our nation. Although some dispute
the idea that all Americans are more ideological, the evidence is convincing
that, at the very least, American voters surely are. Our ideological
identification determines how we vote, up and down the ticket, and how we feel
about the issues. In a study of the 2006 midterm elections, ideology was
identified as a strong predictor of the party a voter would support. If we are
more ideological, and our ideology predicts our party, then we vote by party. No
need to ask many questions there.

Despite Barack Obama's impressive 2008 electoral victory, the electorate
remained just as divided in 2008, segregated not only by politics but also by
income, education, and geography. After the election, Bishop calculated that
48.1 percent of the population lived in landslide counties in 2008, almost
exactly the same as the 48.3 percent who lived in them in 2004. In fact, in 2008
there were thirty-six "landslide states" where a candidate won by 10 percentage
points or more, an increase from twenty-nine states in 2004 (including
Washington, D.C., in both cases). Writing a week after the election, Bishop
concluded, "The country is split in much the same way it was divided four and
eight years ago. People continue to sort by age and by way of life. As a result,
our communities (and states) are growing more like-minded . . . It is easy to
ignore people on the other side when they aren't your neighbors. But that
doesn't mean the country is less polarized—because it isn't." Obama's election
victory might have brought change to Washington, but it certainly did not
reflect a less divided electorate.

News We Can Believe (In)

Our ideology even directs how we choose to learn about the world around us.
According to a study undertaken by Natali Jomini Stroud, using data from the
2004 National Annenberg Election Survey, people are interested in consuming
media that shares their ideological bent. After analyzing newspaper, cable
television, talk radio, and political Web site consumption habits, Stroud found
that almost two-thirds of conservative Republicans consumed at least one
conservative media outlet, compared to a quarter of liberal Democrats. On the
other side, over three-quarters of liberal Democrats consumed a liberal outlet,
compared to about 40 percent of conservative Republicans. It's not a surprise, I
suppose, that we, in our ideologically segregated neighborhoods, would invite
onto our television sets only those who share our ideology.

The way Americans filter media through an ideological lens can be extreme. One
study that tested whether the logo of a news company appearing on a screen would
determine the likelihood of a participant clicking on the news headline found
that "no matter how we sliced the data—either at the level of individuals or
news stories—the results demonstrate that Fox News is the dominant news source
for Americans whose political leanings are Republican or conservative." On
political subjects, the likelihood of conservatives clicking on the Fox story
was understandably high. But here's the kicker: this was also true for soft
news. Conservatives were more likely to click on sports and travel stories that
came from Fox. Apparently, sports and travel coverage also needs to be mediated
through our political ideologies.

This increased polarization in how we live and how we learn about how others
live has profound implications for the policies that govern our lives. Because
our ideologies are increasingly concentrated, we are increasingly electing
people who represent that ideology well, by being either very left or very
right. This extremism has led to a paralysis in our national politics.

Congressional districts, reflecting their residents, are overwhelmingly
Republican or overwhelmingly Democrat. Bishop sees these landslides as an
affront to the vision of the Founding Fathers, who intended that members of
Congress would meet in D.C., bringing with them a variety of perspectives and
beliefs, to hash out the nation's business.

"Now," Bishop tells me, "they fly in on Tuesday, oftentimes they live with
members of their own party, in their own dormitories with ideologically similar
members, then they fly home on Thursday to their homogeneous districts, and they
never have to do the work of politicians, which is to make deals and
compromise." And when politics becomes merely an expression of ideologies rather
than a process of figuring out how to actually improve the quality of people's
lives, we all suffer.

Don't Know, Don't Ask

I agree with Bishop that ideological segregation is destined to have a negative
effect on our politics, but not just because our politicians are ill-equipped or
unmotivated to do the business of politicking. The environment created by the
Big Sort instills in us a sense of complacency. We are less likely to ask
questions of those who represent us, because we assume they have our interests
in mind.

In 2008, the Drum Major Institute for Public Policy commissioned a poll to find
out which policies the current and aspiring middle class think would improve the
quality of their lives. We asked a random sample of Americans throughout the
country about pieces of legislation that had been voted on by Congress, but not
signed into law, during the previous session. For example, we asked about the
Employee Free Choice Act, which makes it easier for employees to join unions; an
expansion of the State Children's Health Insurance Program to provide health
insurance to more middle-class children; and taxing the income of hedge fund
managers at the same rate as everyone else's income. When we asked respondents
how they would have liked their member of Congress to vote on these bills, the
answer was overwhelmingly in favor of a yes vote, among Democrats and
Republicans alike. But when we asked, How did your member of Congress vote on
this bill?, the overwhelming response was Don't know.

We don't know, and we don't ask. We figure that our members of Congress have our
back, because we share a spot along the ideological spectrum with them. We agree
on some big-picture issues, maybe on cultural values, maybe on the rhetoric
about the role that government should play in our lives. So we don't ask what
they are up to, and they don't feel obliged to tell us. Despite advanced
communications at our fingertips, only one in four of our respondents reported
hearing from their member of Congress on a regular basis. We don't ask, and they
don't tell. And our problems do not get solved.

Transcending Ideological Segregation through Deliberation

Whether we are infants, members of Congress, or regular citizens, it is
encountering the unfamiliar that prompts us to question. If people are living in
their ghettos of belief, where is the catalyst to inquire?

Bringing people together who don't already agree is Carolyn Lukensmeyer's
business. I know firsthand, because I worked for Lukensmeyer in my first job out
of college. It was the late 1990s, and she was on a mission to engage Americans
in a conversation about the future of Social Security. My job was to run the
Social Security Challenge, a campaign within the broader campaign, focused on
inspiring college students to talk about the seventy-three-year-old program and
its future.

The idea driving Lukensmeyer's Americans Discuss Social Security campaign was
that any discussion that might result in a change in the mission of a universal
program such as Social Security couldn't just happen behind closed doors in
Washington, D.C. Americans needed to talk. They needed to weigh in on a
conversation that was about more than the mechanics of the program, that was
about our values and commitments. And if politicians were going to be successful
in whatever decisions they made (whether to keep the program or to change it),
they would need the support of the American people. Lukensmeyer organized town
hall meetings, inviting thousands of Americans to talk about the program, in
their own neighborhoods. Although Clinton's efforts to reach some kind of deal
for the program's future collapsed in response to the scandals of the year,
Lukensmeyer saw the promise in engaging people directly in conversations about
the issues that affect their collective future.

The forums were far more than sessions designed to make attendees feel they had
fulfilled their civic duty. Participants became better educated about the Social
Security debate, and consensus emerged about what people expected from the
program and desired from its reform. At the forums, diverse participants from
diverse communities tackled thorny economic and political issues but were able
to engage each other as well as policymakers in developing concrete, plausible
proposals for policy action.

Soon after the conclusion of Americans Discuss Social Security, Lukensmeyer
founded AmericaSpeaks, where she continues to serve as president. This
organization is hired by local and state governments, nonprofit organizations,
foundations—anyone who wants citizens to come together to deliberate on a
particular issue and reach consensus about what needs to happen next. For
example, thousands of New Yorkers who lived in the area affected by 9/11 came
together to develop their vision for how they wanted their neighborhoods in
Lower Manhattan to redevelop. Thousands of California residents came together to
decide on the kind of health care they would like to see the state offer. Six
hundred students, university presidents, and young activists met as part of the
Clinton Global Initiative to develop plans for student action on issues of
global importance, such as climate change, health, human rights, and peace.

AmericaSpeaks calls their events 21st Century Town Meetings, and to look at the
forums is to understand why. In person, the sessions resemble a cross between
bingo and a trade show. Hundreds or thousands of people are seated at round
tables. Each of the participants has a laptop. A facilitator asks questions to
help move the group toward accomplishing their goal for the day.

But it isn't the high-tech tools that make the town halls special; it's the
people. There is no Big Sort here. AmericaSpeaks picks participants through
random sampling to represent their broader community. They are sitting next to
people they don't know. There are no ideological cliques. They don't possess
expertise in the issues they are there to discuss, such as health care,
immigration, or Social Security, and they aren't expected to. Their job, no
matter what they believe, is to discuss an issue, debate the policy options, and
reach consensus. And they do.

The participants are not unlike the residents of the communities that Bishop
writes about in The Big Sort, but the AmericaSpeaks experience illustrates that,
in the right environment, with the right incentives and support, we can
transcend ideological segregation, both as a group and within ourselves.

"Many of [our participants] live in communities like Bishop describes,"
Lukensmeyer told me. But "even those people who come from very polarized
ideological backgrounds, when placed in a context and facing real human beings
who are really different than they are, and given the basic information that
they need to participate in the discussion, and given questions designed to make
them think—they think."

The sessions have a significant effect on both policymakers and participants
alike. Even Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was visibly excited as he chatted
with a group of AmericaSpeaks participants debating health-care reform in
California, in a forum called CaliforniaSpeaks: "Your involvement can make
[reform] happen—that's why we need to hear your voices, opinions, and
experiences so we can create the best health care for everyone."

As callous as politicians can be at times, my experience as the director of a
public policy think tank has taught me that politicians really do love a good
policy idea, especially when you can show them that the public supports it.
AmericaSpeaks provides both good ideas for public policy reform and evidence of
public support. Organizing the sessions through difficult but manageable
questioning, discussion, and response makes the deliberative process transparent
and effective; extensive polling results make support for particular avenues of
reform obvious. Indeed, a California Health and Human Services assistant
secretary said that CaliforniaSpeaks had let policymakers know what California
citizens want.

Perhaps the most striking element of the AmericaSpeaks forums is the capacity
and willingness of participants to transcend their personal interests to
consider—and to consider acting on—policies that might force them to make
trade-offs in their personal lives. In a session to discuss recovery priorities
for New Orleans, for instance, one attendee humbly noted to his discussion
colleagues that "I am going to vote for [priority] three, but I am personally
affected by number two." The AmericaSpeaks forums are about inspiring
participants to think beyond their own policy ideas and political ideologies; at
the forums, participants must listen to and engage with other reasonable,
respectful people with contrasting ideas, responsibilities, and life
experiences. At Schwarzenegger's urging, the California health-care forum
concluded by asking, "How willing would you be to share in the responsibility of
paying for health-care reform that covers all Californians?" Eighty-four percent
of participants expressed some level of willingness.

So it is not that we have lost the capacity to think beyond our frames of
reference; it is that we aren't presented with enough opportunities to do so.
But when we are presented with such an opportunity, surrounded by people we
don't know and who have different experiences and views, talking about an issue
that affects the quality of all of our lives, we wind up going in unexpected
directions. Proof of this is the frequency with which participants change their
minds.

"[The participants] follow lines of inquiry," Lukensmeyer told me. "And . . .
they don't necessarily come out with the programmed answer that they would have
come in with. Huge numbers, up to 70 percent of participants, change their
position."

When we bump up against new perspectives and experiences, when we are asked new
questions that force us to think more deeply about our assumptions, we can
change our minds. We don't have to—but the fact that we can is most important.
This type of interaction, these expressions of deliberative democracy, are the
antidote to the inward direction of our daily lives. When we create the right
environment for people to come together around a shared goal, and the format and
the facilitation to help them expose their own biases but move toward an end, we
can arrive at consensus. In that consensus, there is power.

But when participants exit the town hall meeting, they return to a culture in
which deliberation across ideology is not encouraged. In fact, according to
Lukensmeyer, it is actively discouraged.

"For the vast majority of people's time," she said, "they are spending their
lives and experiences in structures and processes that are not carefully
designed to help them inquire and think and discuss; they are sitting in
structures and processes that are intentionally designed to get them to think in
a way that someone wants them to think."

Perhaps the problem is that we ask too little of ourselves in our democracy
today. If we knew that it was up to us to ask the questions that would determine
the quality of our lives, if we were given actual assignments to improve our
communities (beyond voting every four years), maybe then we would view
differently our responsibilities as citizens. Maybe then we would willingly
undertake whatever questioning it took to get to consensus, rather than focusing
on finding the perfect posture from which to hold our ideological ground. Maybe,
if it were up to us to solve the problems of our whole city or state, we would
see those with whom we disagree as necessary partners, would engage rather than
avoid. But, isolated not only from one another but also from a clear
understanding of how our participation matters, the Big Sort remains—until
Lukensmeyer and those like her force us to question it, one 21st Century Town
Meeting at a time.

THE TREE OF LIFE MUST BEAR FRUIT OR DIE.

1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. (The vine refers to what
the Biblical Old Testament calls "New Wine". Beer, wine and water have often
been used as symbols for the Genetic Efflux, which is mostly urine.)

2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and
every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring
forth more fruit. ("Bearing fruit" refers to the "Tree of Life", which is the
human body and its Genetic Rejuvenation. Jesus cursed the fig tree which bore no
fruit. It, like almost all of us, withered and died.)

BE CLEAN BY PLACING THE BLOOD OF CHRIST WITHIN YOU.

3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. (The "Three
Gems of Mahayana" are: 1. the Word or Dharma, 2. the practice or Sadhana in a
Sangha or monastic commune, and 3. the  Kriya or Purification which leads to
Tantra Moksha, known as "the Buddha Within". This is the Biblical "Washing of
Regeneration", which makes you "clean".)

ABIDE IN ME, AND I IN YOU.

4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of
itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide
in me. (This refers not to the outer Christ but the Inner Christ. The outer is
mindless idolatry, which cannot Save anybody from anything. The Inner is the
Genetic Rejuvenation and Higher Consciousness within, which is Salvation itself.
The outer Christ never personally Saved anybody. The Inner Chist is Salvation
itself. The outer Christ, which was Jesus, shows us the Way to His Inner
Manifestation.)

5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I
in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do
nothing. (It is not Christ's shed blood which Saves you. Such a blasphemous
heresy would warrant the murder of our own Savior! By recycling our own Genetic
Blood Derivatives, we place the Saving Blood of Christ in our own veins, where
it belongs.)

6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is
withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they
are burned. (If a man has not the Blood of Christ within himself, he will surely
suffer and die prematurely.)

IF I AM WITHIN YOU, YOU CAN OBTAIN YOUR DESIRES.

7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye
will, and it shall be done unto you. (This is the Yeshe Norbu or Wish-Fulfilling
Gem of Mahayana, like the Biblical Adam and Eve enjoyed before their "fall" from
paradise. Man and wife must once again become "AS ONE FLESH". Until then, the
problem of unanswered prayers will persist. This "Siddha State" is what Jesus
means when He says:
"Ask anything in my name.")

8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall
ye be my disciples. (God is glorified by inviting It, as Genetic Rejuvenation
and Higher Consciousness, inside your own body and mind. Praising God with lying
lips will never do. The Biblical Old Testament complains: "They praise me with
their lips, but their hearts are far away.")

9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in
my love. (Love is the most important factor for progressing into happiness.)

10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I
have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. (You cannot fully
receive God's grace without obedience to the Gospel.)

MY JOY MUST BE WITHIN YOU.

11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in
you, and that your joy might be full. (Joy is the single most important "fruit"
of true spiritual practice.)

12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved
you. (Love is the greatest commandment.)

THE GREATEST LOVE IS TO LAY DOWN ONE'S LIFE FOR ONE'S FRIENDS.

13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life
for his friends. (Selfless service is the real mark of a man of God.)

cheap and deceptive. It is by our actions that we are judged.)

15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not
what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things
that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. (The mark of a good
Guru, is that his disciples become his equal or even better.)

"AS ONE FLESH" IS THE TRUE NAME OR NATURE OF GOD

16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you,
that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should
remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he
may give it you. (Jesus warned: "Many will call on my name, saying: Lord, Lord,
and I will say: Get behind me Satan. I never knew you." The operant factor is
not the words, but the character of the person saying those words. Having not
obeyed the command to be "AS ONE FLESH", it is questionable if prayers will be
answered.)

I COMMAND YOU TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER.

17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.

18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated
you.

19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but
because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the
world, therefore the world hateth you. (This world suffers, because it is a
spiritual penal colony for those who, in the past, rejected Salvation. If you
doubt this, watch them do it again! Those who are not of this "blaspheming
Goliath" majority, are in a painful minority on this whorehouse planet.)

20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not
greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also
persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours
also.

21 But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake,
because they know not him that sent me. (The advocates of non-Salvation
religions are the most dangerous, since they have a crime to cover up. Falsehood
seeks to destroy the Truth, which would reveal its inner iniquities.)

22 If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but
now they have no cloke for their sin. (There is hope for Salvation, until you
reject the True Doctrine.)

THE CAUSE OF WAR: LOVING TO HATE: "THEY HATED ME WITHOUT CAUSE."

23 He that hateth me hateth my Father also. (Those who hate the Messenger, do it
because they hate the Message of Regeneration and Higher Consciousness which is
the essence of God.)

24 If I had not done among them the works which none other man did,
they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me
and my Father. (Jesus would Save us all, but men condemn themselves by evil
ignorance.)

25 But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is
written in their law, They hated me without a cause. (The Biblical New Testament
prophesies of such evil morons: "Despisers of the good". They don't like peace,
but destruction. This is how evil populations cause unnecessary wars - they
enjoy trouble!)

Father, he shall testify of me: (This "Comforter" reveals the lost Hermetic

The Biblical Old Testament states: "Death: Wherein is thy victory?"
Nevertheless, our enemies imagine it a "victory" that they have ruined our
efforts to Save the world from the coming Tribulations of famine, pandemics, war
and death. They vainly imagine that their shorter, more miserable life, is some
kind of "victory".

Like Jesus said: "If they did it to me, they'll do it to you." Also: If they did
it to Salvation, they'll do it to the planet's environment and climate, causing
mass extinctions (even of themselves)! The Biblical Old Testament states: "Gold
was the stumbling block of their iniquity."

There is no limit to the insanity of unbridled greed and conformity. This was
the friction between Elijah the prophet and "Jezebel the whore". It was
euphemistically called "harlotry" to value money more than life itself. Such
selfish and greedy people are, therefore, no better than a crime waiting to
happen.

It is not accurate to blame the few (except Reagan and Bush Sr.) for the sins of
the many. The American nation is the origin of the socio-economic boycott
against any hope for the Longer, Happier Life, and it was Americans who exported
this madness to their subservient, subordinate nations and peoples.

THE FATHER IS WITHIN US AS HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.

1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in
me.

2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would
have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. (In the "other world", away from
this one, there are many places, just as there are on earth. There are possibly
even several other dimensions.)

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and
receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. (The Hermetic
Gnosis of Tantra Vidya is again presented to the fallen
"Kalimans" of this dark age of Kali Yuga, in which the entire planet is devoid
of such knowledge. As the Biblical Old Testament says:
"There will be a dwindling in unbelief", until the prophesied
"abomination of desolation", in which the masses don't know, and, due to mental
and emotional problems, are not inclined to learn about this subject.)

4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and
how can we know the way?

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no
man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (Being the only Tantra Vaidya in Israel,
or possibly in the entire world, only through the Master could one find the Way,
the Truth, and the Life.)

8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth
us. (Both Thomas and Philip are mentioned in this chapter. They, like Matthew
and John, were disciples of Jesus and scribes, who recorded His words.)

hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the
Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? ("Seeing the Father" is to
see the Resurrected Body in a state of Regeneration, and to have also perceived
the Inner Sight and Sound of God's inner dimension. As the Biblical Old
Testament says: "When I am absent from the body, I am with God." That is why the
apostle Paul said: "I die daily". One should familiarize himself with this
Higher Consciousness, lest he have a hellish fear of the unknown, at the time of
death.)

10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me?
the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the
Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. (To "work for God" is to be
unselfish and humble. Jesus said: "Whatsoever you do unto the least of my
brethren, ye do it unto me." Serve God by Saving mankind. Like Jesus said: "The
greatest man is the servant of all." He washed the feet of His disciples to
exemplify the necessary humility for such compassionate seelfless service to
mankind.)

"FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS NOTHING". - ST. PAUL

11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else
believe me for the very works' sake. (Lips can lie, and words can deceive, but
one's own actions are the true determining factor as to the true nature of one's
character.)

WHAT I HAVE DONE YOU WILL DO AND MORE.

12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the
works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall
he do; because I go unto my Father. (In the Nag Hammadi Gospels, Jesus states:
"I am no longer your superior, since you have drunk from the same bubbling brook
that I have." There is no arrogance in the fact that we are destined to be as
great as Jesus or even greater. It is not wise to limit the highest
possibilities of our impending Salvation. But you must practice Rasa Tantra to
attain the highest states of Tantra Moksha or Hermetic Salvation.)

SITA-RAM SATA-NAM: THE QUESTION OF THE "TRUE NAME" OF GOD

13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the
Father may be glorified in the Son. (The question as to the "True Name of God"
is the proverbial battleground of sectarian fundamentalist erroneous theology.
You must be, not in a name which can be spoken with lying, ignorant lips, but in
the actual NATURE of God, which is the Higher Consciousness Engendered by the
Biblical
"Washing of Regeneration" - what Hindus call Kriya or Purification Yoga, which
is Rasa Tantra Sadhana. It is this nature, and not in any names, forms, mantras,
or rituals, that we attain what the Tibetans call the "Yeshe Norbu" - the
"Wish-Fulfilling Gem". Recall that Adam and Eve, in the Biblical Book of
Genesis, had this ability in tandem with Immortality. When they ate forbidden
food, they lost both of these fantastic powers, and were cast out of Paradise.)

14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name (nature), I will do it. (If
you live in a body and mind like those of Jesus, it is possible to attain what
you wish for. Until then, there will be the proverbial problem of unanswered
prayers. Hermetic Science is for those who are not satisfied with their current
spiritual progress, and are ready to admit the lack of proof for the usual
religious interpretations and assertions. We Hindus say SitaRam SataNam or
Ekongcar Sat Nam, meaning man and woman, like Adam and Eve "AS ONE FLESH": This
is the True Nature of the God of a thousand erroneous, argueing names but only
One True Nature. Jesus often referred to this primary teaching about Adam and
Eve "AS ONE FLESH".)

15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. (At the present time, Americans praise
the name of a man whose teachings they despise. How can God answer the prayers
of such fools? Words are cheap, and lips can lie. Of the worship of Jesus and
the calling upon His name, He warned: "Many will call on my name saying: Lord,
Lord, but I will answer: Get behind me Satan. I never knew you." In order to be
Saved, we must BE like Jesus. Otherwise, the religion degenerates into mere
idolatrous sectarian fundamentalist personality worship. All religions have this
same fundamental flaw. Only the names change, but the idolatry is the same. This
idolatrous lack of Gnosis now plagues the world, each religion with its own name
or list of names for the God of a thousand argueing names. And none of the names
are the real nature of God. When Moses, on the mount, asked God for His name,
God said: "I am what I am." That is God's true nature - not some word from out
of an ignorant mind.)

16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another
Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; (My own Guru, rightly or
wrongly, thought of himself as this "Comforter". He surely brought me the
comfort of Tantra Vidya which was absent from the world. This Hermetic Gnosis
was a great comfort to this spiritual aspirant, but caused great discomfort for
those who had long settled into comfortable lies.)

THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH, WHOM THE WORLD CANNOT RECEIVE

17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because
it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he
dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. (The only "True Christ" or "True God" is
within us. All else is idolatry. Like Svatmarama said in The Hatha Yoga
Pradipika: "Until Prana is in Shushumna and Kundalini Shakti is in the God
Chakra, all talk of religion is by people who do not know.")

18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see
me: because I live, ye shall live also.

20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me,
and I in you.

21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that
loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I
will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

decree, but from within. Every "jot and tittle" of history, was formed from the
depths of the heart and mind. The "reprobate mind" is no place to establish
sanity or world peacce.)

28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto
you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the
Father: for my Father is greater than I. (Jesus constantly warns us against
stupid, selfish arrogance and petty, pompous vanity. It has no place in "He who
is the servant of all". Humility is a primary mark of a great master: Greatness
in humility. There is also the danger that ignorant students will worship the
guru. Salvation is by the water of bioplasma - not by the idolatrous worship of
the world's greatest iconoclast.)

29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is

Fundamentalism. In Protestantism, religious movement that arose among
conservative members of various Protestant denominations early in the 20th
cent., with the object of maintaining traditional interpretations of the Bible
and of the doctrines of the Christian faith in the face of Darwinian evolution,
secularism, and the emergence of liberal theology.

A group protesting "modernist" tendencies in the churches circulated a 12-volume
publication called The Fundamentals (1909–12), in which five points of doctrine
were set forth as fundamental: the Virgin birth, the physical resurrection of
Jesus, the infallibility of the Scriptures, the substitutional atonement, and
the physical second coming of Christ. The debate between fundamentalists and
modernists was most acute among the Baptists and the Presbyterians but also
arose within other denominations. In a highly publicized case, the so-called
Monkey Trial (1925), the fundamentalist leader William Jennings Bryan won
Tennessee's case against J. T. Scopes, for teaching evolution in the public
schools (see Scopes trial). Other attempts, however, by fundamentalists in the
1920s to rid the churches of modernism and the schools of evolution failed.

By the 1930s many fundamentalists began to withdraw into independent churches
and splinter denominations, and fundamentalism became identified in the public
mind with anti-intellectualism and extremism. Many fundamentalists rejected this
image, and a movement was begun in the late 1940s to present their position in
both a more scholarly and popular way. This movement, known as neoevangelicalism
(or, more simply, evangelicalism), sought a wider following from the major
denominations through its various schools, youth programs, publications, and
radio broadcasts. The separatists saw these efforts as compromising
fundamentalist views and sought to disassociate themselves from these religious
institutions and such well-known evangelical fundamentalists as Billy Graham.

Since the late 1970s fundamentalists have embraced electoral and legislative
politics and the "electronic church" in their fight against perceived threats to
traditional religious values: so-called secular humanism, Communism, feminism,
legalized abortion, homosexuality, and the ban on school prayer. They have
continued to oppose the teaching of evolution in the schools or have sought to
have creationism or intelligent design taught as well. In recent years some
fundamentalists have also attacked the teaching of scientific theories on the
origins of the universe (see cosmology).

Those Americans who describe themselves as fundamentalists (approximately 25% of
the U.S. population) have become a political bloc in their own right. During the
1980s they made up a large portion of the new Christian right that helped put
Ronald Reagan into the White House, and early in the 21st cent. they aided
significantly in the election of George W. Bush to the presidency. The Moral
Majority, founded by the fundamentalist Baptist pastor Jerry Falwell in 1979,
was the most visible example of this new trend in the 1980s; the most prominent
current group is the Christian Coalition, headed by Pat Robertson. Moderate
fundamentalists and conservative evangelicals continue to forge new alliances,
for example in the Southern Baptist Convention, to wield political and
denominational control.

was applied to a number of ultra-conservative or militant Islamic movements
there and in other countries, such as the Taliban of Afghanistan. There are both
Shiite and Sunni fundamentalist leaders and groups, such as the Ayatollah
Khomeini and the Muslim Brotherhood. The term has also been applied to Hindu
nationalist groups in India (see Hinduism; Bharatiya Janata party).

Fundamentalism refers to a belief in a strict adherence to a set of basic
principles, sometimes as a reaction to perceived doctrinal compromises with
modern social and political life. The term fundamentalism was originally coined
to describe a narrowly defined set of beliefs that developed into a movement
within the Protestant community of the United States in the early part of the
20th century, and that had its roots in the Fundamentalist-Modernist Controversy
of that time. Until 1950, there was no entry for fundamentalism in the Oxford
English Dictionary; the derivative fundamentalist was added only in its second
1989 edition.

Scopes trial, Tennessee legal case involving the teaching of evolution in public
schools. A statute was passed (Mar., 1925) in Tennessee that prohibited the
teaching in public schools of theories contrary to accepted interpretation of
the biblical account of human creation. John T. Scopes, a biology teacher, was
tried (July, 1925) for teaching Darwinism in a Dayton, Tenn., public school.
Clarence Darrow was one of Scopes's attorneys, while William Jennings Bryan
aided the state prosecutor. Darrow argued that academic freedom was being
violated and claimed that the legislature had indicated a religious preference,
violating the separation of church and state.

He also maintained that the evolutionary theory was consistent with certain
interpretations of the Bible, and in an especially dramatic session he sharply
questioned Bryan on the latter's literal interpretation. Scopes was convicted,
partly because of the defense, which refused to plead any of the technical
defenses available, fearing an acquittal on a technical rather than a
constitutional basis. Scopes was, however, later released by the state supreme
court on a technicality. Although the outcry over the case tended to discourage
enactment of similar legislation in other states, the law was not repealed until

The "Scopes Trial" (State v. Scopes, Scopes v. State, 152 Tenn. 424, 278 S.W. 57
(Tenn. 1926), often called the "Scopes Monkey Trial") was an American legal case
that tested the Butler Act, which made it unlawful, in any state-funded
educational establishment in Tennessee, "to teach any theory that denies the
story of the Divine Creation of man as taught in the Bible, and to teach instead
that man has descended from a lower order of animals."[1] This is often
interpreted as meaning that the law forbade the teaching of any aspect of the
theory of evolution. The case was a critical turning point in the United States'
creation-evolution controversy.

After the passage of the Butler Act, the American Civil Liberties Union financed
a test case, where a Dayton, Tennessee high school teacher named John Scopes
intentionally violated the Act. Scopes was charged on May 5, 1925 with teaching
evolution from a chapter in a textbook which showed ideas developed from those
set out in Charles Darwin's book On the Origin of Species. The trial pitted two
of the pre-eminent legal minds of the time against one another; three-time
presidential candidate, Congressman and former Secretary of State William
Jennings Bryan headed up the prosecution and prominent trial attorney Clarence
Darrow spoke for the defense.[2] The famous trial was made infamous by the
fictionalized accounts given in the 1955 play Inherit the Wind, the 1960 film
adaptation, and the 1965, 1988, and 1999 television films of the same title.

ON ICONOCLASTIC NON-SECTARIAN GNOSIS

The Prophet Mohammed tolerated no icons nor forms of any kind in
Muslim worship. Jesus taught the same iconoclastic non-idolatry. Few
know that Siddhartha the Buddha taught that he not be worshipped,
that there be no icons, especially not of himself, and that there be
no rituals. The original iconoclast was our Biblical Father Abraham,
who left Ur of Chaldees, in order to escape its idolatry.

Abraham believed in the One Hidden God Within Us All, awaiting its
moment of Revelation to the soul. If you look at all of the
religious paraphenalia in the many religions, you can easily see
that the teachings of the Iconoclastic Masters are not followed.
Jesus and Buddha are now worshipped by the ignorant believers in the
misinterpreted teachings of these Hermetic or Tantric Masters.

Ironically, by the very praise of the Hermetic and Tantric Masters,
their True Teachings are ignored and betrayed. Like a wise man
said: "He who praises the King the most, is often the traitor." One
must be able to see beyond the outer appearances, into the inner
content. One must be able to understand these words of Jesus:
"Beware the wolves in Lamb's clothing". Or like a wise man said:
"All that glitters is not gold."

The Old Testament states: "They praise me with their lips, but their
hearts are far away." The world has many idolatrous sectarian
fundamentalist religions but no Sacred Gnosis and no Salvation from
Suffering. Like the Holy Bible states: "They maketh and loveth a
lie". These are mock religions to "cover one's tracks" - not True
Religions at all! Nothing good will come to a mob without reason,
sanity, or integrity.

Why is it that way, since the Real Truth has been freely and openly
available to these American fools for a full quarter century? Is it
because they are so crazy, they are stupid? Or is it because they
are so stupid, they are crazy? The hysterical taboo against the True
Revealed Gospel: That Psychotic Paranoid Schizophrenia must go.
There will be no world peace without first attaining Inner Peace.

and continues in the practice, can remain physically immortal as long as the

THE SEED OF LIFE ENGENDERETH

24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into
the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth
forth much fruit. (This reminds me of father Abraham's readiness to "sacrifice
his Son", which was symbolized by the Blood Sacrifice of a ram. Genetic Efflux
is directed inward instead of outward. It is by this DNA that we "bring forth
the fruit of the Tree of Life", which is Genetic Rejuvenation and the Higher
Consciousness it activates. Elsewhere in the Biblical Gospels, "Jesus cursed the
fig tree which bore no fruit." It withereed and died, just as all do who are
without the Lord of Life to protect them.)

HE WHO LOVES THIS LIFE WILL NOT ATTAIN THE HIGHER LIFE

25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his
life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. (Jesus once complained that
we think we are well off and don't need Salvation, stating that we were ignoring
that we are unhealthy and unhappy. Put another way, He said: "It is easier for a
camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter Heaven."
The problem is that relative abundance has made the foolish man too content with
his lot in life, and therefore, does not hanker enough to search out the Higher
Life.)

26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there
shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father
honour.

27 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me
from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.

believed not on him: (They are of what I call the "No Faith Religion", believing
only in their own ignorant doubts, while cynically and egoistically trying to
erase any hope in others. These are the "wolves in Lamb's clothing" who praise a
man whose teachings they despise.)

38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which
he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the
arm of the Lord been revealed?

39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,

40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they
should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and
be converted, and I should heal them. (Because of your lack of faith in the
Hermetic Gnosis of Tantra Vidya, you are sick, degenerating, suffering, and will
die prematurely.)

BLIND BUT SAY THEY SEE

39 And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they
which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.
(This refers to what Jesus called being, "blind in their hearts", refering to
their state of denial of reality. Jesus once entered a town saying: "I have come
not to condemn you, but to Save you". When they rejected His Message, He said
they had condemned themselves to suffering - both master and slave living in the
same mind. Jesus Saves and man condemns.)

40 And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words,
and said unto him, Are we blind also?

41 Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin:
but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth. (If you know you don't
know, you can learn, but if you are blind to your own ignorance and suffering,
it will surely remain until you acknowledge such misery. A man once came to the
Buddha seeking to become a disciple. Buddha asked him: "Why are you here? Are
you sick?" The man answered no. The Buddha replied: "I am here for the sick.
Come back when you are not well." Jesus once spoke of how we imagine we are well
off when we are not. Perhaps this moved Him to say: "It is easier for a camel to
go through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter Heaven." It is
harder for a rich man to acknowledge his inner poverty.)

Chapter 10

I HAVE  COME THAT YE MAY HAVE LIFE AND HAVE IT MORE ABUNDANTLY

7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I
am the door of the sheep.

8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the
sheep did not hear them.

9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and
shall go in and out, and find pasture.

10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to
destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might
have it more abundantly. (This is the much longer, much happier Life of which we
preach.)

11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the
sheep.

THOSE WHO CHARGE FOR SERVICES CARE NOT FOR THE FLOCK

12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the
sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and
fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. (The chance for a
greater quantity and quality of Life exists. Any teacher who ignores this fact
and does not teach it, is probably in it for the money and power and not for the
survival of the people.)

13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not
for the sheep. (You suffer and die, because of your socio-economic boycott
against the real Life-Givers and their Message of Salvation, while you reward
those who don't give a damn if you live or die.)

14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay
down my life for the sheep. (This sacrifice of one's self for the cause of the
Salvation of others: This is the proof of one's integrity and compassion. Those
who are selfish, have no Gnosis, and don't care about the suffering of others:
These are not qualified to guide us anywhere but into hell. So why do you make
them your leaders?)

16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I
must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one
fold, and one shepherd. (That "one fold" is the non-sectarian Hermetic Gnosis of
Tantra Vidya. Ignorant sectarianism is fundamentally flawed.)

17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life,
that I might take it again. (God loves us for our efforts and sacrifices to Save
ourselves an others.)

18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have
power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This
commandment have I received of my Father. (Some of His disciples still argue
that Christianity might have evolved beetter if the Master had given Himself
more time to ensure that false, heretical theological interpretations might not
develop, as they did.)

CAN A DEVIL OPEN THE EYES OF THE BLIND?

19 There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these
sayings.

20 And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye
him?

21 Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil.
Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?

YE BELIEVE NOT, BECAUSE YE ARE NOT OF MY SHEEP.

24 Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long
dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.

25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works
that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me. (Talk is cheap. Actions
speak louder than words. Words can lie, but the miracles bear witness of the
Truth.)

26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said
unto you. (Those few of us who remain, must acknowledge that many liars care not
for the mountain of evidence to prove our assertions. The Truth only makes them
mad, and proof of the Truth only makes them madder. Their love of uneccessary
contentions, portends future conflicts and wars. Having no love, they despise
peace.)

I GIVE THEM ETERNAL LIFE, AND THEY SHALL NEVER PERISH

27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish,
neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. (As we repeatedly say, this
promise of immortality is quite literal. As St. Justin Martyr said: "The
Resurrection is of the physical body." Both sinners and saints have immortality
of the consciousness of the soul. Salvation is of the physical body, and if it
does die, we go to a different place than sinners.)

29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is
able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

30 I and my Father are one. (In the physical-mental-emotional-spiritual State of
Salvation, we are At-One with God. This At-One-ment of man and wife and of them
with God is the "Blood Atonement", since through the "blood of Christ" within,
they attain it.)

FOR WHICH OF MY MANY GOOD WORKS DO YE NOW STONE ME?

31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.

32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my
Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? (Being a "stiff-necked",
arrogant people, such inflated pomposity could not have the humility to
acknowledge the superior knowledge Jesus had. They therefore refused to learn,
seeking many "sour grape" excuses for their lack of reason and compassion.)

IS IT NOT WRITTEN THAT YE ARE ALL GODS?

33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not;
but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest
thyself God.

34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye
are gods? (Jesus was At-One with God, and reminded us: "What I have done, you
will do and more." The demonic populace does not like such close communion with
the Divinity, slandering it as vainglorious, thus trying to transfer their guilt
onto the humble, innocent scapegoat.)

35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the
scripture cannot be broken;

36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the
world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.

38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye
may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him. (Like Jesus said:
"Judge a tree by its fruits." Otherwise, words can lie.)

39 Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of
their hand, (One must bear in mind that those who have fallen into the darkness
of ignorance, have put themselves there and would force others to make the same
mistake. Mind and heart is set. Therefore, it is not by conversion, but by
extinction, that the necessary improvements in mankind are made. If you are a
good person, we need you to survive, so that you can pass on your goodness to
others.)
