Communication and Culture Minister, Government Spokeswoman, Khalida
Toumi reaffirmed Sunday that Algeria "remain attached to the
principle of the Sahraoui people's self-determination". Conducting a
press conference here after the cabinet's meeting, Mrs. Toumi
pointed out that the Algerian State's official position toward the
Western Sahara issue was "clear and firm".
Pointing out that "the last statement" on this matter was included
in the message President Bouteflika sent a few days ago to his
French counterpart, Mrs. Toumi pointed out that this issue was one
of "a problem decolonisation" and not "between Algeria and Morocco".
In this context, she recalled that in his last visit here, the
United Nations special envoy for Western Sahara, James Baker,
"commended the position of all states supporting Algeria," she
said," on top of which Algeria".
