We have found a temporary fix over here at i.e. effects but newtek doesn't recommend it. All you do is right before you render a scene open it up in wordpad

LW9,5 Beta Build 1371 will not render with Spider.
It seems that Spider will no longer be able to control LightWave 3D renders from LW version 9.5 forward unless changes to Spider are made. NewTek have updated
