Reading: From the Gospel according to St. John 6: 26-35

Dear and Respected Brethren,

As our Lord was keen in feeding the people who came to see him and hear him,
many had followed Him wherever he went, only with the intention of eating
food at the right time and to get satisfied. This is what we understand from
the 26th verse of today’s reading. Our Lord told them that he could provide
the bread, which would provide eternal life and for the purpose God the
Father has sealed him. (Verse 27) We could find the witnessing of God the
Father about our Lord in St. Matthew 17:5, St. Mark 1:11 and St. Luke 3:22.
See how boldly St. Peter is talking about our Lord in Acts 2:22.

In verse 28 we read the question of the listeners to our Lord. They ask,
“What shall we do, that we might work the works of God”? Even if we are not
asking loudly, are we not keeping the same attitude in our thoughts? The
Jews were well aware of the facts and figures clearly. Still they were
trying to prove their innocence, by pretending their ignorance. We also
maintain a similar attitude in our approaches, at least on certain
occasions.

Our Lord gave a very simple answer. We also feel it as very simple. But in
practical life, let us think how difficult it would be to get an impressive
result. According to our Lord, “this is the work of God, that you believe on
him whom he has sent.” (Verse 29) If somebody might ask us who is Lord Jesus
in our personal lives, what answer we could give. In fact we haven’t yet
thought about such a possible question so far. When we would get some free
time, let us think and find out an answer. Can we calculate how much faith
we have in Lord Jesus, whom He has sent for us? How much we are concerned
about this factor? We could boast about so many things including our faith,
traditions, our family history etc. How many seconds together you and I
could talk about our Lord and Savior?

Kindly read and meditate the Verse 30 with much care and attention. They
sought a method based on their own brain. They asked for a sign so that they
could believe in Lord Jesus. They were actually acting like innocent
infants. They had already seen so many signs but their pride was not
allowing them to accept as signs. They wanted signs as they imagined or
liked. They were actually revealing their false face. Kindly think whether
we are also doing the same in our every day lives. Let us try to have
humbleness, holiness, cleanliness and transparency in our dealings with
others as well as with our Lord God.

In the 31st Verse we find “Our fathers did eat Manna in the desert; as it is
written He gave them bread from heaven to eat”. The people who told about
the Manna were under the impression that Manna was given by Moses. They had
knowledge about the past history, but it was not clear, it was vague. Our
Lord’s reply to them in the next sentence reveals this truth. Our Lord made
them believe that the bread from heaven was granted by God the Father. And
he confirmed that God the Father would grant them the real bread from
heaven. We read about the Manna which was consumed by the fathers in Exodus
9:15, Psalms 78:24, Nehemiah 9:15 and Numbers 11:7.

In Verse 33 we read, “For the bread of God is he which comes down from
heaven, and gives life to unto the world.” When they heard, they all were
excited. They told our Lord to grant them evermore. Even though they had not
gone into the depth of what they were saying, how great were those words. In
the only prayer taught by the Savior of the world, we pray for the daily
bread. Our prayers must be selfless or they must be free from selfishness.
Our Lord declares in Verse 35 that he is the bread of life. Let us long for
the bread of life always. Let us be eligible to have it on all possible
days. Let our desires, prayers and deeds be sincere and honest. May God be
pleased in our words, thoughts and deeds. May God bless us all.

Release of film pains Archdiocese
[New Indian Express; Saturday June 10 2006]

THRISSUR: The Archdiocese of Thrissur has expressed its anguish over the release
of the film The Da Vinci Code in the state. Director of public relations of the
Diocese Father Paul Alappat told Express that the film was an insult to
Christianity as it challenges the basic tenets of the religion.

The film was released at three centres in the district on Friday. When many
states in India have banned the film, the state chose to release it, he said.

“The film shows Jesus Christ as a common man leading a married life and
fathering a child,” Paul said. Although labelled as fiction, this film can
mislead the faithful, he said.

He said that senior bishops have met the Chief Minister and requested to ban the
film. But there has been no response from the State Government, he said.

Awareness classes: The meeting held at the Catholic Archbishop House chaired by
auxiliary bishop Mar Andrews Thazath on Thursday have expressed pain and protest
against the screening of the film. The diocese has decided to conduct awareness
classes for the public. After the Holy Mass on Sunday there will be a public
meeting in every church where the facts mentioned in the book and the film will
be clarified.

“The ‘Way of the Cross’ will be conducted in every church. Meetings will be held
in streets to clarify the doubts of the common man on the historical fallacy
depicted in the film,” Paul Alappat said. The diocese said that it would hold
various methods of protest if the government does not ban the film in the state.

"Beholding the undreamed-of richness of God's gifts, an obedient man is
filled with fear and amazement both at God's almightiness and his own sin.
He would then want to hide from God, that God should depart from him and he
himself return to his old spirit and his old life. But as soon as God's
splendor and His mercy are revealed to a man, his own sinfulness,
unworthiness and long estrangement from God are instantly revealed to him."

20 Big Lies in the Da Vinci Code
By James A. Beverley

Source: http://www.charismamag.com/display.php?id=12860

Don't be fooled. Here are just a few ways Dan Brown's best-selling
book twists and distorts the truth of the gospel.

In a little more than three years The Da Vinci Code has become the
best-selling adult novel of all time. It has also become the subject
of intense debate among Christians because of its radical claims that
undermine basic Christianity.

Why all the fuss over a work of fiction? The answer lies on Page 1,
where author Dan Brown asserts that "all descriptions of artwork,
architecture, documents, and secret rituals in this novel are
accurate." In reality, the novel is a model of inaccuracy in almost
every subject it addresses. Critics have noted its mistakes in
mathematics, French geography and even the layout of the Louvre. More
important, Brown's jarring claims about Jesus, the Bible, secret
societies and ritual sex are based on shallow research, sloppy
investigation and careless thought. However, given the novel's
popularity and the staggering bravado in its tone, it is necessary
for Christians to provide a critique of its central blunders.

Here are 20 of them.

1.The Bible was invented by Roman Emperor Constantine in the fourth
century.

The Da Vinci Code reports that "Constantine commissioned and financed
a new Bible," one that left out the Gnostic texts and included the
four traditional Gospels. In fact, Constantine had nothing to do with
the making of the Christian canon. He is not even mentioned in the
standard Cambridge History of the Bible. The traditional Gospels were
recognized by virtually all Christians 150 years before Constantine.

2. The Dead Sea Scrolls and the Gnostic Gospels are the "earliest
Christian records."

Not so. The Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered in 1947 and date from
250 B.C. to A.D. 100. However, these documents have virtually nothing
to do with Christianity but with various Jewish groups, rituals and
ideas before and during the time of Christ.

The Gnostic Gospels offer a twisted and heretical version of the
Christian faith, but they didn't come into existence until about a
century or more after the death of Christ. The earliest Christian
records are the writings of the New Testament.

3. The Gnostic Gospels present a positive view of the feminine.

The Gnostic texts are said to picture a human, sexualized Jesus who
embraced the sacred feminine. Actually, the Jesus presented in the
Gnostic material is often simply weird, and the underlying ideology
tends to be radically anti-feminine. Consider this bizarre passage
from the Gospel of Thomas: "Simon Peter said to them, 'Make Mary
leave us, for females don't deserve life.' Jesus said, 'Look, I will
guide her to make her male, so that she too may become a living
spirit resembling you males. For every female who makes herself male
will enter the kingdom of Heaven.'"

4. Early Christians did not believe Jesus was God's Son.

This is a bizarre claim, rooted in either willful ignorance or
blindness to the obvious. After 2,000 years, people continue to
debate whether Jesus is the Son of God. But what has never been
subject to doubt is that early Christians confessed that Jesus is
God's Son, as the following Scriptures indicate: "Simon Peter
answered and said, 'You are the Christ, the Son of the living God'"
(Matt. 16:16); "But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent
forth His Son" (Gal. 4:4).

5. The Council of Nicea (A.D. 325) invented the divinity of Jesus.

Contrary to Brown's claim, the famous church council met to clarify
the divinity of Jesus, not create it. There are thousands of
references to the divinity of Jesus in Christian literature and
archaeology before the Council at Nicea. This includes the hundreds
of claims in the New Testament and the witness of early church
leaders through the second and third centuries.

6. Jesus was really a pagan or a witch.

No standard reference works on witchcraft ever include Jesus as a
witch or pagan. The novel attempts to argue that Jesus was a copycat
figure of ancient pagan deities. This view depends on totally
ignoring the Jewish context of the life and teaching of Jesus. If
Jesus had been a pagan or a witch, this would have been noticed by
the Jewish leaders who opposed Him.

7. Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene.

The novel claims that there are "countless references" to their union
in ancient history and that the topic "has been explored ad nauseam
by modern historians." First, there is nothing in the New Testament
or other first century material about such a marriage. Second, there
is no explicit mention of the alleged marriage in the Gnostic
material of the second and third centuries. All we have in the
Gnostic material is one reference to Mary as the "companion" of
Jesus. That word, however, does not usually mean "spouse" or "wife."

8. Jesus and Mary had a child named Sarah.

The novel claims Mary was pregnant at the time of the death of Jesus.
Joseph of Arimathea, her uncle, helped her move to France. There she
gave birth to a girl she named Sarah. Mary and Sarah found refuge in
the Jewish community in France. We are told that "countless scholars
of that era chronicled Mary Magdalene's days in France." This is
nothing but historical junk first made popular by the 1982 potboiler
Holy Blood, Holy Grail. There are no ancient documents supporting any
of these claims, and no scholars of that era chronicled these alleged
events.

9. There was a smear campaign against Mary Magdalene in Catholic
tradition.

To the contrary, Mary Magdalene receives positive attention in the
Bible and in Catholic tradition. In fact, she is regarded as a saint,
and her Feast Day is July 22. As a close disciple of Jesus, she was
one of the first witnesses of His resurrection. The mistaken view
that she was a prostitute did not arise until A.D. 591 when Pope
Gregory I confused her with a prostitute mentioned in Luke 7:36-50.

10. A secret society named the Priory of Sion started in 1099 and has
protected the bones of Mary Magdalene and documents about the
bloodline of Jesus Christ.

This is one of the most significant blunders of The Da Vinci Code.
The Priory of Sion was actually started in France on May 7, 1956, by
a con artist named Pierre Plantard (1920-2000). The Priory was first
a civic organization. In the 1960s Plantard created the mythology of
a secret society led by figures such as Isaac Newton and Leonardo da
Vinci.

11. Ancient documents about the Priory were discovered in the
Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris in 1975.

The Da Vinci Code refers to these alleged parchments as Les Dossiers
Secrets. These documents are not ancient but are actually forgeries
done by Philippe de ChÃÆ'Ã'©risey (1925-1985), a co-conspirator
with Plantard. They were not discovered by the French library in 1975
but were placed there by Plantard in 1967.
Both de ChÃÆ'Ã'©risey and Plantard admitted the hoax before their
deaths. In fact, Plantard was forced to admit his fraud before Judge
Thierry Jean-Pierre in a French court case in September 1993.

12. There are historical lists of the Grand Masters of the Priory of
Sion.

Actually, when Plantard invented the Priory of Sion he copied most of
his list of Grand Masters from lists of alleged leaders of other
groups, such as the Ancient and Mystical Order Rosae Crucis, a secret
society founded in America in 1915. Plantard also changed his list of
Grand Masters as he adopted different conspiracy theories about his
Priory of Sion.

13. The Holy Grail is not the cup used at the Last Supper but the
bones of Mary Magdalene.

The novel states that "the quest for the Holy Grail is literally the
quest to kneel before the bones of Mary Magdalene. A journey to pray
at the feet of the outcast one, the lost sacred feminine."
The Holy Grail legends started about A.D. 1180 and continued through
the 19th century. They never involved claims about the bones of Mary
Magdalene. Isn't it amazing that no Priory of Sion member has ever
given in to the temptation to reveal the location of the bones of
Mary Magdalene?

14. The Knights Templar guarded the bones of Mary Magdalene and four
huge chests of ancient documents about the bloodline of Jesus Christ
and the French kings who descended from Him.

The Knights Templar is a religious military order founded in the
early 12th century. Hugues de Payens, a French Knight, led eight
comrades in the campaign to protect pilgrims to the Holy Land.
It has never been argued in the historical material about the
Templars that they protected either Mary Magdalene or documents about
French kings. These claims are the inventions of Pierre Plantard, who
declared at one point that he was the descendant of Jesus and the
proper heir to the French throne.

15. Leonardo da Vinci was once the Grand Master of the Priory of
Sion.

The Priory started 437 years after the death of the great artist. Not
one Leonardo da Vinci specialist in the entire world has supported
the view that he once headed a pagan sex cult. James Beck of Columbia
University calls this "total nonsense." Leonard da Vinci scholars
have convened special conferences in order to debunk the novel's
false claims about the famous artist.

16. Leonardo da Vinci placed Mary Magdalene next to Jesus in his
famous painting The Last Supper.

In da Vinci's time everyone believed that this person was John, the
beloved disciple. Renaissance art specialists have always noted that
John was painted in a rather effeminate manner. The painting was not
meant to reveal the identity of a woman but the tension created among
the apostles after Jesus says to them, "'One of you will betray Me'"
(Matt. 26:21). Of course, even if da Vinci put a woman next to Jesus
in his painting, this would not tell us anything about the real Last
Supper more than 14 centuries earlier.

17. The Catholic Church killed 5 million women during the Witchcraft
Inquisition.

The women targeted as witches were freethinkers, scholars,
priestesses, gypsies, nature lovers, mystics and midwives.
The novel radically misinterprets the nature and scope of the
Inquisition. First, both men and women were targeted as witches.
Second, the female victims were generally older and were not from any
specific class or profession. Third, the deaths totaled no more than
100,000, counting both males and females. Most important, the
Inquisition was rooted in the real belief that certain men and women
actually worshiped Satan and performed diabolical acts of evil.

18. French President
Francois Mitterand ordered 666 panes of glass in the pyramid at the
front entrance to the Louvre.
The novel adopts a false rumor that circulated in French society two
decades ago. Mitterand did not order 666 panes of glass to be in the
pyramid. In fact, the public relations office at the Louvre informed
me that the pyramid actually has 673 panes of glass.

19. Early Jewish as well as Christian tradition involved sex
ritualism in worship.

20 True worship involves sex ritualism.

The Da Vinci Code will bring great harm to every innocent religious
seeker who follows its endorsement of sex ritual as the path to God.
Brown is surely bluffing in his rhetoric about sex in worship. It is
impossible to imagine that he really believes his own novel's
ideology.

Would he be willing to participate in the ancient ritual that The Da
Vinci Code defends? Would he really recommend this ancient ritual to
his wife, family and friends?

In both book and movie form The Da Vinci Code represents a threat as
well as an opportunity for Christians. Its danger lies in its
strident assertions of falsehoods that undermine basic teachings of
the gospel.

Uninformed readers and moviegoers must be made aware of the
historical blunders in Dan Brown's claims. At the same time, the
novel and movie create an unprecedented opportunity for believers to
witness about the reliability of the Bible and its central redemptive
message that the Son of God became flesh, died on the cross and rose
again.

Dear All,

WE have uploaded the pdf format of a special issue published in Feb.2003. Please
click the URL below.
http://www.viswasasamrakshakan.org/special.pdf
This issue is very important with the Judgement and evaluation of the Police
protection case which was filed by Mathews11 Catholica Bava seeking entry to a
few churches of the Patriarchal side including Manarcadu Church.

He was seeking his authority over parish churches as he was elected as the
Malankara Metropolitan at the Parumal Association. The Division Bench of the
Kerala High Court including the chief justice prounced this judgement
disallowing his claims. He then filed an appeal at the Supreme court of India
but it was not yet considered and the appellent expired before the case was
posted. The present Didimos Bava has filed petition to implead him in the
latter's position. But his own people has opposed his move. The whole case is
now pending before the Supreme Court without any stay or finding over the HC
judgement.

This means that the present valid judicial predicament is this judgement.
Discarding this legal finding I have seen many statements from responsible
personalities sidlining this legal authority.

We are making this available for those interested to know the facts and the true
position.

"This is the beginning of salvation not only fur us, who are besieged by bad
habits and passions, but also for the saints themselves, even though the
measure and depth of the repentance is more profound than our. St. Cassian
says that the sins and transgressions of the commandments committed by the
saints do not diminish their sanctity. Does not the righteous man sin seven
times a day [Prob. 24:16]? But he rises each time and does not spend a
minute without tears and repentance. Yes, we sin every day, at times
consciously or out of forgetfulness, without intending to or involuntarily,
or because of our weakness we sin every day willingly and unwillingly. Is
this not what the apostle Paul refers to when he says, 'I do what I do not

"...the spiritual joy which comes from the mind into the body is in no way
corrupted by the communion with the body, but transforms the body and makes
it spiritual, because it then rejects all the evil appetites of the body; it
no longer drags the soul downwards, but is elevated together with it. Thus
it is that the whole man becomes spirit, as it is written: 'He who is born
of Spirit, is spirit.'"

Dear Members and Readers of SOCM forum

It is glad to know that the publication of “viswasasamrakshakan” is great
victory, in the last issue it is learned from the e editors note that there is
a request of paper publication and electronic edition simultaneously .May God
bless all of you involved in this task. It is becoming more and more beautiful
after each issue. All articles are useful to upgrade / recollect our knowledge.
Thanks for the editorial board.

In June 1-15 issue There was a full text of Patriarch Bava’s Kalpana
regarding insertion of Gregorious Abdul Jaleel Bavas name in 5th Tubden I
remember a “kalpana” same like to add the name of St. Thomas. As per my
belief we cannot amend the text which Patriarch Bava sending to us. Regarding
St. Thomas the text was like this “Bharatathil nammude kartavinte divya
suvishesam ariyichu kartavil namme janippicha nammude kavalpitavaya mor thoma
slehaye yum .......” We added it with pen in the Qurbana kramam. Unfortunately
in the new edition of Qurbana kramam they straightly cut and made it short
NAMMUDE KAVALPITAVAYA…….” Is it allowed? I asked this question to one of our

Greetings to All,

"I find nothing in the Bible but holiness, and nothing in the world but
worldliness. Therefore, if I live in the world, I will become worldly; on the
other hand, if I live in the Bible, I will become holy." - Smith Wigglesworth

The Apostle Peter admonished the Body of Christ in 1 Peter 1:14-16 in this
manner - "As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the
former lusts in your ignorance: But as He which hath called you is holy, so be
ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, BE YE HOLY; FOR I
AM HOLY."

Is it possible nowadays for people, in the midst of this "adulterous and sinful
generation," to actually "be...holy" in their behavior, ways, or manner of life?

What about all the teachings in the Church at this present hour that say that we
cannot help but sin in thought, word, or deed? Surely, these "Teachers" and
"Preachers" don't agree with Peter's inspired words here. They actually do not
believe that it is possible for anyone to live "holy." After all, they openly
and boldly emphasize that we are still "sinners" saved by grace.

We may have been "sinners" at one time, but does the Bible still called the
"Redeemed of the Lord" "sinners"? Or does it now refer to us as "saints" -
sanctified ones - "vessels of honor for God" - holy, separate, and set apart
from this world for God's use?

Would God be so oppressive and ironhanded as to command us to be "holy" and not
give us the means to be so?

What Father would bid his children to do a task that is beyond their capability
without giving them the tools in order to get the job done?

Matthew 7:11 - If we, "being evil, know how to give good gifts unto our
children, how much more shall our Father in Heaven give us the means to obey His
command to "be holy"?

In Psalm 119:9, the Psalmist asked a very relevant question - one that many are
asking even in our day and time - "Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his
way?"

In other words, where can I go to get help in leading a pure and holy life?
Where can I find the power to resist temptation or to put to death the
affections and lusts of my flesh?

The Word of God has the answer. In fact, the Word of God is the answer.

In this message, we will examine 18 Steps To Holiness. They are in no way
exhaustive, but they will surely help to set and keep you on the right track.

They are as follows:

1. Make The Word Of God Your Rule

Psalm 119:9 - "Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed
thereto according to Thy word."

The #1 way to holiness is to make God's Word your rule for your life and
conduct, govern yourself accordingly, and resolve to conform to it in every
measure.

2. Seek God With Your Whole Heart

Psalm 119:10 - "With my whole heart have I sought Thee..."

With every affection of your heart - reserving none for any possible idols -
follow hard after God. Continuously cry out to Him for more wisdom, strength,
and a tender spirit.

3. Realize Your Weaknesses

Psalm 119:10 - "...O let me not wander from Thy commandments." Psalm 119:25 -
"My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken Thou me according to Thy word."

In order to stay in the path of duty, you have to realize your constant need for
self-denial and restraint. You are prone to wander and err except for the Lord's
intervention.

Your life is generally glued to or adheres firmly to that which is of this world
- "dust." Earthly things and desires are unfailingly contesting to pull you away
from your allegiance to Jesus.

It takes God's Word to strengthen and empower you to break away from these evil
and worldly propensities.

4. Hide God's Word In Your Heart

Psalm 119:11 - "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against
Thee."

Like a secret power in operation at all times, the Word of God is constituted to
act as a deterrent against all evil in your life. In order to do so, however, it
must be layed up, treasured, or hoarded in your heart so that, at a moment's
notice, it is available to respond to life's situation.

5. Magnify God As Your Source Of Strength

Psalm 119:12 - "Blessed art Thou, O LORD..."

God is to be praised as your One and Only Preserver from evil. Through His Word,
He keeps you from falling.

6. Cry Out For Instruction

Psalm 119:12 - "...teach me Thy statutes." Psalm 119:26 - "...teach me Thy
statutes." Psalm 119:27 - "Make me to understand the way of Thy precepts..."
Psalm 119:19 - "...hide not Thy commandments from me."

Become more and more acquainted with Jesus' ways so that you can walk
accordingly.

7. Tell Others What You Have Learned

Psalm 119:13 - "With my lips have I declared all the judgments of Thy mouth."
Psalm 119:27 - "...so shall I talk of Thy wondrous works."

Once you learn a principle, you are then responsible to share it with others so
that they, in turn, will be able to walk uprightly. This practice will reinforce
the teaching in your own heart.

8. Consider God's Word As Your Chief Joy In Life

Psalm 119: 14 - "I have rejoiced in the way of Thy testimonies, as much as in
all riches." Psalm 119:16 - "I will delight myself in Thy statutes..." Psalm
119:24 - "Thy testimonies also are my delight..."

Nothing - not even possessions, positions, or great wealth - can replace the
Word as being the principal source of happiness and rejoicing in your heart.

The word "delight" used in the above Scripture actually means to skip about and
jump for joy. With such exuberance, the Word is to have First Place in your
life.

9. Allow God's Word To Rule Your Thoughts

Psalm 119:15 - "I will meditate in Thy precepts..."

You are instructed here to meditate frequently on God's words, works, and ways.
They are to govern your thoughts and bring about self-examination and reflection
to your path.

10. Don't Allow Anything Of This World To Crowd Out The Word

Psalm 119:15 - "I will...have respect unto Thy ways." Psalm 119:16 - "...I will
not forget Thy word."

Have a constant regard for what the Word says and make your decisions
accordingly, not allowing any "ungodly counsel" to steer you in the wrong
direction.

11. Plead For God's Enabling Grace

Psalm 119:17 - "Deal bountifully with Thy servant, that I may live, and keep Thy
Word."

The only way you can possibly live for God in this ungodly world is by God's
Grace. As one in desperate straits, beg God to show His favor upon you so that
you will "live" and not die.

12. Pray For A Special Illumination Of The Word

Psalm 119:18 - "Open Thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of
Thy Law."

All the answers that you will ever need for life's problems or dilemmas are
found in the Scriptures. Don't be satisfied with a surface knowledge of the
Word. Be a diligent miner who digs deeply into God's inexhaustible resources. Be
like Jacob and wrestle with the Lord for the answers that you so desperately
need.

Each time that you open up the Word, ask God to remove the scales from your
spiritual eyes that may have developed through Sin, compromise, or worldliness.
Plead with Him to remove any veil of unbelief, doubt, fear, or hardness of heart
that would prevent a clear vision of His mind. Implore Him to reveal, uncover,
and make bare any and all spiritual Truths that are needful for your life at the
moment.

13. Recognize Your Status In This World As A Christian

Psalm 119:19 - "I am a stranger in the earth..."

Never forget that this world is not your home. As a pilgrim who belongs to
another country, you are just simply passing through. Hence, nothing is
permanent or forever.

14. Hunger For More Of God

Psalm 119:20 - "My soul breaketh for the longing that it hath unto Thy judgments
at all times."

Let your soul become desperate for God to the point of breaking. Long for His
righteousness. Intensely desire to hear from Him.

15. Stay Humble

Psalm 119:21 - "Thou hast rebuked the proud that are cursed, which do err from
Thy commandments."

Recognize that pride in your heart will cause you to err from the Truth and reap
the awful displeasure of God on your life. Stay away from it at all costs.

16. Watch Out For The Accusations

Psalm 119:22 - "Remove from me reproach and contempt; for I have kept Thy
testimonies." Psalm 119:23 - "Princes also did sit and speak against me..."

As soon as you determine in your heart that you are going to "go all the way"
with Jesus, the devil will be sure to raise up the "Princes" to send "reproach
and contempt" your way. There will be those - even in authority - who will try
to tear you down from your place of excellence.

Because these "Princes" are not where they should be in the Lord, your testimony
and life will be a direct affront to their lukewarmness, compromise, or deadness
of soul and spirit. They will charge you with being self-righteous,
hypocritical, insincere, fanatical, extreme, and overboard. Whatever you do,
don't allow anyone to throw their "wet blankets" on your fire. Keep on keeping
on for the Lord.

17. Recognize The Word As Your Only Counselor

Psalm 119:24 - "Thy testimonies also are my...counselors."

In this day of "anything goes," so many are running to man for answers because
they simply do not know the difference between right and wrong.

The Scriptures are to be your One and Only "counselors" - "men of my counsel."
You are to consider them as your closest Friends to whom you seek for godly
advice, insight, or direction. Any "words" given to you that are not in keeping
with the Word of God are to be trashed and treated with utmost contempt as
something wicked, evil, and deadly.

18. Surrender All To Jesus

Psalm 119:26 - "I have declared my ways, and Thou heardest me..."

Don't allow any cares, troubles, anxieties, or plans to snuff out the Word in
your heart and mind. Lay them at the feet of Jesus and leave them there. He can
handle them - He's God.

Once again, we refer to the opening quote by Smith Wigglesworth - "I find
nothing in the Bible but holiness, and nothing in the world but worldliness.
Therefore, if I live in the world, I will become worldly; on the other hand, if
I live in the Bible, I will become holy."

It all narrows down to one question - Are you living in the world or in the
Bible?

That will determine whether you are worldly or holy - whether you are living in
defeat or victory over Sin every day as God ordained.

It's not God's fault that you are not holy. He has given you every means to live
a life that is pleasing in His sight.

This message outlines some possible steps to help you on your journey.

In looking over the 18 steps, how many are you already practicing? Which ones
need to be developed or applied to your everyday life?

Why not take the time now to ask God for His Abundant Grace to make all 18 a
part of your life?

May God Bless His Word.

Dear All,

I feel pity about these kinds of researchers and conclusions. Do a Da Vinci
Code or a Dan Brown matters a little to a Christian for his belief? Is the faith
in Christ made up down with one Book / movie / portray? I believe definitely
not. As far as Christians are concern, we believe Holy Bible as the valid source
of faith, but least not the Gnostic Gospel.

From the beginning, in all the centuries there were well know orators who
stood against the true belief (Few know names Nestore, Arius). They were
intellectuals to write and teach against the true belief, but were renounced by
the community. In a later stage, it is not advisable to account those documents
as the teaching of Christianity.

For the best example you can find plenty of websites and books came up
recently which stands against the Syriac traditions and its relationship with
Malankara. Also you might have noticed some of “so-called” intellectuals coming
up with those links in different forums and trying to question the authority. Do
you ever felt those postings affect at least a little on the faith of true
believers? No! Definitely not! So only treat these Da Vinci Code/ Dan Brown as
same.

I’ve heard orators telling about the new magnitude of mission and the new
vision which needs in this era for Christianity. But believe me, the vision of
Christ remains unchanged from the beginning and the mission passed over to the
community by our Lord remains same with the same importance in all era. I like
to view those only from the Christ-centric and the Holy Bible stand point.
Christ remains same yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Few more words before I conclude…

All this note is not about to prevent others from reading the book or viewing
the movie. This is my personal view and is open for any kind of inputs. There
was a great artist who was talented with his art work. He portrayed a momentous
event of our Lord. I respect him. One wants to view that picture in a different
way. Dan Brown view Christianity not from the Christ-centric and the Holy Bible
stand point. It’s up to him. Forbidding does not make sense. So if one person
not accepting the faith, does not changes vision of Christ and the mission that
Christ extended to Holy Church. I do not think a true believer reads his views
can move away from the Lords mission he/she holds. Christ remains same
yesterday, today and tomorrow.

SCARS OF LIFE

Some years ago, on a hot summer day in south Florida, a little boy decided
to go for a swim in the old swimming hole behind his house. In a hurry to
dive into the cool water, he ran out the back door, leaving behind shoes,
socks, and shirt as he went. He flew into the water, not realizing that as
he swam toward the middle of the lake, an alligator was swimming toward the
shore.
>
His father working in the yard saw the two as they got closer and closer
together. In utter fear, he ran toward the water, yelling to his son as
loudly as he could.
>
Hearing his voice, the little boy became alarmed and made a U-turn to swim
to his father. It was too late. Just as he reached his father, the
alligator reached him. From the dock, the father grabbed his little boy by
the arms just as the alligator snatched his legs. That began an incredible
tug-of-war between the two. The alligator was much stronger than the
father, but the father was much too passionate to let go. A
farmer happened to drive by, heard his screams, raced from his truck,   took
aim and shot the alligator.
>
Remarkably, after weeks and weeks in the hospital, the little boy survived.
His legs were extremely scarred by the vicious attack of the animal. And,
on his arms, were deep scratches where his father's fingernails dug into
his flesh in his effort to hang on to the son he loved.
>
The newspaper reporter who interviewed the boy after the trauma, asked if
he would show him his scars. The boy lifted his trousers. And then, with
obvious pride, he said to the reporter, "But look at my arms. I have great
scars on my arms, too. I have them because! My Dad wouldn't let
go."
>
You and I can identify with that little boy. We have scars, too. No, not
from an alligator, but the scars of a painful past. Some of those scars are
unsightly and have caused us deep regret. But, some wounds, my friend, are
because God has refused to let go. In the midst of your struggle, He's been
there holding on to you.
>
The Scripture teaches that God loves you. You are a child of God. He wants
to protect you and provide for you in every way But sometimes we foolishly
wade into dangerous situations, not knowing what lies
ahead.
The swimming hole of life is filled with peril -- and we forget that the
enemy is waiting to attack. That's when the tug-of-war begins -- and if you
have the scars of His love on your arms, be very, very grateful. He
did not and will not ever let you go.
>
Please pass this on to those you love. God has blessed you, so that you can
be a blessing to others. You just never know where a person is in his/her
life and what they are going through.
>
Never judge another persons scars, because you don't know how they got
them. >
Right now, someone needs to know that God loves them, and you love them,
too-enough to not let them go.

Thank you Mr. Saju Varghese for an inspiring message on holiness. You
are right; we are all called to become holy, as He is holy. Saints
don't just live in the past, but should be living amongst us today.
Sainthood should be the goal of all Christians.

I would like to add another step that's usually forgotten in regards
to attaining holiness. Besides the sacraments, the church as a
community plays a vital role in becoming holy. Why does God say, "For
where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in
their midst"? (Matt. 18:20) Why two or three and not one?

The church is a family of believers who have one common goal: Know God
& Imitate Him. None of us are immune to temptations. Given the right
situation, you and I are capable of sin. The Word of God can only go
so far. You can read it all you want and study it, but living it is
another issue! We need others who will keep us on the right track.
"Mind your own business" is not a Christian phrase. We are called and
commanded to be involved in each other's lives.

Unfortunately, the church may not be meeting this need. It has become
a Sunday institution. The priests have become part-time workers. The
members have become part-time believers. Satan loves detached
believers who are unplugged from the life of the Body, isolated from
God's family.

This is not the norm for a church. I've heard the saying many times
at my seminary: the church should be a hospital for its believers.
It's a place where we share our hurts, reveal our feelings, confess
our failures, disclose our doubts, admit our fears, acknowledge our
weaknesses, and ask for help and prayer. All of us need someone to
help us along the journey we are meant to not travel alone. We need
someone whom we can trust to share our strengths and weaknesses. We
need someone to call upon during our trials and temptations. I'm not
just talking about a priest, but also elders & youth leaders in the
church. I hope that one day, our church will return to this state.
But in the meantime, we must try to reach out to others whom we trust
to help us in our journey. We all need a spiritual father, mother,
brother, or sister. We can't do it on our own. I've tried and
failed. As my spiritual father told me, we are communal beings who
need each other. This is God's purpose. I hope and pray that we are
able to find others who can help us in our journey to holiness.

Step 19 to Holiness: Don't do it on your own; seek other believers
for help along the way.

God Bless,
George Aramath

Subject: Rajasthan :anti-conversion bill to be presented again
SOCM News Bureau
Send Email Send Email

Jaipur (AsiaNews) – The government of Rajasthan has sent a
controversial anti-conversion decree back to Pratibha Patil, the
State governor, for a second time. Patil refused to sign the bill
last month, returning it to parliament. Explaining her decision not
to sign the bill into law, Patil had asked politicians to put the
matter in the hands of the President of the Union because "the bill
seems to affect people's fundamental right to freedom of religion".

"We pray to God that He may enlighten Governor Patil and the
President of India to refrain from giving their assent to this Bill,"
Mgr Oswald Lewis, bishop of Jaipur, told AsiaNews. "The first round
of this affair was a victory for us and now we must pray incessantly
that it will be repeated. We have asked all the population of the
state to join us in prayer so that those in responsibility will
listen to the voice of their conscience."

Fr Babu Joseph, spokesman of the Indian Bishops' Conference told
AsiaNews: "The government of Rajasthan has done as we expected it
would and sent the bill back without changing it. We are confident
the governor will tackle the situation by standing by her earlier
views, rejecting the decree, which is nothing but a legislative tool
to harass innocent people in the name of religion."

He added: "We urge one and all not to surrender to this draconian
measure by the government and to press ahead in the struggle for
freedom of choice, the fundamental right of all people. "

His appeal was echoed by John Dayal, chairman of the All India
Catholic Union and a renowned activist for human rights. He said: "If
the law is approved, we will appeal to the high court but if, as we
think, it is presented to the president first, we are ready: we have
an appeal drafted by an eminent jurist, Rajeev Dhawan, and his
colleagues, saying the bill should not be passed into law. The main
Christian groups of the country have mobilized and we are expecting
many others to join us in our stand against the law."

The wording of the bill was approved by the State Assembly at the
beginning of April, after it was submitted by Vasundhra Raje Scindia,
the state's prime minister who is a member of the Bharatiya Janata
Party (BJP, India's largest political party with fundamentalist,
nationalist leanings). The Assembly debate was a furious one, given
the strong opposition by all non-Nationalist parties and several
human rights groups.

The Rajasthan Dharma Swatantrik Vidhayak [Indian name of the bill]
allows the authorities to use "any means to prevent conversions" and
provides for penalties ranging from two to five years imprisonment
for those found guilty. Similar laws are in force in Orissa, Madhya
Pradesh and Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. In the last, the law was
nullified by a state ordinance issued by the same government – also
of Nationalist brand – that had passed it. The new government,
composed of democrats, has promised to abolish the law "as soon as
possible".

Christians make up 0.11% of the population in Rajasthan while Muslims
account for 8% and Hindus for 89%.

Reading: From the Gospel according to St. Matthew 10:5-16

Dear and Respected Brethren,

Our Lord Jesus Christ gave certain personal instructions like what to do and
what not to do, to His blessed Apostles before sending them out to execute
the great mission work. The same is the main theme of today’s reading’s
first part. We find our Lord’s advice not to go into the way of the Gentiles
and into any city o the Samaritans but go rather to the lost sheep of the
house of Israel. Please give heed to Prophet Isaiah, who exhorts “we all
have gone astray like the sheep. Every one has turned to his own way”
(Isaiah 53:6) Prophet Jeremiah says “my people have been lost sheep”
(Jeremiah 50:6) Have we ever thought why the sheep, which are so dear and
pets of each Shepherds get lost or how they go astray? When the sheep gets
immersed in the selfishness, it runs away from the flock without the notice
of the shepherd. The shepherd is always careful, caring and loving each one
of the sheep. As the sheep identifies the Shepherd and his voice, the
shepherd also identifies the voice, nature and likings of each and every one
of his sheep. We should not forget the truth that the sheep is running
astray when they are called by their very name and brought out of the shed
to feed them in the green pastures. We should not ignore the fact that the
wolves in the attire of the sheep are taking away the sheep from the flock.

The Satan and evil forces could influence the true faithful, who utter
always “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want” and they stay close to
Lord God. The Satanic forces could insert selfishness and evil thoughts and
desires in the true faithful easily. In our daily lives the Satanic forces
are after us to take us also to their custody, where there are the
experiences of the hell. Let us make sure that we are not trapped in the
nets of the evil forces after us. What is our real position? Are we still
under the control of our Shepherd? If we have gone astray from our shed,
which is the Godly love and care, let us go back to our Shepherd with real
repentance and faith. If so we would be able to confess like St. Paul, Will
God forsake his own people, he will not”. (Romans 11:1) Let the heaven
rejoice about us as “You were as sheep going astray; but are now turned unto
the Shepherd” (1 Peter 2:25) Let us answer our Lord after identifying his
sweet voice. In fact our Lord and Shepherd is weeping while He is searching
us. Let us submit ourselves at the feet of our Lord with true repentance,
love and faith. He will bless us after taking us in His arms and keeping us
close to his chest.

We must remember that our Lord had sent his Apostles to the many who had
gone astray from the true shepherd, Lord God, and might have lost the Godly
love in them. Our Lord asks them to exhort “the Kingdom of God is at hand”.
Now our Lord God is asking each and every one of us and to the Holy Church
to introduce God and His love to the ones who are totally ignorant of the
divine true love. Our Lord Jesus expects from us all that we must introduce
the Love and make them realize that God is love. Will you please think
silently what would be our response to such a need from our Lord and Savior?
Our Holy Church has adopted a policy of the real gospel work. It is sure
that the real work is not attracting many and giving them compulsory
baptism, so that the total number of the Church would increase tremendously
and to such we could offer false promises and supports. We are supposed to
make others realize the deepness and width of God’s love. We will have to
create awareness about the salvation process introduced by our Lord for the
entire world and entire mankind. Let others be also inherit the faith, hope
and prayer. In short our Holy Church believes that the real gospel work is
the transformation of minds. For this need, how much you and I could
co-operate? Teaching, healing and feeding missions are the tasks and
responsibilities of the Holy Church. We cannot escape from our
responsibilities, by saying that the Church will do the rest. We could
participate in the activities of the Holy Church with our mind, body and
financial assistance. We should not get satisfied with the namesake
activities. Let our activities be living, enthusiastic and energetic.

May God bless us all.
