Holy Altar of our St.Mary's Syrian Orthodox Church, Whiteplains, New

York and we prayed for the departed soul.

      We also pray for the sorrowful family to the Heavenly Father

who called little Elda to be among His multitude of glorifying

angels. May our Mighty Father comfort every one of you with the

surety that Elda is enjoying His fondness and that we all will join

her eventually.

It is a fact that, few among us think wearing a cross, a regular in attending

the Holly Mass, closeness to any High Priest/Bishop/Priest etc. will help us

attain salvation. Likewise a new trend is created among a few of us to believe

that Confession through letter will suffice the sanctity of this Holy Sacrament.

Let us not forget that how our Lord rebuked the Isralites about saying "Korban"

to their parents, and their beliefe that they are relieved of their

responsibility. As a common man, all of us would like to get maximum benefits

through least minimum sacrifice. Slowly the numbers among us is getting

increased day by day in criticising our Orthodox traditions, belief, faith and

dogmas. It is tragic to notice that these people find support from amongst the

priestlings also.



If one go through the Catholic Church History in Europe, the practice of issuing

letters of indulgence was widely practiced by them. Slowly the Catholic Church

started selling it for a price. The priests and bishops got this idea of

marketing this thereby an opportunity to amass wealth. They exploited this

opportunity at its maximum. Almost the entire Europe's wealth came under the

Church. (This is the secret beind the Roman Church's wealth, and they do not

need any financial help from its members). The Roman Church became so powerful,

mightier than the once mightly Roman Empire. The Church became the deciding

factor who will be next Empire of the Great Nation. But the sufferings of the

poor, meek and landless increased to its maximum, and finally the revolt against

the church lead to the birth of Protestantinism of the Church. The loose-end

protestentinism not only attracted the poor, but also the affluent in the

society. The practice of selling the indulgence through which the church amassed

the wealth paved the way for the disintegration of not only the mighty Roman

Empire into numerous small states, but also division in the Holy Church. This

phenomena is still continuing with further disintegration of Church for the last

5-6 centuries. If we start counting the denominations of various Christian

Churches, we will be astonished to believe, how such a marvellous body of our

Lord disintegrated into thousands particles, without have any common faith, love

amongst each - in fact waiting to attach each other, but with only one thing in

common - the label as Christians. Is this the way our Lord visualized the spread

of his message first through the messengers, later through the Apostles.



My humble opinion is that, we, the faithfuls of the Orthodox Church, should

never think to dilute anything we inherited from our forefathers. To keep our

faith, we may have to shred away our ego, we may have to sacrifice something so

dear to us, through which only we will be succeeding in preserving our faith,

and hand over it to the coming generations. Let us not look around, how other

Church practices are, how they fare in their dealings with the situations, you

may feel more comfortable with some of their actions. Let us not be like

fire-flies, which is attracted to the fire and how tragic their end is. Like the

fire-flies lot among us are attracted towards the other denominations, and

nobody can prevent them in doing so.



Let us rejoice in our traditions. Let us observe all our Holy Sacraments and

prayers with utmost care and vigour. We can be a proud Orthodox faithful, only

if we keep our traditions in tact.

By the grace of God, SOCM PRAYER CELL started its 13th 24- hour Global Chain

Prayer by Rev. Fr. Geevarghese Kattuchira, the Vicar of St. Mary's Jacobite

Church, Kuwait and followed by various dedicated priests and laity members from

all over the world, without barriers of denominations.

Does God Know Everything about the Future? That is the

question that I will answer throughout this paper. And I will supply

you with scripture references and also answers that some of the top

philosophers have. I will argue that God does know everything about

the future. First I will share the Open Theism of Gregory A. Boyd,

then I will share the difference between Molinism (Lane Craig) and

Classical Theism (Helm) and to rap up everything I will share my

argument defending the Classical Theism of God knowing everything

about the future.

	 Gregory A. Boyd is one of the authors of the book, Divine

Foreknowledge: Four views. I really liked his thoughts because it

was kind of different to what I was taught and also brought up to

believe. First Boyd says that, "Since God knows all of reality

perfectly, this view holds that He knows the possible aspects as

possible and knows the settled aspects as settled." I think what he

is trying to say here is that God knows what He did already in the

past and all the things that are possible in the future. " The

sovereign Creator settles whatever He wants to settle about the

future, and hence he perfectly foreknows the future as settled to

this extent." This is saying that since God created this world and

is the creator of us He would have to know what is in store for all

of us. This also means that He could end this world at any moment

and also could change this world if He wanted to.  Boyd also says, "

God has always been as certain about the future as He is about the

past." That is kind of what was said earlier. It is saying that God

had a plan to create this world, and that He would work through

everything He had created and also bring it to an end. Boyd also

goes on to say that, " All Christians agree that God is omniscient

and therefore knows all of reality  perfectly." What Boyd is trying

to state here is that God does know reality, which is right now, but

God does not know the future. So reality is what is going on now and

in the past and the future is what is tomorrow or the day after.

That is couple of the insights that Boyd had about this subject. I

agreed with a lot of the things that Boyd had to say.  In this book

Boyd took the defense that the Bible certainly celebrates God's

Foreknowledge  and control of the future.

	 But when you look at Molinism and Classical Theism it is the

opposite to what Boyd had to say. Molinism  is the doctrines of the

Molinists, somewhat resembling the tenets of the Arminians. In

Craig's book, The Only Wise God, Craig divides Gods Knowledge into

three distinct logical moments. The first moment of God's knowledge

is Natural Knowledge. This is when God knows what is necessary and

what is possible. This means that God knows everything that is

logically possible. The second moment of God's knowledge is called

middle knowledge. Middle knowledge is, "God's knowledge of what

every possible free creature would do under any possible set of

circumstances." This is stating that God knows everything that a

free creature (Humans) would do in a situation that God puts them

in. The third moment of God's knowledge is called free knowledge.

This is God's knowledge of the actual world, which He has created.

This includes His foreknowledge of everything that will happen. This

means that since God created the world, He knows everything that

will happen to it and everyone in it. In the book, Eternal God : A

Study of God without Time, Paul Helm states that God does know

everything about the future. In this selection Helm uses the

Biblical backgrounds to shape this debate of weather or not God

knows everything about the future.

       These are the biblical background of the question, Does God

Know The Future? Boyd says that, " The Bible unequivocally

celebrates God's foreknowledge and control of the future." When I

was reading this book I read Is 46:9-11, " For I am God, and There

is no other; I am God, and there is no one like me, declaring the

end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, I

have spoken, and I will bring it to pass, I have planned, and I will

do it." This passage says a lot because God is the creator and that

He would do anything that He wants to do. In this passage God also

says that what ever I say will go. Then in Is 48: 3-5 it says, " The

former things I declared long ago, they went out from my mouth and I

made them known; then suddenly I did them and they came to pass…."

This was important because God said that what ever comes from My

mouth will happen. So this is when He was creating the world and

everything that lived in it. When I was reading this book and also

the Bible I came across couple of events that lead me to believe

that God really did know about the future. For instance God

predicted that the Israelites would be in captivity in Egypt for

four hundred years. This could be found in Genesis 15:13-15. Boyd

also stated that God also once in a while warned everyone

about "future destructions" of cities and nations. But in Kings 13:1-

2 and also Is 45:1 " God named several people before they were born

and foretold some of their accomplishments." If God didn't know the

future then how come before some people before they were born, God

knew what they would do? There were some other aspects that dealt

with His son Jesus. For example " God foreknew that Christ would be

crucified by wicked people." That is found in Acts 2:23, 4:27-28).

God also knew that Christ would be pierced in His side, and that He

would be served vinegar (Jn.19: 28-29.) The amazing part of this is

that God's Son Jesus Christ knew that Judas would betray Him and

that Peter would Deny Him three times. This is found in  (Mt 26:34;

Jn. 6:64, 70-71; 13:18-19). This was very important because The Son

of God knew what His future was going to be like and that who would

follow Him and also Betray Him.

       Boyd says that, " The scriptural motif reassures believers

that however out of control the world may seem, Our Lord is steering

history toward his desired end." In this reading I came to realize

that when God was creating everything He had some stuff set in stone

and the other things He had put in at a later time. In Boyd's

word, " God settled most things in the begging."  When we look at

the betrayal of Judas, Scripture says that Jesus knew from the start

that Judas was going to betray Him. This is found in John 6:64. But

in this book it says that, " Jesus knew who would betray Him early

on, either from the moment this person resolved it in his heart to

betray Him or from the time when Jesus chose him to be a disciple."

This is found in Phil. 4:15. This means that Jesus knew either when

Judas had the heart to go and betray Him or when Jesus appointed him

as one of the apostles.  But Boyd said that, " Jesus tells us that

Judas fulfilled Scripture, and that Judas could have and should have

chosen a different path for his life than the one he chose." This is

true because the person that betrayed Jesus Christ was a person that

Jesus chooses to be one of His followers. So if Judas did take

another path then God would have chosen someone to take his place in

history. Now I want to turn to Peter. Jesus Christ knew in the

Beginning that Peter would deny Him three times before morning. This

is found in Mt. 26:34. This is important because Jesus didn't know

fully; God spoke to Him and revealed an aspect of Peter's life. This

was a very big event in the Bible because Peter became to be the

pillar of the Church.

       "If we did not have any scriptural evidence of the future's

being open at least in part, then we could perhaps justifiably argue

that the above evidence that suggests that some of the future is

settles, supports the conclusion that the future is exhaustively

settled. So my question was, Does God Know Everything About the

Future? And my answer is YES. To answer this question in this paper

I used couple scripture references and also answers that some of the

top philosophers have had. I believe in my heart that God Does Know

Everything About The Future. In this thesis I shared my own opinion,

and also my own thought to try to best answer this very hard

question. I also shared the opinions of Gregory A. Boyd one of the

authors of Divine Foreknowledge: Four Views , and finally I ended

this paper with couple of Bible Verses that let us know that God

really does Know the Future. So to answer the question again, Yes

God does know everything about the future. We are all children of

God.

	 I state that the events that took place on September 11,

2001 was a plan from God. I argue that God knows everything about

the future, because God is the one that created this world and He is

the one that made all of us that live in it. God knows everything we

are thinking and everything we do, because He is always one step

ahead of us. Which means that He is responsible for our actions. God

is the higher being of this world, and if there weren't a higher

being, then this world would have not occurred. Before things even

happened in the life of Jesus Christ, God knew what was going to

happen because he spoke to Jesus Christ. So going back to the point

that God is the Highest being, He would have to know what the future

would entail for Him. God knows that we are His work and that we

would be rewarded for everything we do that glorifies His name. God

knows about everything good and bad that happens to all of us. So

since God created us, He knows what is in our future and could give

us hints about it. God is the Head of our lives and also this world,

and He is the one that would give us future warnings about what His

plans are for His people. So I agree with Lane Craig and Paul Helm

when they state that God is Omniscient and knows about the future.

   Eden, the paradise created for the first human was so beautiful. The Creator

himself was happy with the company of His creation, the Adam and Eve. Everyday

afternoon He came down to Eden, walk with them, talk with them. Both Adam and

Eve enjoyed it. They were happy. The fruits were so sweet, they did not have to

labour for their sustenance. Years have passed. May be in thousands. They walked

only on the path shown by their Creator. The man went out daily looking for

variety of new fruits. Day in and day out, they enjoyed the sweet variety of

fruits. Sometimes Adam will have to walk little further to find something

different than what they had the previous day. Eve, was alone at their dwelling

place. She started thinking about the the tree, bearing good and beautiful

fruits very near to their dwelling, the fruit of which has been forbidden for

them even to touch in the TREE of LIFE. The thought of it, the attractive odour

and colour of it all fascinated her very much. She

  became so sad in not being able to taste this fruit, the FRUIT of LIFE. She has

been tempted to prick one of it and  wanted to taste it. But that tree was the

only tallest one, where its fruit bearing branches are so high, and hence she

could not get one. Adam, her companion, the mentor noticed her silence. He

thought that may be she is not happy with the fruits he used to bring every.

Next day he went further ahead of his usual route, and found something new, very

attractive and so tasty. He came back very late that day, and gave her that he

could fetch on that day, hoping she will be happy to have the new variety of

fruits. But he could not be able to see any change in her. Instead she gave him

a fruit. Its smell itself was so powerful to attract one's attention, and

temptation to ate it immediately. He started eating it, and the taste made him

so mad, never ever had such a tasty fruit. He asked his wife 'where did you get

this?' its so tasty. After lot of persuasion and

  force, hesitantly Eve told him that the fruit is from the forbidden one - the

TREE of LIFE. A lightning passed over Adam. He remembered about the ORDER of his

CREATOR, the forbiddenness of it. He tried to prevent from swallowing it by

holding tightly around his neck. He succeeded partially, but partly the fruit

found its destination. A loud cry from his frightened Eve. He ran away from

their dwelling. Eve also followed him. The peaceful life of Adam and Eve had

been disturbed. They wanted to move away from their dwelling place, before their

CREATOR come calling their name. But the fear, the agony over sinning by

disobeying the commandment. Finally they heard the thunderous sound of calling

their names as usual, but first time they felt it fearsome, and did not want to

face Him. HE came very near to them. They realized they are naked. The feeling

of shame occured first time in their life. They looked around them to cover

their nakedness. Whatever leaves they could catch,

  they wrap around, and kneeling with covered face with their palms, they sought

mercy. But All Knowing, THE CREATOR was not pardoned them, but allowed them to

leave the Eden, and live with their own labour. The agony in human history

started from that point onwards. It still continues. Still continues. But the

Creator has been given a huge price for none of HIS fault, to sacrifice HIS only

SON to save the human kind. The only salvation for the sinful humans as HIS

sacrifice in the Cross about 20 centuries ago.



   Will this remind us something else to our mind. The peaceful life of the

faithfuls in Malankara has been disturbed with one of our forefather. For about

two thousand years we lived in our faith peacefully. We prayed in unity, we

intercessed in all the Saints of Syrian Church, the Apostles. But, the

attractive taste of power tempted him to disobey his Spiritual Father. He was

not satisfied with all his temporal power, but wanted to become like the only

Head of the Church. The peace has been disintegrated, the love has been lost,

the craving for money has been increased. To prove or satisfy his craving still

the discendents in Malankara fight each other, accuse each other. A new theory

of faith has been forced upon the faithful, few adopted it, those who hesitated

to it has been stamped as heretics. The Holy Fathers of our Church has been

unnecessarily dragged into this unwarranted, manmade hell of activities. Even

The Holy Church is being stamped as imperialistic by lots

  among the discendant of that power hungry man of yester years. Even we dare of

question the sanctity of the actions of the Apostles. Those very actions which

we hail till yesterday has been pointed today as unacceptable. Who is

responsible for all these. One one man, he who has been destined to destroy the

sanctity of the Holy Church. As our LORD said: "It was good that if he has has

not been born". Who will redeem us from this curse. Where do we get solace? Who

will send us our salvation? When will we get back the peace, which has been lost

by the sinning of a man from among us?



   Let us all pray for mercy upon us, and getting back the peace. The

intercession of our Patron Saint of our Nation may help us to achieve it.

Priest moves court against Catholicos

KOTTAYAM: Widening the schism within the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, a

priest belonging to the Church, has moved a plaint against Catholicos Baselios

Marthoma Didymos I before the District Court, Ernakulam, seeking to convene the

Malankara Association and to remove the latter from the office of

Catholicos-cum-Malankara Metropolitan, he being a ‘usurper’ to these high

offices.



Notices has been issued by the court to Marthoma Didymos I and other defendants.



Fr P.C.Geevarghese, 64, who is serving in one of the parishes of the Orthodox

Church in the US and the general secretary of the Thumpamon-based Marthoma

Mathews Pradhaman Vaideeka Sabha Samrakshana Sangham, along with A.P.Kuriakose

of Kizhakkambalam and V.G.Kuriakose of Kanjiramattom, has filed the complaint,

adding to a slew of similar cases filed by the church members themselves on the

same issue in the courts of Kottayam and Ernakulam.



While the Catholicos is the first defendant in the case, episcopal synod

secretary Thomas Mar Athanasios and Church secretary Dr Alexander Karakkal are

the second and third defendants respectively. Four others, including two

diocesan bishops, are also defendants in the case.



According to the plaintiffs, the ‘self-styled’ Catholicos Baselios Marthoma

Didymos I has not been elected to the offices of either Malankara Metropolitan

or Catholicos by the present Malankara Association as per clause 114 and clause

97 respectively of the Malankara Church Constitution of 1934. The election to

the above offices has to be done by the Malankara Association on the date when

the vacancy arises.



The late Baselios Marthoma Mathews II, the immediate predecessor in office, was

the Catholicos-cum-Malankara Metropolitan duly elected by the Malankara

Association and approved by the Supreme Court. The plaint alleges that Marthoma

Mathews II was illegally removed from the throne of Catholicos and Malankara

Metropolitan on October 29, 2005, before his death. Marthoma Mathews II died on

January 26, 2006.



It is pointed out that the present Catholicos had assumed charge along with the

post of Malankara Metropolitan on October 29, 2005, itself. Thereafter, the

synod secretary and bishops Mathews Mar Sevarios and Philipose Mar Yousebios,

the second, sixth and seventh respondents in the case, colluded and with the

assistance of a few other members of the bishop’s synod installed him as

Catholicos, without going in for the mandatory sanction of the Malankara

Association.



The plaintiffs say that the Malankara Church has properties worth crores of

rupees and the majority are common trust properties, such as MOC Colleges under

the corporate management and old seminary, coming within the direct

administration of the Malankara Metropolitan.



The members of the Church are in the dark as to what happened to the assets and

money in the name of the deceased Catholicos and it is suspected that it is

totally mismanaged now, the plaintiffs feared.

Please convey my heartfelt condolences to the dearones of beloved corepiscopa,

especially Joy - his brother. Achen is my distant-cousin and I had the previlege

to meet him and enjoy his warm hospitality in 1999. He spent his whole life

self-lessly for the upliftment of the poor and the needy. He never aspired for

high positions nor he wanted publicity. He led a chaste life. He was downright

humble when it came to deal with others.



May his soul rest in peace. He will be remembered in my services.

Election process to the 12th Kerala Assembly has been completed and the Left

Democratic Front has made an impressive win with a tally of 98 against 42 of

UDF.  This was exactly an opposite result to that what happened in 2001 when UDF

won with 99 seats. In another way the history was repeating itself once again in

Kerala politics.



A major drift from the past is that this time the two major political fronts

were ready to field our Church members as candidates in areas where our people

live in large numbers. Atleast in 5 constituencies in Ernakulam district this

was the case.  Earlier only the Congress party followed this practice and that

too partially. But this time LDF too proceeded in the same direction and the end

result proved that this helped them to catch victory in some places where no one

else other than a Congress candidate has ever won.  The victory for LDF in these

places were inspite of the fact that a veteran Church member like P P

Thankachen, son of a late Corepiscopa, has been contesting under the banner of

UDF, that too in constituencies like Kunnathunad where more than 60 % of the

electorate are Jacobites (This is the only constituency other than Kothamangalam

where the Jacobites consists of more than half of its population. There are no

other constituencies in Kerala where a Christian sect other than the Catholics,

have absolute majority).



A major difference from the past is that this time the CPIM were ready to

provide seats to those who believe and openly declare that there is GOD. This is

indeed a major drift from its earlier stand and is certainly a welcome move.



The Jacobite Syrian Christians who won the latest assembly election are (they

were all LDF candidates)

Let 's hope that atleast some of these elected members will keep their promises

and take some initiative to reopen the churches in Kandand and Angamali dioceses

which has been closed due to problems created, by a minority with the help of

their 'God-fathers' from 'distant places'.  Many Jacobite members who supported

the Left front has extended support this time in hope that LDF will not dance to

the tune of 'money power' as that was happening in the time of the previous

government.



Above all the candidates have the responsibility to look after their respective

constituencies and bring benefits to the common man irrespective of caste and

creed. Those who move around with the people will certainly be looked after by

them. The victory of Saju Paul from Perumbavoor is a clear example. My best

wishes to all of them.

Just a quick note to say thankyou for all your loving prayers over

recent weeks.  We burried my father last Monday and due to all your

prayers he almost got what he wanted even though his widow tried to turn

it into a falasy! So thankyou LORD and thank you to those who have kept

us in your prayers...



I am well and almost back to normal even thought every now and then I

will have a little cry because I will remember something or a thought

will pop into my head you know that sort of thing.....



I am almost back at school but had a set back due to ill health but like

I said before I am on the mend and almost back to my usually happy self

along with the rest of my family....



Please could you all keep Jelena in your prayers as she is in serious

need of prayer,  so are her parents she is a new girl who has moved into

my home and has also been my rock over the past few weeks PTL who

provides for our needs.   She is a christian and has quite a few bad

habbits that need breaking aspecially the control of cigerrettes  and

profanity!!! Outside of all this she is a lovely girl just in need of

GODS intervention and his GUIDING HAND!!!! Her parents have come up to

sort out her recent mess and are so worried about their only child who

is so far from home and on a path of distruction that they seem to look

upon me as some kind of saving force they have been praying for.... I

just hope I am up for this GOD GIVEN task.....

Christian majority areas abandoned UDF

KOCHI: Though nothing equals the pro-LDF sentiments in the Muslim League

bastions which saw the fall of P K Kunhalikutty, K Muraleedharan, E T Mohammed

Basheer, M K Muneer and Cherkalam Abdullah the popular wave in favour of the LDF

has been reflected in the voting pattern in Christian majority areas also.



In the Assembly segments where the Church factor plays a decisive role which

have invariably been the traditional Congress/Kerala Congress strongholds, the

results show an unprecedented shift towards the LDF.



LDF candidate P Krishnaprasad got elected from Sulthan Bathery with the

largest-ever margin in the hill district of Wayanad.



In Angamaly, the Congress candidate and three-time MLA P J Joy suffered an upset

defeat.



LDF’s Alphonse Kannanthanam came out in flying colours from the rubber land of

Kanjirapally after a fierce three-cornered contest.



In Palluruthy, a Latin Catholic stronghold, CPM’s Dinesh Mani defeated Fisheries

Minister Dominic Presentation. Further south, in Tiruvalla, another unusual LDF

win through Mathew T Thomas completes the picture.



The LDF swept Wayanad, Thrissur, Ernakulam and Idukki districts where there is a

strong Christian presence.



It was 3-0 in Wayanad, 11-3 in Thrissur, 10-4 in Ernakulam and 4-1 in Idukki.



In the Christian-dominated eastern side of Ernakulam district, the popular

choice was the LDF. In Perumbavoor, Kunnathunad, Kothamangalam, Piravom and

Muvattupuzha constituencies, the Jacobite community expressed its ire against

the Oommen Chandy-led UDF and the result was a clean sweep for the LDF.



It is to be noted that in Irikkur in north Kerala, the settler Christian

stronghold of Congress, K C Joseph just managed to scrape through while in Pala,

K M Mani’s victory margin has been reduced.



If this does not point to the Christian communities’ new-found love for the LDF,

the voting trend at least confirms their growing disillusionment with the

Congress. This is despite the fact that the Congress put up two Christian chief

ministers in its five-year tenure.



The Jacobite Church’s open stand against the UDF Government, which they say, was

biased towards the rival Orthodox faction, the loyalty shift among the

tsunami-affected impoverished Latin Catholic community and the angst among the

debt-ridden farmers in Wayanad and Idukki; all scripted a UDF defeat as the

traditional support base withered away.



However, while the Muslim League’s seat share was reduced from 17 to a paltry 7,

the Kerala Congress splinter groups, which claim to represent Christian

communities, maintained more or less the same number of seats. Christian

resentment did not equal Muslim anger.

A CHRISTIAN ARAB, WHO GREW UP IN A MUSLIM COUNTRY



(Below are selected excerpts from Brigitte Gabriel's speech

delivered at the Intelligence Summit in Washington DC, Saturday

February 18, 2006).



We gather here today to share information and knowledge.

Intelligence is not merely cold hard data about numerical strength

or armament or disposition of military forces. The most important

element of intelligence has to be understanding the mindset and

intention of the enemy. The West has been wallowing in a state of

ignorance and denial for thirty years as Muslim extremist

perpetrated evil against innocent victims in the name of Allah.



I was ten years old when my home exploded around me, burying me

under the rubble and leaving me to drink my blood to survive, as the

perpetrators shouted "Allah Akbar!" My only crime was that I was a

Christian living in a Christian town. At 10 years old, I learned the

meaning of the word "infidel."



I had a crash course in survival. Not in the Girl Scouts, but in a

bomb shelter where I lived for seven years in pitch darkness,

freezing cold, drinking stale water and eating grass to live. At the

age of 13, I dressed in my burial clothes going to bed at night,

waiting to be slaughtered. By the age of 20, I had buried most of my

friends--killed by Muslims. We were not Americans living in New

York, or Britons in London We were Arab Christians living in Lebanon.



As a victim of Islamic terror, I was amazed when I saw Americans

waking up on September 12, 2001, and asking themselves "Why do they

hate us?" The psychoanalyst "experts" were coming up with all sort

of excuses as to what did we do to offend the Muslim World. But if

America and the West were paying attention to the Middle East they

would not have had to ask the question. Simply put, they hate us

because we are defined in their eyes by one simple word: "infidels."



Under the banner of Islam "la, ilaha illa allah, muhammad rasoulu

allah," (None is god except Allah; Muhammad is the Messenger of

Allah) they murdered Jewish children in Israel, massacred Christians

in Lebanon, killed Copts in Egypt, Assyrians in Syria, Hindus in

India, and expelled almost 900,000 Jews from Muslim lands. We Middle

Eastern infidels paid the price then. Now infidels worldwide are

paying the price for indifference and shortsightedness.



Tolerating evil is a crime. Appeasing murderers doesn't buy

protection. It earns one disrespect and loathing in the enemy's

eyes. Yet apathy is the weapon by which the West is committing

suicide. Political correctness forms the shackles around our ankles,

by which Islamists are leading us to our demise.



America and the West are doomed to failure in this war unless they

stand up and identify the real enemy: Islam.



You hear about Wahabbi and Salafi Islam as the only extreme form of

Islam. All the other Muslims, supposedly, are wonderful moderates.

Closer to the truth are the pictures of the irrational eruption of

violence in reaction to the cartoons of Mohammed printed by a Danish

newspaper. From burning embassies, to calls to butcher those who

mock Islam, to warnings that the West be prepared for another

holocaust, those pictures have given us a glimpse into the real face

of the enemy. News pictures and video of these events represent a

canvas of hate decorated by different nationalities who share one

common ideology of hate, bigotry and intolerance derived from one

source: authentic Islam. An Islam that is awakening from centuries

of slumber to re-ignite its wrath against the infidel and dominate

the world. An Islam which has declared "Intifada" on the West.



America and the West can no longer afford to lay in their lazy state

of overweight ignorance. The consequences of this mental disease are

starting to attack the body, and if they don't take the necessary

steps now to control it, death will be knocking soon. If you want to

understand the nature of the enemy we face, visualize a tapestry of

snakes. They slither and they hiss, and they would eat each other

alive, but they will unite in a hideous mass to achieve their common

goal of imposing Islam on the world.



This is the ugly face of the enemy we are fighting. We are fighting

a powerful ideology that is capable of altering basic human

instincts. An ideology that can turn a mother into a launching pad

of death. A perfect example is a recently elected Hamas official in

the Palestinian Territories who raves in heavenly joy about sending

her three sons to death and offering the ones who are still alive

for the cause. It is an ideology that is capable of offering highly

educated individuals such as doctors and lawyers far more joy in

attaining death than any respect and stature, life in society is

ever capable of giving them.



The United States has been a prime target for radical Islamic hatred

and terror. Every Friday, mosques in the Middle East ring with

shrill prayers and monotonous chants calling death, destruction and

damnation down on America and its people. The radical Islamists

deeds have been as vile as their words. Since the Iran hostage

crisis, more than three thousand Americans have died in a terror

campaign almost unprecedented in its calculated cruelty along with

thousands of other citizens worldwide. Even the Nazis did not turn

their own children into human bombs, and then rejoice at their

deaths as well the deaths of their victims. This intentional,

indiscriminate and wholesale murder of innocent American citizens is

justified and glorified in the name of Islam.



America cannot effectively defend itself in this war unless and

until the American people understand the nature of the enemy that we

face. Even after 9/11 there are those who say that we must engage

our terrorist enemies, that we must address their grievances. Their

grievance is our freedom of religion. Their grievance is our freedom

of speech. Their grievance is our democratic process where the rule

of law comes from the voices of many not that of just one prophet.

It is the respect we instill in our children towards all religions.

It is the equality we grant each other as human beings sharing a

planet and striving to make the world a better place for all

humanity Their grievance is the kindness and respect a man shows a

woman, the justice we practice as equals under the law, and the

mercy we grant our enemy. Their grievance cannot be answered by an

apology for who or what we are.



Our mediocre attitude of not confronting Islamic forces of bigotry

and hatred wherever they raised their ugly head in the last 30

years, has empowered and strengthened our enemy to launch a full

scale attack on the very freedoms we cherish in their effort to

impose their values and way of life on our civilization.



If we don't wake up and challenge our Muslim community to take

action against the terrorists within it, if we don't believe in

ourselves as Americans and in the standards we should hold every

patriotic American to, we are going to pay a price for our delusion.

For the sake of our children and our country, we must wake up and

take action. In the face of a torrent of hateful invective and

terrorist murder, America's learning curve since the Iran hostage

crisis is so shallow that it is almost flat. The longer we lay

supine, the more difficult it will be to stand erect.

    I fully  agree.  Because, H Bible has so many prophesies that are

fulfilled over a period of time and WILL fulfill in the future.



But  again, as a faithful, my duty is to stay with the church, obey

the church and pray to LORD  GOD and beg for forgivness.



But please look at some verses.



"The Lord was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his

heart was filled with pain" ( Genesis 6:6).



   - During the creation itself, Did  God know we will sin? If  He

knew why he  "was sorry for.."?





"When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil

ways, he had compassion and did not bring upon them the destruction

he had threatened" ( Jonah 3:10 )



-- did God know if people of  Nineve  will repent?  If  He did why

He did threaten ?



"And now you will be silent and not able to speak until the day this

happens, because you did not believe my words, which will come true

at their proper time."   (Luke  1:20)



  Angel, Gabriel  gives a punishment to Zechariah for distrusting

God's  message.



   - Did  Angel punish Zechariah at that instant by himself ?  Or did

God instructed this part too, knowing  Zechariah will not believe ?

All this verses are difficult to interpret.  Because our knowledge

is  very very small. So the language we use to express our  thoughts

are also  very limited. Because  God's  knowledge is expressed in

man's words, sometime these limitations  come up. It is just because

i  am not intelligent enough to understand it.



If  I express 'calculus' to  a  4th grade child, he may say i am out

of my mind.



It is not because what  I express in not true, it is because that

child is not  able to grasp what I say.  Same limitations apply in

God's  thoughts expressed in  mans words.



So rather than questioning and  trying for a logical explanation,

JUST  BELIEVE , that way we are not letting  Satan  open  a door to

our  mind.

Dear and Respected Brethren,



(Last week I was supposed to write on 2nd Sunday after the New Sunday. But

by mistake I wrote on the third Sunday after New Sunday. I earnestly solicit

the forgiveness from the readers. A few fresh thoughts on the day are

forwarded herewith. Jose Kurian Puliyeril.)



In verse 21 we read the testimony of the two disciples who traveled to

Emmaus. They say, “We trusted that he should have redeemed Israel.” We must

search ourselves in our minds to see what is our trust about Lord Jesus.

Self-centered individuals will definitely forget the truth that Lord Jesus

is our Redeemer and Savior. We could easily confess our faith in our Savior

and Redeemer, when we would pray the Trisagion. When we would recite ‘Holy

art thou o God, Holy art thou Almighty, Holy art thou immortal, we could say

in mind that Lord you are my Redeemer. Kindly have mercy upon me. We find a

similar type of question as the one asked by the disciples,  in Acts of the

Apostles 1:6, where they ask “Lord will thou at this time restore again the

kingdom to Israel.” From this question we can learn three things. 1) They

had staunch faith that Lord God initially installed the Kingdom of Israel.

2) Lord Jesus had the right to re-install the kingdom of Israel. 3) They had

thorough knowledge of the prophecies in Isaiah 1:26, Daniel 7:27 and Amos 9:

11.



In verse 27 we hear about our Lord’s explanations about the prophecies about

Him by Moses in Genesis 3:15, 22:18, 26:4, 49:10, Numbers 21:9 and

Deuteronomy 18: 15 and by many others in Psalms 16:9, Psalms 22, Psalms

132:11, Isaiah 7:14, 9:6, 40:10, 50:6, 53, Jeremiah 23:5, 33:14, Ezekiel

34:23, 37:25, Daniel 9:24, Micah 7:20, Malachi 3:1, and Malachi 4:2.



Let us meditate on verse 30. “And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with

them, he took bread, and blessed it, and broke and gave them.”  It was the

celebration of the Holy Eucharist. See the next sentence of today’s reading.

“And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their

sight”. St. Luke is telling us that as soon as the disciples accepted the

Holy Eucharist, their eyes were opened. And they realized who he was. Since

long we are partaking the Holy Eucharist. Were we able to identify our Lord

so far? Are we still able to ascertain Lord Jesus as our Savior? Why our

eyes are still closed or why we cannot see our Lord Jesus as the disciples

saw Him? We all know the answers. We are sure about it. But still the pride

of our minds does not allow us to look for the remedy. During the Holy

Eucharist, we listen to the exhortation of the celebrant “Now our minds and

thoughts must be on the right hand side of God the Father, where our Lord

Jesus is seated” (…ee Samayathu nammude Bhodhangalum vichaarangalum

Pithaavaam daivathinte valathu Bhagathu Missiha Thampuran irikkunna

Mahonnathangalil aayirikkanam”, we all utter the prescribed reply to it. And

ignore what we spoke immediately. If we continue the same sort of spiritual

exercise, our eyes would remain closed forever. We cannot dream of seeing

our Lord if we do not change the way in which we handle the spiritual

matters.



In verse 33 we read that those two disciples rushed back to Jerusalem and

they went to the Apostles. If we were in their place, how we would have

responded. It is needless to say that we would have convened a press

conference and the secret would have been disclosed as our own achievement.

There were some other faithful also with the eleven Apostles. They said,

“The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon”.  They were exchanging

the happy news with the less fortunate to witness the audience of the Lord.

As long as we celebrate Easter, it is our duty to convey the message of

Easter to the ones who seldom know it. We must tell such people that our

Lord is risen indeed.



In verse 47 we find our Lord authorizing the Apostles to convey the

exhortation for repentance and the message of the remission of sins among

all nations. God Almighty allowed our forefathers as well as us to remain as

a Church in India from the very first days of Christianity. Now let us make

sure ourselves, how much we were active in obeying our Lord’s instructions

and orders. Let our Church grant prime importance to obey our Lord and to

convey the news of remission of sins. May God bless us all and make use of

us for His wise plans and schemes.

The subject"Dissension- The beginning of the fall was crafted nicely but as the

auther claimed, the fruit that Adam and Eve ate was not from the Tree of life

but from the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. In fact if they were to eat

from the tree of life before ever trying fhe the fruit of the other tree,there

would never have been condemnation  to human. Also if they were to eat from the

tree of life after eating the fruit from the the tree of knowledge, there would

have never been any redemption from the condemnation and sin, which we enjoy now

through our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ.This was the reason,(that Adam and Eve

never try the fruit from the tree of Life and be thrown to eternal condemnation)

why God closed  the door to Aden and protected it by cherubians with flaming

sword.God bless
