Today’s Bible verse

"For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good
and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

Do you hope for a job, a better future?

Hope is that invisible force that makes all things possible. Hope in the
Creator for he can generate anything from nothing. We hope that we will get a
job. The hope is the positive energy that keep us motivated and enthused while
we wait. And if we don’t get the job, it’s hope once again that tell us we
might have a better shot next time. We should have the hope and love to meet any
challenging situations and think, “there is always hope, and this will be
solved.” Because hope is created in our own hearts and minds, we are in control
of it and can create more of it if we choose to. Archbishop Tutu said: “There
is no situation that is not transformable. There is no person who is hopeless.
There is no set of circumstances that cannot be turned about by ordinary human
beings and their natural capacity for love of the deepest sort.”

In their 60s, Thomas and Mary were a blessed God fearing couple who migrated to
Canada to stay with their son and family. Usually the life of retired people
in Canada is one of solitary confinement or something similar to a house
arrest. Their only hope is to look after the grandchildren and be in their
company. They do not have hopes of getting employed, especially in this time of
acute recession and financial crunch. The young, talented and educated lot stand
a better chance to get jobs. Mary, a retired teacher didn’t lose hope to have a
job in Canada. On landing here, she looked around for employment as a teacher.
She had knocked all the doors with vigorous hope in the Lord Jesus - ‘He will
give me the Job.’ and she got the job of her choice. Now she says, "God is
great and He definitely takes care of the people who trust and hope in Jesus."

Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are bold " (2 Corinthians 3:12). I
want you to think about the problems in your life and hope in Jesus that He
will take care of them. Then you have nothing to worry about.

Prayer : Jesus, let all negative soul-eating thoughts be vanished from the
minds of worried and negative people. Let the hopes of those who call upon you
be fulfilled. Those who are hoping to get a job, be blessed with it. For you,
everything is possible. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s Bible verse

"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this
is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (Thessalonians 5”16-18)

Do you want your presence to be a blessing for others which can make you more
happier?

In today's world, people climb up the ladder of life using wrong and devious
methods. This is a slippery path and can only end in disaster. So there is no
peace, love, joy, unity in life. We fail to notice what’s going right. It’s
often necessary to focus on what is wrong in order to make things better. The
negative carriers are always despicable and unwelcome in the company of good.
They won’t have any genuine friends. There is a golden rule in English grammar -
use positive words; avoid negative words. Instead of: only some 40 odd people
turned out for the opening of the Church, we could say, over 50 people
participated in the opening of the church. This minor change will do a profound
impact about you in front of others and in your life. Keep a card in your wallet
with the words, “Drop the negativity and focus on the blessings.” Then you will
be amazed at how rewarding this shift in thinking can be. You will become more
easily satisfied, loving, grateful, and appreciative. For this we should have a
bit of intent, practice, and repetition.

Abraham is a retired, happy rich man in my church in India. For the past 24
years, he has been the most welcomed and cherished member, both in the Church
and my residence. Now in his 70’s, he still drives his old scooter even though
he has all the richness to buy a BMW car. He always comes with a smiling face
that itself changes all my bad moods and makes me happy. One can only hear him
talk positive things in life and he is generous with his blessings for others,
which makes you feel really blessed. He used to say, ”Acha (Priest), I’m fully
satisfied in my life. God has blessed me immensely. I have no complaints about
anything.” But I know that when looked at negatively, he too has many complaints
and problems in his life. May God bless this kind of people.

King Davis says, “Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, his
love endures forever” (Psalm 106:1). In the words of Eric Hoffer, ”The hardest
arithmetic to master is that which enables us to count our blessings." Say a
big no to negativity of any kind. Then, see the change in your life, in your
home, and in your job.

Prayer : Jesus, we pray for those who are living with negative attitudes and its
products of poverty and sorrows. Let all satanic and negative habits be uprooted
and instead plant minds to count and appreciate their blessings. All we ask in
the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s Bible verse

"Open your mouth for the speechless, in the cause of all are appointed to die."
(Proverbs 31:8)

Have you ever felt that someone should stand up and talk for you?

Voice for the voiceless and defence for the defenceless is a far away cry. There
are plenty of people for the rich, mighty, beautiful, healthy and influential.
But the poor and oppressed people have nobody. If nobody is there to hear the
cry of the voiceless, do not worry - Christ is waiting there to hear you, save
you, fight for you and bring you justice. When the priest and the scribes
threw the blind man (who was healed by Jesus) out of the church, Jesus was
there to help him. “When Jesus heard what had happened, he found the man and
asked, “Do you believe in the son of man” ( John 9 :35). “Yes Lord, I believe!
the man said. And he worshipped Jesus”(John 9:38). That is real devotion.
"Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for
orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you”
(James 1”27). Let us plead for the cause of the oppressed.

On the 4th of this month, the Punjab Governor, Salman Tasseer in Pakistan was
gunned down by his bodyguard. The bodyguard was enraged at the Governor for his
stance on a voiceless young mother of five, Aasia Bibi waiting for death
sentence in Jail. Aasia Bibi is a Christian convert facing execution because of
the country’s law of blasphemy. "He stood up for those who don’t even have a
voice. He went all the way to see her in jail. No one else did that", said a
relative of Aasia Bibi. On December 31, 4 days before his death, Tasser held
his ground, offering these prophetic words on Twitter, “I was under huge
pressure sure 2 cow down b 4 rightist pressure on Blasphemy. Refused. Even if
I’m this last man standing.” A Muslim ruler at the risk of his life stands for
a defenceless Woman! Unbelievable! The species of the good are not extinct! May
God rest his soul in peace.

Prayer : Jesus, we pray for Aasia Bibi from her execution. We pray for all
those who are defenceless in homes, in jobs, and in their day to day life. We
pray for the people who stand for justice. All we ask in the name of Jesus.
Amen.

Today’s Bible verse

"Those unwilling to work will not get to eat.” (2 Thessalonians 3:10)

Do you eat from the fruit of your sweat?

Man on earth has to work for his food. "By the sweat of your brow will you have
food to eat” (Genesis 3:19). Physical labour is the dignified job for each
person on earth. Most of the sickness of the modern days are associated with
lack of physical exercise. At least 45 minutes of physical labour is a must for
keeping the human body in good form and health. Arm chair jobs are not destined
by God. Laziness can never be tolerated by the Creator. Jesus was called a
carpenter - he really was one. St Paul did his missionary work by working as a
tent maker. “Paul lived and worked with them, for they were tent makers just us
he was" (Acts 18:3). “We never accepted food from anyone without paying for it.
We worked hard day and night so we would not be a burden to any of you” (2
Thessalonians 3:8). It is better and Godly to have at least a kitchen garden
for each family and do half an hour labour, and associate with nature. Poverty
of any kind is the end result of no work. “He who works his land will have
abundant food” (Proverbs 28:19). Be proud and don't shy away from physical
labour....Respect the physical labourers.

John Boehner, the speaker holding the third highest position in the US
government, used to clear floors, wash windows and sort the bottles when he was
10 to 11 years old. He is one of 12 children from a religious family. He grew
up in a five bed room - one bathroom home. He worked odd jobs, including as a
bartender, roofer and a janitor before attending Xavier college in Ohio.
According to him, his parents instilled in him the beauty of hard work and
frugality. His brother says, "If we needed a dollar for gas, our Dad didn’t
give to us. We had to work and earn for it.” Boehner is proud of his family and
the work culture he has inherited.

Make a pledge that I will eat only from the sweat of my work and won’t be a
parasite. I will steer clear of laziness in any area of life and will always
respect the labourer.

Prayer : Jesus, let us go back to the basics of life - to work and eat. Give
jobs for those who are willing and searching for it. Please remove any
laziness within us. Let the disabled and challenged be fed by sharing the fruit
of the able-bodied. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s Bible verse

"Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of
being called your son.” (Luke :15:21)

Have you at any time cried with remorse and repentance?

Even the hardest minds will soften when hearing these meaningful words in the
English language – thank you, excuse me, sorry, and I love you. Rare use of
these words have made humans more inhuman. In each person, there is a moral
compass of individual conscience created by God to discern what is pure and what
is impure. Each time we ignore the voice of the inner man (conscience), we lose
the sensitivity and power to hear the voice of God. Our heart will become
hardened like Pharaoh in the Bible, making us fit for God’s wrath. We should not
postpone saying sorry to people whom we have hurt in any way. We lose nothing
when we apologise but only stand to gain goodwill and happiness. The Bible
records a colourful variety of examples, including the episode of king David. He
sent a soldier to his death so that he could marry his widow Bathsheba.
Subsequently, he displayed remorse and repented for his act. He publically
acknowledged his wrong doing. In today's times, it is rare to see people
accepting and apologizing for their mistakes. This is a dangerous situation of
self-destruction. Confession tables are empty waiting for patrons. You find
arrogance everywhere - homes, work places, worship centers etc. - everybody
thinks they are infallible and want to live life on their own terms.

A classic example to emulate is the British Prime Minister, David Cameron who
made an apology to the families of victims of Bloody Sunday. In 1972, thirteen
Catholic demonstrators in Northern Ireland were killed when British soldiers
opened fire on a group of protestors. In June, after a 12 year investigation, it
was confirmed indisputably that the protestors were unarmed. So the Prime
Minister offered a public apology on behalf of the country as a whole in the
British House of Commons. He said, “You don’t defend the British army by
defending the indefensible.” Cameron went on to say, “What happened on bloody
Sunday was both unjustified and unjustifiable.”

Don’t forget and be ashamed to say sorry for your mistakes. This will enhance
your spirit and vitality. Let us examine ourselves on a daily basis and make
sure that we owe no apologies to anyone. Let us be prompt in apologizing for
our mistakes.

Prayer : Jesus, let us have the minds of penitence for our sins. Please reveal
to us those who are still in their pains and grudge due to our wrongdoings and
sins. Let us have the courage to ask for their forgiveness. All we ask in the
name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s Bible verse

"At this time a message from God came to John, son of
Zechariah, who was living in the wilderness.” (Luke 3:2)

Have you ever enjoyed a life
away from your man-made world ?

We often judge people by their superficial standards of power,
wealth and beauty, and miss
the truly great people through whom God works! Greatness is measured not by
what you have but by faith in
God. We cannot dream and imagine the length and breadth of his creation.
Simply look at the sky on a full moon night...this will make us realize how
small our inventions, construction
and scientific advancements are. All
of our artificial world stand at the mercy of God. An unprecedented snow
in Europe made the continent stand still helplessly last month. The vast galaxy
that we live in is
spinning at an incredible speed of 490,000 miles an hour. But even at this
breakneck speed, our
galaxy still needs 200 million years to make one rotation. And there are over
one billion other galaxies just like ours in the universe. We have to learn to
live closer to nature instead of
going away from it. When we allow our children to play with mud and ice,
stay in tents and camps, swim in seas and rivers, and trek in hills and
valleys, we are taking them closer to the lap of God. John lived in the
wilderness eating honey and locusts.

Once a wealthy father took his son to stay with a poor
family on a village farm. On their
return, the father asked his son as to how his trip was. “It was great, Dad. I
saw that we have
one dog and they have 4. We have a pool but they have a creek that
has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have stars at
night. Our patio reaches to the
front yard and they have the whole horizon. We have a small piece of land and
they have fields that go
beyond our sight. We have servants
who serve us but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We
have walls around our property to
protect us, they have friends to protect them.” The father was speechless. Then
his son added, “Thanks Dad
for showing me how poor we are.”

We should not be proud of our material wealth. That will come and
go. We have to praise God for his providence and wonderful creation. Wealth is
for all. We have no right to fix fees and prices for natural resources
like air and water, and stop the poor from enjoying them.

Prayer : Jesus, let our
generation come out from their closets and see your creation and its greatness
and beauty. We hope your divine intervention will stop commercialization of
natural resources. Let all of us have
equal access to the bounty of your creation. All we ask in the name of Jesus.
Amen.

Today’s Bible verse

"I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry.” (Psalm
40:1)

Are you frustrated and on the verge of retreating from waiting?

God is always on time to help you. Waiting for something or for someone
indefinitely is very frustrating, boring and most often, we give up halfway
and stop waiting. God’s time is not our time and our time is not God’s time.
For him, 1000 years is a day. In our fast-paced, highly technologically driven
world, the hardest thing to do is to “be still before the Lord and wait
patiently for Him” (Psalm 37:7). "In this instant happening society', we can
expect nothing more. We even have a hard time waiting for the microwavable
popcorn to finish popping! God seems to hide Himself from us when the light in
our souls turn to darkness, leaving us in distress. The pain of that loneliness
can last days, weeks, even months, but God always returns on his terms and
time. Christians throughout history have waited patiently for the Lord and have
been rewarded. David received four benefits from waiting: the Lord lifted him
out of despair, set his foot on solid ground, steadied him as he walked, and put
a new song of praise in his mouth.

Robert Glover was a devout follower of Christ In England. In 1555, he was
arrested for denying the state-approved doctrine, tried for heresy, and was
sentenced to burn at the stake. During this time, he experienced God’s dreadful
withdrawal, and fell into despair fearing that God had abandoned his soul. But
Robert spent his time in prayer. One of Robert’s friends, Austin, visited him
in prison and encouraged him to stay patient and wait for God, saying that God
would come back before the end. On the day of his execution when the
executioners led him to the stake, he suddenly felt God’s presence so profoundly
and he started clapping his hands in joy and crying out, “Oh, Austin, He has
come! He has come!”

Be patient and trust Him. God’s love for his children is eternal. We can
personally go and encourage the dejected who are frustrated with their long
wait for a solution to their problems. Be with them till they come out of their
sorrows.

Prayer : Jesus, don’t wait , please come and help us in our long, unending
frustrated wait for you. We are really tired, please strengthen us. Let your
spirit encompass us under His wings. Break your silence and answer the prayers
of your children in desperation. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s Bible verse

"But with eager hope, the creation looks forward to the day when it will join
God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay.”(Romans 8:21)

could you see any console in the midst of carnage and death in a family?

On Saturday 8 January 2011 a congress woman USA shot in head, in a shooting
spree carnage by a 22 year old man that left 6 people dead more than a dozen
wounded including a 9 year old girl- Christina Taylor Green born on 9/11(faces
of hope). We are living in a violent, intolerant, murderous and uncertain
world. All medias and life situations are filled with scenes of murder and
mayhem. .All are exposed and habitualized for the inclination of hate and
violence.. How could we be cope up with this types of life situation?
Christians see the world as it is- physically decaying and spiritually infected
with sin. But they do not need to be pessimistic, because they have hope for
future glory they look forward to the new heaven and new earth that God has
promised, and they wait for God’s new order that will free the world from sin,
sickness and evil. We are guaranteed of our resurrection. As Christians we
should wean away our children from the exposure of hate words, violent scenes,
and heinous crimes. In our homes and job areas we should eschew all types of
evil words and actions. Our faith homes should be silenced all types of blames
and hates. Arms and ammunition should be only for the law enforcement and the
soldiers. Moral lessons should be a compulsory subject in all grades , colleges
and universities.

West , sent this e-mail to his friend.

“When I picked up Abby today from her first day of school. I noticed along the
wall out side her class the work the children had done: smiley faces on paper
plates stapled to Pop sickle sticks. Oddly, Abby’s was frown. At the same time
across town Suzanne was finding out that the child in her womb had gone to be
with lord. It is sad day for us, I’m sure these tears will soak our pillows
tonight. We know it should not be this way. Every ounce of our being knows. Our
hearts are so profoundly enlightened in times of pain. We realize we were not
created for grief, but joy; not death, but life! thanks be to God, though, that
we do not grieve as those without hope. “The Lord gives and the Lord takes
away. Blesses be the name of the Lord,” (Job 1:21) The friend of West wiped the
tears from his eyes and responded, “Dearest West, I love you. I am crying with
you. I don’t know what to say. “I long to be where the praise is never ending;
yearn to dwell where the glory never fades.” One day, my friend, one day….”

“You must not murder”( Exodus 20:13)

Prayer

Jesus, console the families of the victims of Arizona carnage and all others
those who are in tears.. Let the conscience of the world awaken against the
murder, hate, and mayhem. The culprits should be punished in the court of thy
justice. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen

Today’s Bible verse

“We gladly suffer, because we know that suffering helps us to endure. And
endurance builds character, which give us hope that will never disappoint us .”
(Romans 5:3-5)

Do you know the worth of your family and friends in times of crisis?

Life is a lesson to learn, and to live. Suffering never leaves us without
giving a beneficial life lesson. Jesus is the fortress in any troubles. The
family and friends are the best guaranteed valuable investment to overcome
any crisis, but do not take their support for granted. We should work to keep
up the warmness of love in the family and in our friends' circles. No one is
an island in herself/himself. We always need the support of others in one way
or the other in our lives. We rejoice in suffering, not because we like pain or
deny its tragedy, but because we know God is using life’s difficulties to build
our character. You will get a new perspective, new approach, and a new attitude
towards life.

Michael Douglas, the movie veteran has come around after his 6 month fight with
stage 4 throat cancer. He says, “The tumour is gone.” He continues, ”My health
crisis has given me a new respect for my wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, my kids and
my friends.” He explains, "All of a sudden the affection from my family, from
my friends, and from my fans hit me at a much deeper level than I would have
ever imagined before, and it gave me a really new appreciation of just how
valuable, how precious my family and good friends are."

“As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend” (Proverbs 27:17). Be
sure that in all your planning, organizing and working, you don’t forget the
people who have helped/are helping you the most.

Prayer : Jesus, we pray for all our family members, friends and medical
supporters who help us in our sickness and sufferings. Let us understand the
value of family, Church, and friends. We pray for all those who are suffering
from cancer and other terminal illness. We pray for their healing in the name
of Jesus Christ. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s Bible verse

“You have sinned against the Lord, and be sure your sin will find you out.”
(Numbers 32:23)

Do you believe that your sins can be hidden forever ?

Sin and its judgement are real. No human being can dodge and escape from it.
We reap what we sow, and sins can’t be undone, only forgiven. “I will arise and
go to my Father, I have sinned against heaven, and against you, and am no
longer worthy to be called your child.” “My child, your sins are forgiven.”
Always remember that your sins will come to light one day or the other. Your
face, your body, your children, your conscience will speak who you are and what
you are. Finally, you have to stand for judgement in the court of Justice. So
before you think, say , and act anything, double check that it is in
accordance with the eternal love and word of God. Even at the risk of your
life, resist the temptation of sins. If we do sin, be ready to face the
consequences of it.

Bernhard Frank, a 99 year old Nazi Elite SS, who had signed the “Start Order”
that commenced the genocide of Europe’s Jewish population, has been under cover
over six decades. After years of research and undercover work by Mark Gould, a
Jewish relative of one of the victims of Genocide, confronted The SS Colonel
Frank last Thursday. At a video-taped meeting in Frankfurt, he listed his
alleged crime against humanity and presented a copy of the law suit newly filed
in a US Federal Court in the District of Columbia. It is the first time that a
heir of those murdered by Nazi atrocities have brought civil suit against one of
the perpetrators of the Holocaust.

The way of the sinner is hard. The soul that sinned shall die., “Do not be
deceived, God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap”

Today's Bible verse

"Has Christ divided us into
factions? (1 Corinthians 1:13)

Do you believe that Christ is on our side ?

The people are confused and confounded with denominational interpretations of
the Bible. And most of the people are vexed with the quarrels and divisions in
Christianity. But Christ is God who stands unique and above all these divisions.
His love and salvation can never be divided or limited. God wants unity in
Christ as one body. Like air and music which are united and enjoyable but not
tangible and not limited by space and time, God's love is united and enjoyable,
but not tangible. Jesus is above all factions and denominations. Christ is not
divided, and his true followers should not allow anything to divide them. Our
allegiance must be to Christ and to the unity that He desires.

Jesus was taken to a cricket match by two of his friends. It was an interesting
match between the Born Again and the Orthodox. The Born Again hit 6 first. Jesus
cheered wildly and threw his hat high up in the air. Then the Orthodox hit the
boundary. And Jesus cheered wildly and threw his hat high up in the air again.
This seemed to puzzle the man behind them. He tapped Jesus on the shoulder and
asked, "Which
side are you rooting for, my good man?" "Me?" replied Jesus, all excited, "I'm
not rooting for either side. I'm just enjoying the game." The questioner turned
to his neighbour and sneered, "Hmm, an atheist!"

Jesus is on the side of His people, and does not believe in denominations. "The
Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. So, the Son of Man is
Lord even of the Sabbath" (Mark 2:27,28).

Prayer:

Jesus, we pray for the end of all divisions and quarrels in the Christian world.
We pray for the unity in our homes and Churches.
We want you to be a reality of unity in our lives. Let all our confusion vanish
and peace and unity abide within us. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s Bible verse

“We are here for only a moment, visitors and strangers in the land as our
ancestors were before us.” (1 Chronicles 29:15)

Are you a stakeholder on this earth?

We are just travellers on this earth. There is nothing permanent here. This may
be an awareness forced on us by circumstances. It may come late in life or as a
result of difficult times. We cannot live forever and the world is not our home.
It is best for us not to be so attached to this world’s desires and possessions
that we cannot move out at God’s command. We have neither the right nor the
property to hold on to in this world. As the shadow of a bird flying in the
air of heaven, such are our days up on earth; nor is there any hope to any son
of man that he shall live forever” - Targum. "I’m a stranger on earth; don’t
hide your command” (Psalm 119:19). Only in a relationship with God can we find
anything permanent. His love never fades, and nothing can take it away. Shed
all soul eating stones of weighty possessions on your back and be free to swim
to reach your destination - Heaven, your permanent residence.

In the last century, a tourist from the States visited the famous Polish rabbi,
Hofetz Chaim. He was astonished to see that the rabbi’s home was a simple room
filled with books. The only furniture was a table and a bench. “Rabbi, where is
the furniture?” asked the tourist. "Where is yours?” asked Hofetz. “Mine? But
I’m passing through. I’m only a visitor here.” “So am I,” said Hofetz

“They agreed that they were foreigners and nomads here on earth (Hebrews 11:13).

Give to the needy if you have excess of anything that is withholding your peace
and eternity.

Prayer : Jesus, allow as to be free from all worldly possessions. Give us the
mind to concentrate on You and Your kingdom of eternity. As a traveller, let
us do our duty and responsibility that you have entrusted - to love You and love
our fellow beings. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s Bible verse

“ There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”(John
:13)

Love is always painful. Love always demands sacrifice. Sweetness is the end
result of all kinds of love. A world, a home. an office, and an individual
without love could become a death chamber. Nothing can be compensated for the
absence of love. Love + any number becomes an astronomical figure but an
astronomical number – love becomes a big 0. A world of no love where we are
being lived is heading towards its own end. The high speed of this suicidal
movement of the earth could be braked, and paused only by the acts of love .
That is not yet completely drained from the universe. That is our hope and
solace. Where we are is the question? Is it in the side of the selfish love or
in the side of sacrificial love.

The shooting in Tucson in Arizona USA on Saturday 8 January 2011 took a heavy
toll of 6 killed including 9 year old Christina Taylor Green ,and 14 wounded,
including the Congress woman Gabrielle Gifford. Mary Stoddard 75, who was shot
in the leg 3 times, her husband Dorwan 76 done to the ground and covered her
when shooting started. She talked to him for 10 minutes. Mean while a bullet
passed through his head. Then his breathing stopped. The two grade school sweet
hearts had lost contact and then faced each other after both retired in Tucson,
falling in love.

For love nothing to loose even if you end your life.

Prayer

Jesus, let us learn the first lesson of love from your mouth. Let people
understand and live In love. we pray for all lovers and loved ones . We
remember the pain and sacrifice behind all types of love. Let the children love
the parents and parents love the children. All we ask in the name of Jesus.
Amen.

Today’s Bible verse

“I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh.”(Joel 2:28)

Is it a fantasy to have a conscious contact with God?

God is spirit. It ‘s attainable and for each individual. It’s the free gift of
God. It’s for, “ To all who are thirsty I will give freely from the springs of
water of life.”(Revelation 21:6). Each of us should have first hand knowledge
of God. That is the promise of God. ”In the last days,’ God says, ‘ I will pour
out my spirit upon all people.” (Acts 2:17) So all human beings have to,” Taste
and see that the Lord is good.”(Psalm 34 :8). Each person must have personal
relationship with God. It is not enough to hear wonderful stories about
Christians in our family. We need to become part of the story ourselves. This
knowing is what we call faith, and it cannot be substantiated or verified by
external sources. “The wind blows wherever it wants. Just as you can hear the
wind but can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t
explain how people are born of the spirit.”(John 3:8) And when you are
experienced God in person, you will become a new person. Then you will have
accessed a spiritual solution to any problem that may present itself.

A disciple once came to a teacher to learn how to meditate on God. The teacher
gave him instructions, but he soon returned and said he couldn’t carry them out.
Every time he tried to meditate he found himself thinking about his pet
buffalo. “Well, then,” said the teacher, “You meditate on that buffalo you ‘re
so fond of.” The disciple did it. After some days, the room of the disciple
where the concentrated conscious meditation going on, the teacher knocked at
his door and disciple answered: “Sir, I’m sorry I can’t come out to greet you.
The door is too small. My horns will be in the way.” Then the teacher smiled and
said: “ Splendid! You have become identified with the object of your
concentration . Now fix that concentration upon God and you will easily
succeed.”

The message is so clear. Become one with spirit, meditate on Jesus, then he
will become a reality in each of us. To make a decision to have direct
experience with Jesus, independent of the opinions of external forces that have
been so powerful on our life. “Now we believe, not just because of what you told
us, but because we have heard him ourselves. Now we know that he is indeed the
savoir of the world.” (John 4:42)..

Prayer

Jesus, Let us free from all confusing voices from all sides of our life. We need
a personal encounter with you that you have promised to all human beings. As
you did to the woman of Samaria and all the people there.” All those who are
longing for your personal encounter be with them. All we ask in the name of
Jesus. amen

Today’s Bible verse

“Is it permitted in the law to heal people on the Sabbath day or not?” (Luke
14:3)

What is important, the rule or the people?

A world without human beings is not a world at all. People make the world
and the world is for the people. If the ultimate goal of all works is not for
the people,, then they would become worthless. Rules and regulations are made
for the people and for their welfare, and that should not ultimately lead them
to bind, suffocate or kill.

Nancy and Mark got the tragic news that their 3 year old grandson in Denver had
been murdered by their daughter’s live-in boy friend. He was going to be taken
off life support and their parents had opted for organ donation. Over 25 people
will receive his gift and many lives will be saved. Nancy's husband was in Los
Angeles and was taking the flight to Denver before the life support was taken
off. Due to long security lines, by the time he had finished his security check
up at Tucson and rushed to the gate, it was several minutes after their flight's
scheduled departure time. The pilot and the ticketing agent were waiting for
him at the gate. “We held the plane for you and we’re so sorry about the loss of
your grandson.” The pilot reportedly said,. “They can’t go anywhere without me
and I wasn’t not going anywhere without you. Relax. We’ll take you there. And
again, I’m so sorry.” It’s hard to overestimate the courage of the pilot’s
decision expecting the wrath of the airlines management for refusal to follow
the 'on time' departure. Instead the Management told that they were “proud’ of
their pilot, a man who clearly understands that taking a child off life support
has consequences that run deeper than a flight taking off late.

We are in need of this kind of species of people for the sustainment of this
unique universe. Each of us have to play our roles right to give importance to
the needs of the people than rules and regulations, even at the risk of our jobs
and lives. This is a top priority in all religions.

Prayer : Jesus, save the people from the insensitivity of the modern high-tech
world. We pray for those who risk themselves to save the life of others in
danger, and wipe the tears of others. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s Bible verse

“Shout with the voice of a trumpet blast. Shout aloud! Don’t be timid. Tell my
people Israel, of their sins! (Isaiah 58:1)

Are you silenced by seeing the horrors and the victory of the wicked?

Being silent when we should have opened our mouths is a grave sin. The world is
full of injustice, oppression and murder. This is the time we have to
collectively stand up and raise our voices. A collective and committed
resistance for justice to the poor, oppressed and the weak will bear good
results. The tormenters and culprits should be brought to justice and be
punished, and it should be detrimental to the predators. It will boost to do
good for the good.

In 1999, Jessica Lal , a model was shot dead when she had refused to serve an
obnoxious customer in a bar in Delhi. Several party goers saw the murder and
dozens watched as the killer fled. However, the accused, a son of a powerful
politician of nearby Haryana State, was let off. The powerful family bribed and
threatened the witnesses and paid off the police and evidence was lost. The
court was responsible of letting a guilty man go free. After the acquittal, the
fourth estate, the journalists got those who had been on the stand to admit the
truth. They also helped to organize a candlelight protest at India Gate, the
heart of New Delhi, where local citizens, Dilliwallahs, demanded “Justice for
Jessica” and reform India’s legal system. Shamed by the attention, the courts
at last in 2006 convicted Manu Sharma, the accused, and sentenced him to life in
prison.

Always stand for justice. Fight a good fight for truth. Don’t withdraw from your
cause due to any hostile situations.

“Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell" (Mathew 10 :28).

Prayer : Jesus, strengthen those who are standing for justice and let justice
prevail at all times. Let the cry of innocents reach the gate of Heaven and
may they be freed from their tormentors. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s Bible verse

“ Why then do you harden your hearts as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their
hearts?”( 1 Samuel 6:6)

Do you feel an aversion and an insensitivity to the pains and sufferings of
others?

The end of the Natural creation takes place when human beings become
insensitive to the feelings, needs, and sufferings of the living beings. We are
in the hi- end livings of artificial creation, that is Hi- tech and hi- breed.
A world of unnatural! The design and the rules of divine creation are making
upside down by the actions and inactions of the present world. So we are
becoming the victims of the fury and retaliation of the nature through a
plethora of natural calamities, pestilence. and unnatural behaviours of human
beings, animals, and birds. “You should know that, Timothy, that last days
there will be very difficult times. For people will love only themselves and
their money. ….They will be cruel and hate what is good.”(2 Timothy 3: 1-3) A
born again life is the only solution for to escape from this dangerous situation
of self destruction. Go back to the nature and go back to the spirit of God.
Eschew of all types of artificiality.

An elderly woman in Toronto Canada who died in the freezing cold on Monday 17
January 2011 called out for help in vain. Some residents heard or even saw the
66- year old woman in distress bur didn’t help. People have heard her calls for
help and didn’t call police- 911. Some people thought of she was a homeless
woman so she hadn’t’ deserve any attention so they didn’t give any attention.
She was found laying on the ground behind a car without a jacket, her jacket and
glasses were found nearby.

Pains and sufferings of all are equal, irrespective of color, creed, age,
finance, and the faith. Be in action where ever there are cry for help. Be
sensitive in all situations as Jesus have.

Prayer

Jesus, we pray for a sensitive heart to all. Let the cry of the poor and sick
be reached in thy ears and be answered. We read your promise, “ I will give you
a new heart and put a new spirit with in you, and I will remove the heart of
stone from your flesh and give you a tender, responsive heart .”( Ezekiel

"Jesus wept." (John 11:35)

Does the society make you suppress your feelings and emotions?

God created human beings with wonderful feelings and emotions. Feelings need to
be expressed freely and we need emotions to interact with others. Repression
means that a person is holding back hurtful thoughts and feelings. It gets
embedded in the subconscious mind and later it will burst into uncontrollable
consequences. So sharing one's feelings and emotions can help you to release
your suppressed hurtful feelings and hidden sorrows. The Lord wants you to be
a total person using the full range of God-given feelings. The confession table
is the arena to throw up all inner feelings, hurts, and emotions.
Unfortunately, those tables are now-a-days empty. Family and friends who are
ready to share and listen to each other's hurts and feelings are the best dais
and medicine for reliving the hurt feelings and emotions. Jesus, in his life
on earth expressed his joy, sorrows, and anger as a normal human being. Then
why does his crown of creation not follow the same?

Aaron Kaplan, a survivor of holocaust had an in-depth interview with Yad
Vashem, a journalist, after more than 60 years of the Second World War. He
says, "I just wanted to thank you deeply for an interview you conducted with me
here, at home, about my memories of the Holocaust. This interview allowed me to
unburden myself of the heavy load I carried for over 60 years. In this
interview, you have opened up additional, deep layer of complex, charged
emotions."

Each one of us should be a patient listener to the feelings and emotions of
others. Don't suppress your emotions. We should have a best trustful buddy
always within our reach and this can be a friend, partner, sibling, son,
daughter, or a priest . It is very pathetic for a person to leave this earth
keeping all his feelings and emotions to himself.

Prayer : Jesus, let us have somebody to hear our sorrows, emotions and
feelings. We pray for those who have no one to share their problems and feeling
with. Let them have somebody now. Please be near to hear them. Let us be a
facilitator to those who are in need. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s Bible verse

“You must be born again.” (John 3:7)

Do you want a born-again experience?

To regain the lost first love, beauty, and glory of human beings, we must be
born again. Born again means the complete change of earthly character into
spiritual character. This can take place only by the power of God – the
spirit. It is a spiritual regeneration and a

180 degree turn around. This can be only experienced but cannot not be
explained. There is no human effort involved in the spiritual rebirth of human
beings. “The wind blows wherever it wants. Just as you can hear the wind but
can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t explain how
people are born of the spirit” (John 3:8). It is a gift from God through the
Holy Spirit. Those who are in genuine search of truth with contemplation of God
in accordance with their conscience can experience this spiritual birth.

Jiji, a young, energetic lovely girl was so hot tempered, contemptuous and
proud. Her marriage with a handsome and well to do boy brought no happiness
in the family. Children and poor health made their lives even worse. Then,
one fine morning, the family was drawn to the Bible and Jesus. They started
to fast and pray. This had a profound impact on the entire family. They now
felt an aversion to their old traits of anger and, jealousy. Instead, they
now have a special fondness to church, Jesus, love, peace and evangelization.
Now those who had known this family before this transformation could not
believe the change that had taken place. But they all accepted the reality and
enjoy the born again life of a family.

We are all judged according to our deeds. All good deeds come from the Spirit
of God. So we should be connected to the spiritual universe.

Prayer : Jesus Let us have a reborn experience in spirit. Let your spirit
always abide within us. Please give us a new heart and a new mind. Let us
be a new person in You. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s Bible verse

“What is truth?” (John 18:38)

Are you afraid of the truth?

Truth is God. It is absolute and certain. As defined in Webster's dictionary -
“It is conformity to facts or reality, exact accordance with that which is, or
has been, or shall be.” Truth is the weapon to fight against darkness and its
author - Satan. M.K Gandhi had adopted truth and non-violence as weapons to
fight against the British occupation of India at the risk of his life and
ultimately he won it. The Bible says, "Truth shall set you free" and Jesus
says, "I am the way, the truth, and the life.” Bible is the standard of truth.
Anything not in accordance with the scripture is contemptuous , unacceptable
and avoidable. Truth always follows persecution and blood. There is no
freedom without spilling blood - that is the dictum of eternity. Jesus did it
for the emancipation of human beings from the clutches of sin and death. It is
ungodly to compromise the truth for personal safety and security.

Liu- Xiaobo, Nobel prize winner for peace in 2010 is in Chinese jail for
standing for truth, freedom, and democracy. So the chair was left empty in the
ceremony of awarding the Nobel prize.

“I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw the name of the shop: THE TRUTH SHOP.
The sales girl was very polite: What type of truth do you wish to purchase,
partial or whole?" The whole truth, of course. She waved me on to another
side of the store. . The salesman there pointed to the price tag. “The price is
very high, sir,” he said. “What is it?” I asked, determined to get the whole
truth, no matter what it cost. “Your security, Sir,” he answered.

We are in the post modern era of uncertainty of everything. We are practical
survivors. “God bless those who are persecuted for doing right, for the kingdom
of heaven is theirs” (Mathew 5:10).

Prayer : Jesus, save us from persecution of truth. Give us the courage to
stand for You and your truth. We pray for those who are on the side of truth and
under the threat of their life. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen

Today’s Bible verse

“They are like trees planted along the river bank, bearing fruits each season.
Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.” (Psalm 1:3)

Are you happy and good by your faith?

Faith and happiness go together. Happiness and wellness is the ultimate
destination of all believers in God. Those who meditate and delight in the law
of God have all the nourishment for eternal bliss and happiness. God will shine
on their faces. “The Lord was with Joseph, so he succeeded in everything he did”
(Genesis 39:2). Much of the wisdom of both Eastern and Western traditions
centers on making God’s will, not my will and not to expect God to act
according to my needs and wishes. Success seems to have little to do with
happiness and wellness. Scientific studies prove that the happiest are
religious people, defined as those for whom 'RELIGION IS AN IMPORTANT PART OF
DAILY LIFE AND CHURCH/SYNAGOGUE/ MOSQUE/CENTRES OF WORSHIP ATTENDANCE OCCURS
AT LEAST EVERY WEEK OR ALMOST EVERY WEEK.’ Faith is a way of submission in
place of conquest, they would have been free from the prejudices that obscure
the religious way of life.

Dow Marmur writes, "In the 1990s, I was part of a group that launches the
Toronto Jewish healing Project. Its aim was to help individuals to deal with
life’s burdens by studying the texts in our tradition that put life as it is in
a mature perspective, thus giving it purpose and meaning. Cure, we knew, must be
left to the doctors, but affirmation of faith can bring healing by making people
whole and, yes, happy even when they are outwardly broken.”

Take our faith as a way of life , not as for instant gratification. Daily
prayer, Bible study, meditation, and church attendance are the connecting link
to happiness. Don’t stop it, but do whatever you can to enhance it.

Prayer : Jesus, give faith to those who are in doubt. Let us focus on
eternity and its joy. Remove all distracting sounds and fury of frustrations
and discouragement. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s Bible verse

“The Lord cares deeply when his loved ones die.” (Psalm 116:15)

Why do we deny death as if we are immortal?

Understanding about real life situations and who we are, may help us to cope
with terminal illnesses and death. The reality is that death is real and we
are mortal. For everything there is a time, “A time to be born and a time to
die” (Ecclesiastes 3:2). According to the Bible, death will pass away only at
the resurrection and the final judgement of Jesus Christ - the new world to
come. Sickness, suffering and death are all part of this sinful world and we
all should shed this mortal body to dust and give the immortal soul to the hand
of Jesus - our Lord and God as Stephen did when he was stoned as the first
martyr in Christianity. God stays close to us even in death. When someone we
love is nearing death, we may pass through 5 stages : 1- crisis: guilt and
anger,

2- unity: people around the dying person pull themselves together, 3 -
upheaval: care- givers experience burnout, 4 - resolution: confront family
members, confront long standing issues, heal wounds, and 5: renewal - starts
at the funeral and can involve a combination of sadness and in some cases
relief. Jesus says, "Blessed are those who die in the Lord from now on”
(Revelation 14:13)

Process of coping with death should commence even before the terminal diagnosis.
Expansion of life span is a victory of modern man but with devastating
consequences to the victor. By the time we reach 65, 90% of Canadians are
experiencing at least one chronic condition. So they have a a lot of time to
come to terms with the fact that they are falling apart. Dying slowly gives us
the opportunity to live with death - “in a gentle, calm, even enjoyable way.
Okun, the writer, whose husband suffered from lymphoma and ultimately died of
stroke says his illness lasted for a long time. She talks of her experience,
“My husband and I had a lot of emotional conversations. But I also needed to
know what his passwords were so I could access things. There is something called
chemo-brain that involves slower processing of information and a loss of memory.
The doctors don’t tell you this stuff. The oncologist is only concerned with
the tumour.” When a loved one is undergoing chemotherapy, it does not seem the
right time to bring up wills and ask questions about how they want to die. Deal
with it when it’s theoretical - not imminent.

Prayer : Jesus, let us pass from this world with hope in you - the
resurrection. Give us all a peaceful death and opportunity to cope up with the
situation of long standing illnesses. We pray for the family members and
caregivers of terminally ill patients. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s Bible verse

“ If some one has enough money to live well and sees a bother or sister in need
but shows no compassion- how can God’s love be in that person.”(1 John 3:17)

Do you know that helping the needy generates God ‘s bounty of love?

We should not selfish in any realms of our life. Life is to serve and not to be
served. The happiness and beauty of service could not be explained but could be
experienced and rewarded. We should generous with our bounty of money,
possessions and time to others. When the world is being dried in love day by
day by the self centeredness of human beings, there are some refreshing breezes
from the most unexpected corners of the world. The poor are always the happiest
and Godly. The world should learn a lot from the poor . .”God blesses those who
are poor and realize their need for him, for the kingdom of heaven is
theirs.”(Mathew 5:3) . Poor are always ready to share and love each other . They
save the world by not polluting the world by over consumption as the rich but
by sharing the limited what they have.

“One night a man cam e to our house and told me ,”there is a family with 8
children , they have not eaten for days,” I took some food and I went, when I
finally came to the family, I saw the faces of those little children disfigured
by hunger. There was no sorrow or sadness in their faces, just the deep pain of
hunger. I gave the rice to the mother. She divided it in two, and went out
carrying half the rice with her. When she came back, I asked her, “Where did
you go? She gave me this simple answer. “To my neighbour- they are hungry also.”

I was not surprised that she gave because poor are generous. But I was surprised
that she knew they were hungry. As a rule, when we are suffering, we are so
focussed on ourselves. We have no time for others”- Mother Teresa.

“Sell our possessions and give to those in need. This will store up treasure for
you in heaven!.”(Luke 12:33)

Prayer

Jesus, Bless the poor , with your bounty. Let them be the lord of sharing. Let
the rich have the minds to sell their property and share to the poor and needy.
Le us live in love of sharing and caring. Brake the shackles of self
centeredness. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s Bible verse

“Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the
kingdom of God .” (Luke 18:16)

Are you struggling to deal with death?

Handling the death of a loved one is one of the most difficult challenges of
human beings on earth. Death always leaves its mark on the most soft tissues of
the heart of any individual. Time may reduce the intensity of pain for the
time being but it may raise its head again bringing more pain when the
subconscious mind pricks when you are silenced, cornered or left alone. God
only can wipe the tears permanently. Kids are the angels send by God to
mitigate the pain of departure. According to St. Paul, "For if we live, we live
to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord” (Romans 14:8). The company of
kids balm the pain and sorrows in the time of death. David said that the kids
were the gift and heritage of human beings from God. Mourning is not only the
sole responsibility of adults but also the children.

How did grand kids aged 3, 5, and 8 share the responsibility of mourning when
their great-grandfather Zayden had died. The first obstacle was to tell the
kids. When that was done, the 3 year old looked back at his mother with
serious eyes for a few second, then burst out laughing and said, "Died means
that you can’t play with toys and you do not live in a house anymore.” The 8
year old, at first pensive, soon exclaimed, “Now we get to go to (New York)
grandparents' house. It’s family, grandparents, aunts, and cousins. Our job is
to cheer them up." They willingly shouldered the responsibility. The 5 year
old accepted death with calmness. "Why do people die? She wanted to know.
Mother told her that the world was not big enough for everyone to live forever.
If they did, then there would be no room for new babies. Then she asked if she
could put a picture of herself in the coffin. A prayer meeting was held in the
house after the funeral. The 3 year old daughter asked, "Why pray for Zayden?"
The leader of the prayer said, “We pray for the soul of the deceased but we also
pray for those who are in mourning to be comforted.”

Don’t discount the role of kids in mourning. We are all connected with the same
spirit. They can handle it better than grown-ups in. So don’t stop them from
mourning.

Prayer : “All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our
merciful father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our
troubles so that we can comfort others” (2 Corinthians 1:3.). Lord comfort all
those who are in bereavement. Let us all have the mind to comfort others who
are in sorrow. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s Bible verse

“I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you.” (Luke 6:27)

Can you live alone without the care and support of others?

We are all made up of one organism - the spirit of one God. So we are
interrelated with the same spirit and no one has a separate existence. We need
to support and care for each other, individual-wise and nation-wise. If anyone
is in suffering, we need to extend and mobilize support to the suffering
centers. The Jews despised the Romans because they oppressed God’s people, but
Jesus told the people to love their enemies. He was talking about an act of
the will and the conscious effort to help people when they are in need. The
collective support and care will create miracles in the life of the needy. So
learn how to love others and not to hate anyone. Always remember that one day
you will also be in need and plead for help. It is better to erase the word
‘I’ from the dictionary of each individual’s book of life for good.

Mt Carmel - the evergreen mountain, a source of life and beauty, a place of
biblical miracles was burning during the miraculous holiday of Jews Hanukkah-
the holiday of light. 43 people died while they were trying to save others from
the fire. Israel’s all scientific advancement in technology could not help them
to extinguish the fire. Israel needed help and the world was there for them.
Many countries sent assistance to fight the fire, such as fire extinguishers,
aircrafts and helicopters, firefighter trucks, fire experts and firefighters.
The countries who have supported are Azerbaijan, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus,
Bulgaria, Egypt, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Turkey, Palestine Authority,
Romania, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, UK ,and the USA. Israel has thanked the
supporters by saying, ”There are times when modern and technological man feels
how small he is against the forces of nature but it is precisely these times in
which certain select people transcend the ordinary and show the greatness of
humanity. Beyond the physical help, you gave us a feeling of support that was
so important.” When so many nations work together to save the lives of people
and the environment, it is a miracle. The Jewish tradition says that one should
not rely on miracles , but we appreciate them when they happen.

"Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you.” (Luke 6:28)

Prayer : Jesus, let us learn to love one and all. Give us a heart of love.
Remove from our life all hate and enmity. Let the world learn the lesson of
peace, togetherness and unity. Let the world pool all its resources to
eliminate poverty, hunger and strife. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s Bible verse

“There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John
15:13)

Are you willing to donate your organs?

Trading of human organs is a huge money making racket around the world. For
making money, all means are being justified. Live humans are on the
sacrificial table for a few rich patients. Millions in urgent need of
transplantation of organs are dying due to non-availability, non-awareness and
lack of money to meet the cost behind it. We need not die to help others as
Jesus did on the cross for our sins. There are other ways to practice
sacrificial love: organ donation is one. Of our death, the Bible speaks, ”And
the dust returns to the earth, as it was, the spirit returns to God who gave it”
(Ecclesiasts 12 :7). It is a service to the society and to God if our organs
can be used for saving the life of others. It should not be traded.

Dr. Krishnagopal, a famous heart surgeon who was trained at the Frontier Life
Line under

Dr. K.M. Cherian in Chennai, donated his organ to a patient at the same
hospital. He suffered a fall at his residence in Madurai on December 26, 2009
and sustained severe head injuries. He was declared brain dead. His wife, Mrs.
Priya Gopal, even in her grief, made a quick decision to donate her husband's
organs and ensure that they live on in others. She said, “He always believed in
serving the society and gave up a lucrative career in Singapore to serve the
people in his motherland. Having made so many hearts beat successfully, it ‘s
our wish that his heart continues beating.” Love and appreciation to Mrs.
Priya Gopal and all others who have donated/are donating their organs to save
the life of others without expecting any returns. Love others in all means to
save them even at the cost of our lives.

Prayer : Jesus, bless those who donates their organs to the patients in dire
needs. Let us understand the fragility of this earthly body. Let us live
with the great hope of the spiritual world. Let our lives be useful to our
fellow beings. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s Bible verse

“Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the father means caring for
orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt
you.” (James 1:27)

Do you believe that taking care of those who are in distress is true worship?

Service to humanity is service to God. Leaving the sick and going for Sunday
worship never pleases both the Creator and the creation. True worship is to take
care of the people. They are the Temple of God. You see God in the faces of
each and every individual. If they are in distress, then we should know that
Jesus is in distress. Magnificent churches and big mansions are mere mortars -
it's nothing but pomp and show. Even the antique value of the large medieval
churches have diminished. Constructing a Church means to enlighten/improve
the human beings who are sick and in distress. True worship, according to
James is, not going for Sunday morning churches, but true worship is what
happens when you care for the sick in your house and neighbourhood.

40 years of happy married life of Mathew and Sara saw a thorn in their life
when Mathew become sick by stroke. The burden of looking after the husband
fell on the shoulders of Sara , who was a regular church goer. She shifted the
Sunday worship to her home by looking after her husband. She was completely
shut out from the outside world. Always with a smile on her face, she took
loving care of him 24/7 till Mathew died after 14 long bed-ridden years. She
is the genuine Israelite! The world is in high demand for this kind of heroes.
See that our Sunday worship is not at the expense of pain and sorrow of anybody
in our homes and neighbourhood. "Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord!
Lord!’ will enter the kingdom of heaven. Only those who actually do the will of
my father in heaven will enter” (Mathew 7:21).

Prayer : Jesus, let us worship you by serving the people who are made in your
image. Lord, let nobody be in distress and let everyone be cared and loved
for. Let us be an instrument of love and healing to the widows, widowers, sick
and the needy. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s Bible verse

“You are God’s holy temple. And God will destroy any one who destroys his
temple.”(1 Corinthians 3;17)

Are you concern about the plight of your fellow beings?

We are supposed to look after our neighbours. The fallen body of humans beings
should be reconstructed. The responsibly of rebuilding the dilapidated body of
humanity is entrusted to the enlightened people by Jesus. “Am I supposed to
look after my bother.”(Genesis 4:9) No Christians are supposed to be keep away
from this duty of mass reconstruction. Practically we are all employed
permanently to do the commission of God- rebuilding of church. So in
Christianity there is no unemployment. The real church or tabernacle is the
body of human where the spirit of God abides. That should be unblemished in
all levels-spiritual, mental, and physical. It is the duty of each individuals
to keep their own body holy and pure by proper nourishment of spiritual and
physical food. Hungry should be fed, thirsty should be watered, stranger should
be welcomed, naked should be clothed, sick should be treated, jailed should be
visited.(Mathew 25:35,36) The reward for all these works is the kingdom of God
that is prepared for us before world was created.” My father has blessed
you! Come and receive the kingdom that was prepared for you before the world
was created .”(Mathew 25:34)

St Francis of Assisi was praying in an ancient church that was badly in need of
repair. He heard a voice from a crucifix which was over the altar. Which said,
“Francis go and repair my church which is falling in to ruins.” Francis went to
get his tool, chest, but he soon realized that the voice of God was referring
to something else. The voice of God again said, “Not the bricks, Francis, the
people are in need of repair.” Then Francis went out and took care of orphans
and widows.. The voice of God still speaks from above the altar today and say;
“Francis go and repair my church which is falling in to ruins,.” And God is not
talking about bricks and mortar but the human beings with flesh and blood .

Instead of spending and pooling all the mite of human beings for the church
buildings with sand and concrete that should be diverted to food centers, water
bodies, educational mines, medical fields, habitat buildings, and mission
fields

Prayer

Jesus, let us work for the care of your creation who are in need of food, water,
dress, education, treatment ,and spiritual enrichment. Let be the keepers of
our neighbours. We pray for those who are in the mission fields of hostile
terrain. All we ask in the name of Jesus . AmenLove

Today’s Bible verse

“Use the coin to pay your taxes and mine.” ( Mathew 17:27)

Are you tempted to evade taxes?

Christians are not the breakers but builders and helpers of the smooth running
of any institution. Fees and fines, taxes and duties that are entitled for
each individual should be paid and documented. The transparency and
accountability of money matters by Christians and Christian managed
institutions, should be above suspicion. We are always accountable to God and
our fellow beings. Charity contribution is in the blood of all Christians. But
who are its beneficiaries and how it is handled is a matter of concern in the
present financial turmoil and crunch. Donors have the right to know and
handlers have the duty to show how and whom the charity money is being
benefited. But now, almost all the charities and Christians missionaries
are under the scanner of income tax authorities and the donors because of
their mishandling and nearly zero accountability of money dealings.

In America, an estimated 1.8 million churches are exempted from income tax.
But this privilege is being abused to the tune of many millions of dollars.
There are televangelists running lucrative businesses such as recording studios
and selling oil and gas under cover of the religious exemption. There is
inconsistency even among the prominent evangelistic organizations. But there
are also the true Christians who shine in this dark, dirty and messy financial
dealings. Billy Graham for example, long ago opted not to classify his empire
as a church, and thus files a 990, in part because he wanted to encourage other
religious charities to be transparent and accountable.

When we donate a cent, we should ensure that it should reach the purpose it
was intended for, and we should have a say in it. Accountability and
transparency in all matters of life is the hall mark of all Christians and
Christianity.

Prayer : Jesus, let us be truthful to you in all matters of finance. Let us
have the mind and conscience to pay all taxes due to the Government. We pray
that all the charitable institutions who are working in mission fields, be
accountable and transparent. Let us all be generous and be blessed. All we
ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.
