Today’s bible verse

“Farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant. If they watch every cloud,
they never harvest”(Ecclesiastes 11:4)

Delaying(Procrastination) to do a work is a disease spreading like a wild fire
.It destroys all the grace and fruits entitled for us. Expecting perfect in
everything is a psychological illusion. There is no perfect time to do a work .
All time is good. Waiting for perfect condition will mean inactivity. If we wait
for the perfect place for love others, we will never love it . .If we wait for
self correction, we will never do it. If we wait for a perfect church, we will
never join. If we wait for a good confession, we will never do it. Take steps to
grow spiritually, financially, socially. Don’t wait for conditions that may
never exist.

Mathew was a devout God fearing family gentleman. Attendance in the church was
prompt. Daily two times prayer in the family was compulsory. In his work he was
very industrious and studious. He was very good in helping others. But he was
reluctant to do the sacrament of confession because he feels he was not perfect
to do so. He knew after doing the confession, he was going to do the same wrong.
So waited for a time when he could not do the wrong- to confess. But earnestly
he wanted to confess but time to come. Suddenly he became paralyzed. His brain
and body became dysfunctional. He was staying in coma in number of years not to
do the confession.

So it is the time to do what you are entitled to do. Yesterday is no more,
tomorrow yet to come, today is yours. Use it.

Prayer

Lord, we missed all our opportunities in our life. Give us now the strength and
courage to stand for eternity and to do what is good and to do away what is not
good. Give us a new heart and mind, not to waiting for anything that you
intended, we should do . All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s bible verse

“With out counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed”(Proverbs
15:22)

People with tunnel vision –( those who are locked into one way of thinking-) are
likely to miss the right road. Because they have closed their minds to any new
options. We need the help of those who can enlarge our vision and our
perspective. Seek out the advice of those who know you and have a wealth of
experience. Build a net work of advisers. Then be to new ideas, and willing to
weigh their suggestions carefully. Your plans will be stronger and more likely
to succeed. The parting or the last words of your near and dear are always worth
to follow. That are the best counsel you get from.

Here come a mother’s eulogy a mother’s letter to her children when her mother
passed .

Dear Emmy and Steve:

You are a gift. It is because a mother loves her children. I believe that mother
knows her child better than anyone on earth. On behalf your grand mother I
write this letter to you. These are your grand mother ‘s counsel.

Lession#1: Set every clock in the house 8 minutes fast.( Prepare and plan well
before you do anything.)

Lesion #2 The” dink” serve is the key to winning at tennis: a soft drop shot (Be
always intelligent as a serpent and pure as a dove.)

Lession#3: even you’re mad at your kids, if the phone rings ,answer cheerfully:
(Cheerfully do every thing, be patient always.)

Lession#4;Treat everyone like they’re important:(( Consider others as God in
flesh)

Lession#5 Take pride in your spouse and that family comes first( don’t do
anything at the expense of the family and do everything in one voice..)

Lesion #6: Give your children roots and wings(we are the custodian , God is the
father of them .Early years instilled godly values in them. Then ,when the time
is right, set them free.)

Prayer

Lord ,in our confusion and at our cross roads we need your holy sprit’s counsel.
We trust in you. Let be take all good advice from our well wishers. All we ask
in the name of Jesus .Amen.

Your ever loving servant in Jesus.

Today’s bible verse

“People cry out when they are oppressed. they groan beneath the power of the
mighty. Yet they don’t ask, Where is God my creator, the one who gives songs in
the night”(Job 35:9-10)

If you search the” brokenness” in the dictionary you’ll get many different
definitions. “Forcibly separated in to two or more pieces; break apart or sever
by divorce; separation or desertion; have been violated being in the state of
disarray, disordered, weakened; crushed by grief ,financially ruined, bankrupt;
not functioning or out of order”. Can to relate this for your life situation?.
Have you had in any time forced to ask “Why me”?.

Here you read the story of the Miracle mom- 31 year old, Janis Ollson a
Canadian woman.

When she was pregnant with the second child the doctors diagnosed her with a
rare bone cancer, chondrosarcoma. The treatment is to cut her in to half to get
at the untreatable cancer, remove her leg, lower spine and half her pelvis. .
Even she was told there was nothing the doctor’s can do more. She was hit in
her breaking point. The cancer had spread through several bones, her pelvis,
lower spine and a lot of muscle tissue. when she heard that the Mayo clinic
surgeons in USA are ready to operate, then she felt, once anyone have kids they
have no option except to go for surgery. She was thrilled and said “Somebody had
a plan. It wasn’t hopeless”. 52 days she sent in the clinic. The surgeries were
success. She is under remission now. . Then she went to the church on husband
Darl’s arm to renew their vows with her two children. She said , her husband is
the glue. She says she’s never dwelled on “Why me?” . “We don’t know when it
started…. It’s not known why anybody gets it. There’s no cause for it, no
genetic link, no cancer in her immediate family. “There’s some purpose to all
this whether I know it or not,’ she said.

She is a wonderful witness for Jesus, still there are Jobs in 21 century !

Prayer

Lord, we know now there is a purpose for all our pains and sorrows. Give us the
power to withstand it and understand it. You are renovating and transforming
our life fitted for you in our sorrows. Thank you Jesus. Heal us. All we ask in
the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s bible words

“But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we
were still sinners’.(Romans 5:8)

While we were still sinners-these are amazing words. God sent Jesus Christ to
die for us, not because we were good enough, but just because he loved us. When
ever you feel uncertain about God’s love for you, remember that he loved you
even before you turned to him. St. Paul says, three most important things in
life; ”Faith, hope and love……….But the greatest of these is love” .So all we
need in this life is love .That Jesus showed in his life by his death on cross.
Love seems impotent in the face of natural calamities, disease, war and poverty.
Still, when relationships are strained and faith is tested and hopes seems lost
Paul’s ancient wisdom of love rings true.

Horace and Louise were staunch fundamental Christians. When they heard that
their son Mike got AIDS and he was a gay, they were shocked. A soul- wrenching
tension for them- what to do with his son?. Many people profess to “hate the
sin, love the sinner .”, but few are tested as this couple. But here they took
the decision to take care of Mike in their home.’ There was no other way to go,”
Louise said. ‘We loved Mike, we loved him dearly and we still do. We wanted to
do every thing we could for him ourselves.” They loved him. Mike once told to
them “I love you too” and he was sorry to cause them pain.

By trying to sanitize illness and dying, we are in advertently separate and
isolate the people we love- and we isolate ourselves. Isolation is the opposite
of loving connection. Jesus love is inclusive, encompassing all of us.

Prayer

Jesus, sickness and the fear of sickness haunting us. The world is isolating us
and we are stigmatized. You are the only hope and love . Let we feel your
presence , love , and care. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Your ever loving servant in Jesus.

Beloved Paulose Achen in the loving embrace of our Saviour Yashua Mshiho, your
posts are a breath of fresh spiritual air. I appreciate how you take from the
Word of God in the Holy Scriptures and then apply a contempory example to drive
the eternal message of MarYah home, into our souls and hearts, wherein resides our
Lord,God and Saviour Yashua Mshiho and the Ruach Ha Quadim. We are tabernacles of
our Lord when we truely follow His Holy Gospel and let our light shine for all
to see as a city built on a hill cannot be hid.Every time we recieve Holy
Communian we literally become the dwelling place of the Shekinah, the presence
and dwelling place of our Lord.We are to see everybody as a living, breathing
icon of Christ. It is love that is the straight door which leads to the narrow
path which leads to eternal life in the Heavenly Jerusalem in the bosom of
Abraham,Issac and Jacob,in the all embracing love of Yashua and His Eternal
Father and life creating Spirit.

In Christ,
Deacon Michael.

Today’s bible verse

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you
are called to peace. And always be thankful.”(Colossians 3:15)

We should live in peace and work for peace. The blessed are those who make
peace. We are living in a world, where there is no peace. Peace start from the
soul. Our heart is the centre of conflict because there our feelings and desires
clash- our fears and hopes, distrust and trust, jealousy and love. How can we
deal with these constant conflicts and live as God wants?. We must decide
between conflicting elements by using the rule of peace. Which choice will
promote peace in our souls and in our homes and churches? God’s peace is
different from world’s peace. True peace is not found in positive thinking, in
absence of conflict, or in good feelings. It comes from knowing that God is in
control. Choose God’s way then peace rules.

Five siblings had one cent of land on the side of a highway, inherited from
their parents. All of them have their grand children with living wealth. To
share that property each one had their own special interest and wanted more than
others. Nobody is ready to sign the documents of sale till the problem of
sharing solved. It led a great commotion in the register office. Then one of the
brother stood and said he was ready to part his share to others. That was
agreed by all and problem solved, in peace.

One man’s choice of peace through sacrifice brought peace. Are we ready to do
that just like our fore father Abraham did it with his brother lot?. One man
death on Cross brought peace with God. So follow Jesus ways to bring peace.

Prayer

Lord, we are living in a world of unrest and enmity. We want peace in our mind,
family and in the church and our working places. Give us your spirit of peace
to choose the way of peace instead of stife. All we ask in the name of
Jesus. Amen.

Today’s bible verse

‘”The Tongue has the power of life and death, those who love it will eat it’s
fruits.”(Proverbs 18:21)

What you say and what you don’t say are both important .Once you say a word,
that can’t be taken back. Each word we utter has it’s on impact. If we say the
word of blessing you will get blessings . If you say the word of curse you will
get cursing. So before we utter a word, think twice, is it a word of good or a
word of bad?. Tame our tongue. Untamed tongue include gossiping, putting others
down, bragging, manipulating, false teaching, exaggerating, complaining,
flattering, and lying. James compares the damage the tongue can do to a
raging fire. Psychologically people are inclined to stand and work for the words
they talk. So the fruit they get what they talk.

Mathew is a great grand father aged 104. He has six sons. All are with their
grand children and great grand children living in different parts of the world.
Still Mathew takes bath daily in cold water and walks daily and read four
daily news paper with out spectacles and interact with locals. The 100 birth
day celebrated grandly with all kiths and kin’s. In that occasion all sons said
that , they never have an opportunity to heard a word of curse from the mouth
of their father and they all love him. Mathew always laughs and smiles and bless
every body. He has never taken a stick to his sons and grand children for
their discipline and but they are disciplined.

Mathew eats the fruits of his words. Likewise we all can eat the same blessings
today through our words of peace and love. Let the spring of lovely words
sprout from the mouth of all of us.

Prayer

Jesus, we know we get what we talk. Let our words be a blessings and soothing
for those who hear. Today, let us all enjoy the fruits of our words . Control
our tongues by your spirit. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Victor Frankl was a great neurologist and psychiatrist saved from Nazi’s
concentration camp. His wife and mother were murdered by Nazis and father
passed away in the camp. According to him life has meaning under all
circumstances, even the most miserable ones , unchangeable suffering also. He
writes-“We stumbled on the darkness, the accompanying guards kept shouting at us
with the butts of their rifles”. His wife’s thought came to his mind in that
dark night in the camp. He continues, “My mind clung to my wife’s image.. with
uncanny acuteness. I heard answering me, saw her smile, her frank and
encouraging look… her look was then more luminous than the sun which was
beginning to rise.” The truth that love is the ultimate and the highest goal to
which man can aspire. The salvation of man is through love and in love. For the
first time in my life I was able to understood the meaning of words,” “The
angels are lost in perpetual contemplation of an infinite glory”.

No life with out love. We are born in love, live in love and die in love, that’s
all life. Today, Jesus unconditional love helps you to face your pains.

Prayer

Jesus, thank you for your love. Let us taste your loving presence . Be all an
instrument of love to , love our families, works ,friends and our enemies.
Today be a new day of love in our life. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s bible verse

“It is better to take refuge in the lord than to trust in people”(Psalm 118:8)

Man always tries to change his attitude and behavior according to the
circumstances. And man is mortal. But Jesus is faithful today, yesterday and
tomorrow. He is trustworthy. Even if heaven and earth passed away Jesus and his
words never. Computer programmers put confidence in the computers. Travelers
place confidence in planes ,cars and buses. Everyday we put confidence in
someone or something. We have no second thought to put trust in the vehicles
where we travel to reach the destination We are all travelers destined to
live in love here and live in love in eternity . To reach the eternal
destination-Are you trust God more than any human being? It is futile to trust
human than God.

There was a blind girl who hated herself just because she’s blind. She hated
everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He’s always there for her. She said that
if she could only see the world, she would marry her boy friend. One day the
boyfriend donated his two eyes to her and then she could see everything,
including his boyfriend. Her friend asked her, “ now that you can see the
world, will you marry me?” the girl was shocked when she saw that her friend is
blind too, and refused to marry him. He boyfriend walked away in tears, and
later wrote a letter to her saying,: Just take care of my eyes dear”

Today ,trust in God. He never puts you down. Call his name and cling to him,
that ‘s all needed.

Prayer

Jesus our father, even if a nursing mother forget her child you never forget
us. Give us your spirit to trust in you always. Our sins , fears and sorrows we
put on you. Let, Be with us , for our journey today, to the offices ,
hospitals , church’s, schools , colleges, homes and to the final destination.
All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s bible verse

“The lame man looked at them eagerly, expecting some money. But Peter said, “I
don’t have any silver or gold for you. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene,
get up and walk. He stood up, and began to walk.”(Acts 3:5-6,8)

God provides all our needs. He cares for us. God promises that, ask you get it,
seek you find it, knock you get it open . God gives according to our needs,
not according to our wants. The lame man asked for money. But in the name of
Jesus Peter gave him his legs to use. We often ask God to solve a small
problem, but he wants to give us a whole new life and help for all our problems.
He may say , “I’ve got something even better for you.” You may ask God for what
you want, but don’t be surprised when he gives you what you really need.

In 1981 I went for an interview for a lecturer post in economics in Mar
Athanasius college of science and arts at Kothamanglam. I had had very high
recommendation. I badly wanted it in that time. But I didn’t get it. I was so
upset and worried. Even I thought of, God closed his eyes in front of my wants.
In 1982 late H.G. Mar Osthathiose Thomas guided me to Chennai for further
studies and job. There God gave me an opportunity to study further and worked as
an economics teacher with more salary and perk. Later in 1985, God called me to
priest hood and appointed me to serve as the vicar of St Thomas Jacobite
Syrian orthodox Church Annanagar. There I got the privilege to associate with
St Thomas Charitable Trust and all it’s activities from it’s inception . For
that, all glory goes to Jesus and thanks and love to those who associated with
me. That later led to start the new diocese of Mylapore, where St. Thomas
,one of the disciples of Jesus got martyrdom. When I look back, I wonder, how
great our God is? and His plan ,care and protection.?

Jesus takes care of your life from the beginning to the end. Always depend on
him.

Prayer

Thank you Jesus, for your care and protection. You know our needs today. What
ever we get today is your gift. You are the author of life. Like the lame man
who got his legs back to stand, we need your help to solve all our problems.
All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Dear Moderator,

This is in response to SOCSM digest 3455: Rev. Fr.Paulose is giving very
meaningful thoughts everyday. Dear Achen, continue doing it. What we lack in our
churh are more meaningful sermons by the priests. What we hear is the same old
messages every Sunday. People are tired of hearing the same thing over and over.
Priests as the representative of our Lord are supposed to decipher the scripture
and tell us what does it mean. I attended one Marthomite achen's sermon at a
house-warming ceremony. He talked about the meaning of the story about the
patient being brought down the opening in the roof to the crowd by dissuading
the owner of the house to be that house where the Christ was present. "Let the
neighbors come to your house to see the Christ. Let this house be the
residence  of our Christ"

We all are lovers of mundane life. Yet, the achen's have a responsibility to
dissuade us by persuations and presentations. I don't mean to put all
responsibilities on the shoulders of achens. But note that "a crowing head has
no rest".

Achen, please continue the article with your lines on prayers,

With sincere thanks

Today’s bible verse

“One of the ten lepers who was healed, fell to the ground at Jesus’ feet,
thanking him for what he had done.’(Luke 17:16)

Jesus healed all 10 lepers, but only one, out cast returned to thanks him.
Thanks is the most pleasing and rewarding word in the English dictionary. A
word of thanks, all people cherish. A thankless man is more venomous than the
most venomous teeth of a cobra. Most of the western countries have a thanks
giving day. God does not demand that we thanks him ,but he is pleased when we
do so. And he uses our responses for more grace for us. St Paul says we should
always carry our burdens to God with thanks and prayer. The unique suffering ,
God did for us on cross should captivate us to cross with thanks. This life
is not enough for us to thanks Jesus’ for his love on cross. Take the cross
and follow Jesus. Mother Teresa said thanks for the spit she got from a lady
to whom she asked for help. Good to emulate.

There was a bubonic plague in 1630’s, sweeping the entire Europe ,wiping out
villages. In a desperate plea to God, the villagers, Oberammergau in Bavaria,
Germany made a vow to God. If God spare them from the plague, the villagers
would perform a Passion Play every ten years. God did appear to protect the
village. Plague stopped. The Passion Play production began and staged firstly in
1634. Still they do the Passion Play every 10 years as thanks giving to Jesus
for his protection of their village from the plague. In 2010 they did the last
with more than 2400 performers. All performers are villagers . The role of Mary
always played by an unmarried woman. Close to half a million people attend the
production , which are staged in an open-air theater seating 5,000.

Thanks always with consistency. Don’t forget to thanks God before you do
anything.

Prayer

Thank you Jesus for all your blessings. You save us from all dangers ahead of
us. Hold our hands and lead us to good pastures of land. Be always thankful to
all our brothers and sisters. Let us all grow as a thankful child. All we ask in
the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s bible verse

“All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they
owned was not their own, so that they shared every thing they had.”(Acts 4:32)

The best way to eliminate poverty of all types –spiritual and physical is to
share what we have-physical and spiritual. What we have comes from God, and we
are only sharing what is already his. Jesus said that love for each other was
to be the mark of discipleship. It’s an indictment of Christianity that most
believers can quote John 3:16, but they can’t quote 1 John 3:16:”This is how we
know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay
down our lives for our brothers.” We are actually committed to each other as we
are to Jesus. We call it KOINONIA(FELLOWSHIP). we are committed to love each
other, serve each other, bear each others burdens, forgive each other, sing to
each other, submit each other and to devoted to each other. David proclaims
“Behold, how great and pleasant it is where brothers dwell in unity.”(Psalm
133:1) What is the impediment, not to do so?. Is it the loss of, vision- of-
eternity and resurrection.? Or Are we mesmerized by the enticement of this
mortal world.?

33 miners have been trapped since Aug.5 ,2010, 2300 ft below in Chile’s Atacama
desert. How human beings love to co operate in the face of danger? The Chilean
miners pull together. The youngest of the miners is only 19. The oldest, Mario
Gomez, is 62. He has assumed the role of co coordinator, organizing the group in
to three- man buddy teams so that they can look after one another and serving as
liaison to the surface. He also set up a makeshift chapel to offer spiritual
support. He has also established a rule that no one may eat until all have
received their food. Now the escape cage is ready to lift them up. Each of them
wanted, he should be last to step into the escape shaft. No body wanted to
separate. They created an incredible bond together in the mines with in two
months.

What a wonderful KOINONIA(FELLOWSHIP) to be followed.? Fellowship is the veins
to flow the blood of life.

Prayer

Jesus, thank you for the fellowship you have given to us to share your love
and happiness. Let be share our material and non material wealth to the needy
and the poor. May we all taste the freshness of sharing and co operation. Let
fellowship descend to our families and churches. . All we ask in the name of
Jesus. Amen.

“He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others”(2 Corinthians
1:4)

The most comfort we need, when anybody depart from us. Death is a mystery still
to the world. The pain and sorrows associated with death will haunt the people
till the end. The relief and comfort come from the friends and relatives are
astounding effect to come out from the depression and sadness. Being comforted
means not only the go away of troubles but also receiving strength,
encouragement and to hope to deal with our troubles. Jesus in person showed how
we should comfort others in their bereavement. When he saw the weeping and
wailing in the house of Lazarus, He too wept openly. Jesus showed that he cares
enough for us to weep with us in our sorrows.

Sudden death of Mary’s husband, Dr. Mathew was unbearable and a shock for
her. She wrote a letter to her friend, a priest, after three weeks. “ Thank
you so much for calling me and consoling me after my husband passed away…………….
All these three weeks I have been very strong .But somehow tonight I am feeling
very disturbed and deeply sad. .. Please pray for me, that God will give me
strength to carry on. It is hard because I am alone. I feel so down right now.
May God lift me up and walk with me.” Immediately the priest responded and she
was comforted. She wrote back. : Thank you so much for your immediate response.
It was so comforting for me. I know my comfort is only in Jesus. he is for me,
with me and in me, I too promise him that I will never leave him. And your
response has quietude my soul. Thank you so much”.

A trusted person stand with us in our sorrows and tears is ,God himself
standing with us with comfort. Are we the trusted friends today to the
depressed and troubled? Near by any body want your presence and comfort, take
little time and do comfort.

Prayer

Jesus, you are the true trusted comfort for us. You are the resurrection and
life. And you never leave us and abandon as an orphans. You weep with us when
we weep. Today we need your real presence and a word of comfort. Lord we pray
for those who are troubled and alone. Give them your spirit of consolation and
friendship. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s bible verse

“I waited patiently for the lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my
cry. He lifted me out of the pit of despair. out of the mud and the mire.”(Psalm
40:1-2)

Hope keeps us to wait for anything at any length of time. Loss of hope will be
the end of life . In time of winter, all scurrying animals, fishes birds and
plants go for hibernation, hoping to come out in the spring with more power
and life. That takes place with out fail. The children are the hope of the
parents to move on with all the trials and tribulations of this life.
Resurrection is the hope for human beings not to mass suicide but stand for
truth , justice and non violence- eternal truth. The word of hope give us
encouragement in times of trouble. We live with the wonderful expectation of
eternal life.. Our hope is not only for the future; eternal life begins when we
trust and join God’s family. The spirit of hope will make us to overcome all
our frustrations and fears.

ESPERANZA-a Spanish word for HOPE . It was the name given for the daughter who
was born to Ariel Ticcona a miner trapped in San Jose gold and copper mine
at Copiapo in Chile. 33 miners trapped in the mine on 5 August 2010. And rescued
them after 69 days. Seven times and 17 days the experts failed to find out
any life in the mine ,but hope didn’t failed . With hope, at the 8 attempt they
got the sign of life and a notes from the miners ”we are fine in the shelter.
the 33 of us”. Outside world did anything to kindle hope. They named the camp
HOPE ,where the relatives and friends waited 69 days. Temporary prayer center
erected. One of the relative explains “There are 33 of them, and Jesus died and
came back to life when he was 33,.”. Miners experienced the presence of God in
the mine. They told to the outside world that they are not 33 but 34 – God is
the addition. The miners families said “they’re convinced that the two month
long ordeal has made the men spiritually serene enough to make the last phase
easy”.

When we are in crisis or not , we need this extraordinary life preserving
ingredient, ESPERANZA (HOPE). God gives .

Prayer

Jesus, you are the fountain of hope. You are the hope for us. Jesus, help
those who live in hopeless conditions, to live in hope and face the ordeal.
Let us all live in hope for a brighter day. Thank you fore the hope you have
given today to do our work. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today ‘s bible verse

“I don’t know whether he is a sinner . But I know this: I was blind, and now I
can see”( John 9:25 )

The man who was blind from birth was healed by Jesus. The learned religious
people conducted investigations and debated about Jesus and his healings. They
questioned the blind man over and over. he did not know how or why he was
healed. But he knew that his life had been miraculously changed. Now he is not
afraid to tell the truth. You don’t need to know all the answers in order to
share Christ with others. It is important to tell them how he has changed your
life. Then trust God, he will use your words to help others believe in him.
Intellectual exercises never expand the kingdom of God. That never help people
no way except inflation of their own egos. It is the high time for more hearts
than brains.

In 1976, Billy Graham and Former president of USA Jimmy Carter went for a bible
convention. Both spoke eloquently about Christ. Then a truck driver came to
the stage. He almost mumbled in to the microphone, and said “ I was drunk, and
didn’t have any friends. The only people I knew were men like me who hung around
the bars in the town where I lived.” Then some one told about Christ and his
love. He changed. The only places he felt at ease were bar rooms and he began to
talk to customers there. The bar- tender told him he was ruining his business
and should find some other place to make a nuisance of himself. But he
persisted, and eventually the folks in the bar got attracted to hear from him
about Jesus. ”At first they treated me like joke. Later 14 of my friends
became Christians.” That 5 minutes fumbling statement of the truck driver was
the best speech in that convention.

Our life should be our message. That is the best evangelization. Word has
never taken flesh if our speech is not concurrence with our life.

Prayer

Jesus, you took human flesh to save us. You saved us from our fears and sins.
Thank you Jesus . Let our lives tally with our speak . We be the doers of your
words. Give us the courage , without any shyness, to witness for you in front of
our friends and enemies. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s bible verse

“Don’t just pretend to love others. Love each other with genuine affection.
When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them”.(Romans 12:9,10,13)

A friend in need is the friend in reality. As long as our interest is not
threatened we are ready to go any length of time to help others. That kind of
friends are not friends at all. That is love in pretention. Love always hurt.
Risk factor is a part of any type of love. With out cross there is not genuine
love. Christ showed genuine love in his life by his death on the cross. We may
be skilled in pretending to show compassion when we hear of other’s needs or to
indignant when we learn of injustice. But God call us to real and genuine love
that goes far beyond being hypocritical and polite. It demands risk ,our time,
money and personal involvement. Look for people who need your love and look for
ways to help others.

Jim and Bill were friends in the Warfield of 1 world war. Jim fell, severely
wounded ,in the trenches. The shelling continued. The danger was at its peak.
Bill wished to reach to his friend to comfort him from his safe trench. The
officer in charge refused to let Bill leave the trench to Jim. It was simply
too dangerous. As the officer turned his back, however, Bill went over to Jim.
He managed to get Jim back to the safety of the trenches. Too late . His friend
was gone. The some what self righteous officer, seeing Jim’s body. cynically
asked, Bill, if it had been “worth the risk”. Bill responded, “Yes, sir, it
was,” My friend’s last words made it more than worth it. He looked at me and
said, ‘I knew you ‘d come.”’

“Love has a hem to her garment

That reaches the very dust.

It sweeps the streets and lanes,

And it can, it must”- Mother Teresa.

PRAYER.

Jesus, thank you for your love. We are fed up with the world of pretention . We
don’t know who are the genuine friends and whose love is real. We are in
confusion. Gives us the power to discrete the real love and false love, genuine
friendship and fake friendship. Let be the real love. All we ask in the name
of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s bible verse

“Don’t love cash, be satisfied with what you have. For God had said,” I will
never fail you. I will never abandon you”(Hebrews 13 :5)

Content with what we have. That is the way for a happy life on this earth.
This we can by the power of God. Greed and discontent make families and offices,
by large the earth, a hell. Discontent minds never can be satisfied with
anything in the world even the moon. Strive to live with less. Give away out of
your abundance rater than accumulating more. Christians who become materialistic
are saying by their actions that God can’t take care of them. The only antidote
is to trust God to meet all our needs. Earthly possessions, worldly desires and
money will pass away. Paul knew how to satisfied whether he had plenty or
whether he has in need. So learn on God’s promises and Christ’s power to help
you be content. According St Augustine, God has created us for Him ,and our
hearts are restless ,until we find rest in Him. Till we find God, we accumulate
and accumulate and that would be our prophets and Moses.

Once fed up with the never ending petitions, God asked the petitioner, ask for
three requests. The man’s first request ,”I want my wife to die, so I can marry
a better woman”. Request was granted. But by seeing her funeral, he was so
sad, so he asked the lord to bring her back. She came back. Then for last
petition, he consulted widely, not to make any mistakes. The consultants
advised, money , health, immortality etc. He is in confusion. Years he could
not take any decision. Finally he said to the lord. “ Tell me what to ask for.”
The lord laughed when he saw the man’s predicament. And said,’ “Ask to be
content no matter what you get it.”

Look in to your closet, every day, count the accumulated unwanted items. One
by one, throw it away. Let the needy pick it up and use it. Then you will be
okay-a sane person!.

Prayer,

Jesus, thank you for your divine providence. We know now , you meet all our
needs today. Let be content with what we have. Let your spirit of contentment
abide with us. Our thirst be quenched by your spirit. All we ask in the name
of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s bible verse

“Go to the ant, you lazybones! Learn from their ways and become wise”(Proverbs
6:6)

Ants have no captains, managers, supervisors or rulers but they gather food
in the harvest to feed in the lean seasons. Two extremes ,we see in the world ,
work alone, no rest ,or rest alone, no work . Both are against the nature and
God ‘s plan. God created every thing with the rest of seventh day. That is the
day for rest and restoration. That is God’s order. Now every thing is in upside
down with human experiments. The end result is sickness, worry, poverty, war,
restlessness, no sleep, family breakdown, and confusion. Students are not ready
to work and they are now a frustrated stock. Workers are not ready to work and
they are lethargic and non motivated. Elders are in couchs by killing the time
and live in aimlessness. If laziness turns us from our responsibilities, poverty
may soon bar us from the legitimate rest we should enjoy. All works are holy.
Do our work diligently as it is for God. He gives the rewards. Today or
tomorrow you will reap what you sow .

Bill Gates’ father grew up with the fear of depression and stock market crash.
When His grand father was 8 years old, he sold newspapers in the freezing cold
streets in Alaska to help his family. He didn’t go to movies or ball games. He
didn’t hunt fish or boat or bike. He rarely took vacation until the day he
retired. Even after his grand father retired, he did stints working in one
furniture store. In the early days of Microsoft, Bill Gate and his partner, Paul
Allen, worked, ate, and slept in their first office in Albuquerque, where they
wrote software programs. There were no days off in that situation either. Now
Bill Gate, the richest man runs one of the largest charity organization and
provides jobs for millions and inspires the world.

“Whoever works his land will have plenty of food but he who follows worthless
pursuits will have plenty of poverty”(Proverbs 28:19)

Prayer. Jesus, thank you for the day given to us to work. Give us the health,
motivation and interest to work. Lord ,give the job for those who are laid off
and unemployed. Let everybody get the living wages. Let the employers give
proper rest and vacation to the workers. Let our students work hard. We cry for
the exploited lots. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s bible verse

“I have opened a door for you that no one can close.”(Revelation 3:8)

Jesus is the door. His door of salvation is kept opened and every body is
welcome. If God opens the door, no one can close it and if he closes the door
no one can open it. There is a logic- if one door is closed another door is
opened always. The struggle of day to day life ,we feel, sometimes, all doors
are closed. The reality is not so. Always Jesus’ hands of salvation be with us
even the darkest period of life . The problem is our perception of how we see
it. Alexander Graham Bell, the inventor of the Telephone once said, ”When one
door closes another door opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully
upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.” The
door of opportunity always ahead of us. Only we have to arise and see it. Trust
in Jesus ,that, he never allows us to tempt to beyond our capacity.

In 1994, the home for the aged destitute is under construction in Chennai of St
Thomas Syrian church. No money to continue the construction. Mean while one
rich and influential member who is working in gulf assured me to do the
necessary if I come to Gulf. With the authentic letter of late H.B .Mar
Baselios Paulose 2 ,with great expectation, I went to UAE, in the time of the
great lent. There all doors were closed in front of me, no priests and the
bishops who were there for passion week programs, not ready to co operate . The
family who assured me the help, kept silent by entertaining the itinerary
bishops. The God of heaven opened a new unknown door to me ,in that precarious
situation. Beena, the wife of Dr, Joseph(Joseph Clinic) invited me for a High
Tea. I accepted the invitation. She used all her influence for a good cause and
collected all her friends for the High Tea. Before I left UAE, the kitty of God
filled with 4 ,25,000, exactly the pending construction cost . That time a big
amount. May God bless them. Expected door was closed but unexpected door was
opened. That is the way of God.

Always trust in the words of Jesus. Look on the opened door not on the locked
door. Immense opportunities are ahead of us- kept opened.

Prayer

Jesus, thank you for the door of mercy kept opened for us. Forgive us, not to
utilized it. Now we see our door of salvation and opportunities. Let us all
enter in your house of love and light. Give us the inner eye to see the opened
doors. Let those who are living in darkness of sickness, deprivation,
injustice, exploitation and burden of running the family ,find solace in you.
All we ask in the name of Jesus .Amen.

Today’s bible verse

“Nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God
that is revealed in Christ our lord”(Romans8:39)

How to save us from the distractive elements?

We are live in a world of temptations. The temptations separate us no to reach
the goals. We take decisions to work and concentrate to reach different goals-
to study well, to live a pure life, not tell lies, not get angry with the
children, pray every day and not frown with others . But most of the times we
miserably failed and frustrated. We could not run away from the world of
distraction, like Mennonite Christian community who live in seclusion in the
places like Kitchener in Canada or Pennsylvania in USA. We could not say we
will live a sinless life if there is no temptations .Just like fish lives in the
water, we have to live in the midst of distractive temptations. 1: Not forget
the aim, where ever you are. 2:Commit to the goal. 3:Concentrate the work you do
4:Entrust to Jesus yourself. 5: no doubt to reach the target.

Andre Sougarret was the hero and the leader of the rescue operation of the
Chilean mine San Jose 2010.No one knew if the miners were alive and pressure was
on to reach them. And he knew he would be blamed if the men were found dead. He
told to the Associated Press ,how he assembled a team of experts and
methodically worked the problem that would become the biggest challenge of his
life. He stayed cool headed under pressure, he tried not to dwell too much on
the men he was trying to save. He says,” I never allowed myself to think about
what was happening with them- that’s anxiety-causing,” “I told myself ‘My
objective is to create an access, a connection. Put that in your head.’ Why they
were there and what happened, that’s not my responsibility. My responsibility is
to get there and get them out.” At last all 33 miners miraculously saved from
the mine after 69 days of ordeal. His single minded concentration and work to
save the miners by the blessing of God ,got result.

Prayer

Our Lord and God, we are distracted by innumerable temptations, outwardly and
inwardly. We want to reach our goals and aspirations in you. We know, you are
the fulfiller of our aims. Please remove all distractive elements in our life.
Let we concentrate in our work, to reach the target, that you put in front of
us. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s bible verse

“Let us not neglect our meeting together, not for it to be just ritual but
something beneficial”(Hebrews 10:25)

Benefit of togetherness.

We lost personal, one to one, contact. We are one among the crowd, so we follows
crowd mentality. No sensitivity to the needs, hurts, and cries of the people.
Let alone attitude is wide spreading. In the name of so-called privacy, we kill
the joy of family life, community life, and spiritual life and at large, life
itself. Is it our gathering in the church ,meets our needs and enriches our
spirituality and social life? or is it just like a club meeting? To neglect
genuine Christian meetings is to give up the encouragement and help of other
Christians. We gather together to share our faith and strengthen one another in
the lord. When we faces, spiritual, financial, or mental struggles in life,
the togetherness in the church will become a shock absorber. Difficulties should
never be an excuses for missing the church services. Rather, as difficulties
arise, we should make an even greater effort to be faithful in attendance.

“If Better Together” Putnam and Feldestein furnished a number of case studies
about the benefit of togetherness. According to their survey, even simple trust
in other people had fallen drastically. What can bring us together in the crisis
of a local problem?. Valley interfaith is a community effort brought basic
services on electricity, road, and health care to the mostly Spanish-speaking
residents of one of the poorest regions in USA. The special strength of V.I.
members drawn from 45 churches and public schools groups representing 60,000
families. The agenda for reform emerged from one – to- one conversations from
the top down. Through there thousands of conversations, individuals joined with
one another,” making their private pains public”. Organizers followed an iron
rule of never doing anything for people that can do for them. The power of
personal relationships was translated into a powerful mechanism to meet all the
needs of the people in that community.

Sunday mass should be translated into a genuine meeting to feed all the needs of
the aspirants for the coming weekdays and Saturday.

Prayer

Jesus, we are not alone, you are with us in all our trials and day-to-day
needs. Thank you for your electrifying presence. If we are separated from our
community, bring us together again as one family. We need a genuine church that
care, our hurts, sorrows, and pains. Let our leaders get the vision and
direction to understand and act according to the real needs of our people. All
we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s bible verse

“If you search God with all your heart and soul you will find Him”(Deuteronomy
4:29)

Solution for all your problems and answer for all your questions.

Surrender to the creator. God is at your doorsteps. Only you have to open the
door. We should not stay in our own cocoons. Come out from, own made problems,
and look at the nature and apply our wisdom. How we find God? Here, we see how
Francis S. Collins, a renowned scientist, long time head of the Human Genome
Project, and overseer of the readings of the code of life in the 21 century. He
believes that God cares about us and intervene in human affairs. He was an
atheist, then an agnostic; lastly he surrendered to Jesus, as Lord and God.

He says, one paragraph written by C. S. Lewis, (a noted scholar and writer) was
just for him, to clear all his doubts and answer for his questions. And the
majesty and beauty of creation made him to surrender to Christ.

Lewis writes,” I am trying to prevent any one saying the really foolish thing
that people often say about Him;” I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral
teacher, but I don’t accept his claim to be God.” That is one thing we must not
say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not
be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic… or else he would be the
devil of hell. You must take a choice either this man was, and is, the Son of
God: or else a mad man or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you
can spit at him and kill him as demon; or you can fall at his feet and call him
Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being
a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.”
At last Francis S, Collins made a choice when he was hiking in the Cascade
Mountains in Mississippi, the majesty and beauty of God’s creation overwhelmed
his resistance. He saw a beautiful and unexpected frozen waterfall. There he
knelt in the grass and surrendered to Jesus Christ.

Seekers, there are answers. There is joy and peace to be found in the harmony of
God’s creation.

Prayer

Jesus. The heavens proclaim your glory and skies display your craftsmanship. We
surrender at your feet by seeing your wonderful creations, its designs,
intricacy, orderliness, majesty and beauty and personally involved creator. You
be revealed to the real seekers and to be answered their questions and solved
their problems. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

With love.

Today’s bible verse

“ The sovereign lord will wipe away the tears from all faces, he will remove
disgrace of his people from all the earth. The lord has spoken.”(Isaiah 25:8)

How can be comforted in the time of our hurts, and sorrows?

We live in the world of death, sorrows, and hurts. No one can live alone. Every
one is in needs of close, loving well-knit community for comfort and solace. The
enlightened people of God - should provide that . Christian’s community have a
very long tradition of volunteering for it and the burden is up on them. Are
they do it?. The world of super speed, no time, killing luxury, we forget or
insensitive to the pains and sorrows of others. This is the way humans make
their own graves. In the face of untold miseries and tears, how did Jesus in
action? When Jesus saw the weeping and wailing of the friends and sisters of
Laser, He too wept openly. He cares enough for us to weep with us in our
sorrows. Here is man with emotions and active involvement in the needs of
people. We see here Jesus’ emotions-compassion, indignation, sorrow even
frustration. Then Jesus told,” I am the resurrection and life.” and he raised
Laser from he tomb and comforted the family and friends of Laser

Jessica Lloyd 27 year old and Marie- France-Comeau 37 year old were horrifically
killed by Col. Russell Williams -a very high ranking military officer. With in 8
months the trial was over and the final verdict came. He was sent to the jail
forever with out any parole. The police investigated the case with out any
loopholes. The community was behind it. Before the death, Jessica pleaded to the
killer,’ If I die, will you make sure to let my mom, that I love her”. Marie
cried,” Have a heart, please, I have been really good. I want to live.” The
traumatized, extended community conducted a healing circle of love ceremony,
with silence, circle round, held hands, fought back tears, and prayed. Even the
crown attorney could not control his emotions. The greatest healing, the family
and the community got, only when the justice done it by sending the criminal to
the Penitentiary. Jessica’s Brother and mother told, they had a decent half
sleep. This whole started by a simple message posted in the face book account of
a community member. Even the defense lawyer appreciated the punishment and
trial. These all contributed to mitigate the pains and sorrows of the affected.

Justice should be done. And we should stand in the side of justice and
afflicted.

Prayer

Jesus, we cry for justice. You are the God of love, care and justice. Lord,
spare us from the dark forces, prowling behind us, to abuse and kill. You be
our shield and protection .Let all our families and community, join together and
do the healing circle of love. . All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Today’s bible verse

“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory
that will be revealed to us”(Romans 8:18)

Why don’t we give up sufferings?

Individualism is the norm now. Exceptions are rare. The species of carrying
others burdens at the expense of, own sufferings are few in number. But we could
see some lights here and there. Those who have gone through the sufferings know
the joy and the rewards for it. Life is not a bed if roses. No body can skip the
pains of life. It is mere a mirage, by drugs and suicide, the people can skid
the life reality of sufferings. The faithful love of the lord has no ends. Great
is his faithfulness. His mercies begin afresh each morning and stands till the
night. He promised the restoration and blessings those who suffer. “God blesses
those who mourn, for they will be comforted”(Mathew5: 4). To live as Jesus did
it- serving others, giving up one’s right, resisting pressures to confirm to the
world- always exacts a price. Nothing we suffer, however, can compare to the
great price that Jesus paid to save us. One day all creation will be liberated
and transformed. Until that time we have to share the pain of others and let be
blessed. Jesus promises, he will pour the rain of blessings in the desert of
sufferings.

Thomas, profession in medicine, became a widower, when he was 27, in care of
three children, one son and two daughters. The families and friends insisted to
marry. But he withstood the pressures. He himself baby sited, tutored the kids
and provided first class education. He never tempted to leave the
responsibility, God entrusted. He used to say, children are the gift and the
heritage of God and we should not shirk that responsibility. The son got a job
in a big city and all the family migrated to there. The girls got married and
moved out. God selected a lovely medical doctor girl for the son. She treated
her father-in-law as her father. Wherever they traveled, the father was also an
accomplice. Never she allowed knowingly or unknowingly to inflict any pain to
her father-in-law, till his death aged 82. Till the death no one could see the
smiles on his face faded.

Do you see the promises of God to provide solace, renewals and hopes in the
midst of sufferings where, the world is at the wings to get another, as soon as
the better half fades?

Prayer

Jesus. We trust in your promises of hopes and solace in the midst of our
sufferings. Give your joy and blessings to those who carry the burden of others.
We pray for those who are persecuted and suffered. All we ask in the name of
Jesus. Amen.

With love

Today’s bible verse

“I will give you back your health and heal your wounds, says the
lord”(Jeremiah30:17)

Really Does Jesus heals? Yah.

Jesus heals all diseases even cancer. Proper treatment and prayer we need. Make
access for every one to get it. This is the responsibility of Christians. Jesus
is faithful yesterday, today and tomorrow. He healed every kind of disease and
illness. (Mathew 4:23) The same Jesus, in spirit, abides with us. Any one at any
time can get sick. Jesus will intervene in our needs. The divine healings, we
have to receive from him. How do we get it? 1: Our god is merciful, ”The lord is
good; his mercy is ever lasting”(Pslam103;8). 2: God does have the power to heal
you, ”For God nothing is impossible”(Luke 1:37). 3: He does not change, “For I
am the lord, I don’t change”(Malachi 3:6). 4: He wants to heal you,” Jesus
healed them all’ (Mathew 12:15) 5: Jesus will anoint you with his power to heal,
”He gave them power and authority over all demons and diseases”(Luke 9:1) 6: The
power of prayer, ”Is anyone among you suffering? Let them pray”(James 5:13). 7:
Faith and believe that God can heal you, “ be of good cheer, daughter; your
faith has made you well”(Mathew 9:21) 8: Hindrance to receive healings, ”If you
do not forgive, neither will your father in heaven forgive your trespasses”(Mark
11:25) 9;Psychological factors, ”A sound heart is life to the body, but envy is
rottenness to the bones”(Proverbs 14:30). 10:Gluttony,”Have you found honey? Eat
only as much as you need, lest you be filled with it and vomit,”(Proverbs 25:16)
11: Jesus is still Sovereign in all his ways,” I have been given all authority
in heaven and on earth”(Mathew 28:18).

Desmond Tutu called South Africa’s Martin Luther King Jr, diagnosis prostate
cancer in 1997. According to WHO, survival years are maximum 10. But still he
survives. When some one asked his health,” Tutu chuckled,” There is life after
cancer”. He continues,” The only way to deal with all the prayers is to get him
well”. He didn’t bargain with God for more time. His illness gave him a new
appreciation for life. Of his cancer, he said, ”It helps concentrate your mind.
There is not enough time to be nasty. Things that you have taken for granted-
the love of your family and friends, lovely moments with your grand children,
the beauty of God’s creation, the flowers- they are the same things you saw
yesterday, but now they have a different intensity. There comes the time when
your relationship with God becomes much clear. Every thing is a gift. Life is
gift.

A challenge ,to heal the sick, at least a word of prayer, and a visit.

Prayer

Jesus , The greatest healer, heals all the sick. Let every one of us get the
facility of quality treatment, and love, care, and prayers of faithful. All we
ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.
