Faith Search in New Testament – Part 1

Mt 6:30
Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and
tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you,
O you of little faith?

Mt 8:10
When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who
followed, "Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great
faith, not even in Israel!

Mt 8:26
But He said to them, "Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?"
Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a
great calm.

Mt 9:2
Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. When
Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, "Son, be of good
cheer; your sins are forgiven you."

Mt 9:22
But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, "Be of good
cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well." And the woman was
made well from that hour.

Mt 9:29
Then He touched their eyes, saying, "According to your faith let it
be to you."

Mt 14:31
And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and
said to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?"

Mt 15:28
Then Jesus answered and said to her, "O woman, great is your faith!
Let it be to you as you desire." And her daughter was healed from
that very hour.

Mt 16:8
But Jesus, being aware of it, said to them, "O you of little faith,
why do you reason among yourselves because you have brought no
bread? ‡

Mt 17:20
So Jesus said to them, "Because of your unbelief; ‡ for assuredly, I
say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to
this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and
nothing will be impossible for you.

Mt 21:21
So Jesus answered and said to them, "Assuredly, I say to you, if you
have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to
the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, 'Be removed and
be cast into the sea,' it will be done.

Mt 23:23
Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of
mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters
of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have
done, without leaving the others undone.

Mr 2:5
When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, "Son, your
sins are forgiven you."

Mr 4:40
But He said to them, "Why are you so fearful? How is it that you
have no faith?" ‡

Mr 5:34
And He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in
peace, and be healed of your affliction."

Mr 10:52
Then Jesus said to him, "Go your way; your faith has made you well."
And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the
road.

Mr 11:22
So Jesus answered and said to them, "Have faith in God.

Lu 5:20
When He saw their faith, He said to him, "Man, your sins are
forgiven you."

Lu 7:9
When Jesus heard these things, He marveled at him, and turned around
and said to the crowd that followed Him, "I say to you, I have not
found such great faith, not even in Israel!"

Lu 7:50
Then He said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you. Go in peace."

Faith Search in New Testament – Part 2

Lu 7:9
When Jesus heard these things, He marveled at him, and turned around
and said to the crowd that followed Him, "I say to you, I have not
found such great faith, not even in Israel!"

Lu 7:50
Then He said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you. Go in peace

Lu 8:25
But He said to them, "Where is your faith?" And they were afraid,
and marveled, saying to one another, "Who can this be? For He
commands even the winds and water, and they obey Him!"

Lu 8:48
And He said to her, "Daughter, be of good cheer; ‡ your faith has
made you well. Go in peace."

Lu 12:28
If then God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and
tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you,
O you of little faith?

Lu 17:5
And the apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith."

Lu 17:6
So the Lord said, "If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say
to this mulberry tree, 'Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in
the sea,' and it would obey you.

Lu 17:19
And He said to him, "Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you
well."

Lu 18:8
I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the
Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?"

Lu 18:42
Then Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight; your faith has made you
well."

Lu 22:32
But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when
you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren."

Ac 3:16
And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong,
whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has
given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

Ac 6:5
And the saying pleased the whole multitude. And they chose Stephen,
a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus,
Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch,

Ac 6:7
Then the word of God spread, and the number of the disciples
multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests
were obedient to the faith.

Ac 6:8
And Stephen, full of faith ‡ and power, did great wonders and signs
among the people.

Ac 11:24
For he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a
great many people
were added to the Lord.

Ac 13:8
But Elymas the sorcerer (for so his name is translated) withstood
them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith.

Ac 14:9
This man heard Paul speaking. Paul, observing him intently and
seeing that he had faith to be healed,

"The greatest gift of God, which we mostly need and which we very often obtain
from God, through our prayers, is peace or rest of heart. As the Lord Himself
says: 'Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you
rest.' Therefore, having obtained this rest, rejoice, and consider yourself as
rich and possessing all things."

"Until the intellect has seen God's glory with 'unveiled face' (2 Cor. 3:18),
the soul cannot say from experience of that glory: 'I shall exult in the Lord, I
shall delight in His salvation' (cf. Ps. 35:9 LXX). For its heart is still
shrouded in self-love, so that the world's foundations - the inner essences of

it has undergone both voluntary and involuntary sufferings."

Faith Search in New Testament – Part 3

Ac 14:22
strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue
in the faith, and saying, "We must through many tribulations enter
the kingdom of God."
Ac 14:27
Now when they had come and gathered the church together, they
reported all that God had done with them, and that He had opened the
door of faith to the Gentiles.
Ac 15:9
and made no distinction between us and them, purifying their hearts
by faith.
Ac 16:5
So the churches were strengthened in the faith, and increased in
number daily
Ac 20:21
testifying to Jews, and also to Greeks, repentance toward God and
faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
Ac 24:24
And after some days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was
Jewish, he sent for Paul and heard him concerning the faith in
Christ.
Ac 26:18
to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light,
and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive
forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are
sanctified by faith in Me.'
Ro 1:5
Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to
the faith among all nations for His name,
Ro 1:8
First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your
faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.
Ro 1:12
that is, that I may be encouraged together with you by the mutual
faith both of you and me.
Ro 1:17
For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith;
as it is written, "The just shall live by faith." ‡
Ro 3:22
even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all
and on all ‡ who believe. For there is no difference;
Ro 3:25
whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to
demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had
passed over the sins that were previously committed,
Ro 3:26
to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might
be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
Ro 3:27
Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No,
but by the law of faith.
Ro 3:28
Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from
the deeds of the law.
Ro 3:30
since there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith and
the uncircumcised through faith.

"Together with my King, my God and Father, I worship Him who clothed Himself in
the royal purple of my flesh, not as a garment that passes away, or as if the
Lord incarnate constituted a fourth person of the Trinity - God forbid! The
flesh assumed by Him is made divine and endures after its assumption. Fleshly
nature was not lost when it became part of the Godhead, but just as the Word
made flesh remained the Word, so also flesh became the Word, yet remained flesh,
being united to the person of the Word. Therefore I boldly draw an image of the
invisible God, not as invisible, but as having become visible for our sakes by
partaking of flesh and blood."

Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the
contrary, we establish the law.

Ro 4:5
But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the
ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness,

Ro 4:9
Does this blessedness then come upon the circumcised only, or upon
the uncircumcised also? For we say that faith was accounted to
Abraham for righteousness.

Ro 4:11
And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the
righteousness of the faith which he had while still uncircumcised,
that he might be the father of all those who believe, though they
are uncircumcised, that righteousness might be imputed to them also,

Ro 4:12
and the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the
circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of the faith which our
father Abraham had while still uncircumcised.

Ro 4:13
For the promise that he would be the heir of the world was not to
Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the
righteousness of faith.

Ro 4:14
For if those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made void and
the promise made of no effect,

Ro 4:16
Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so
that the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to those
who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of
Abraham, who is the father of us all

Ro 4:19
And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body,
already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the
deadness of Sarah's womb.

Ro 4:20
He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was
strengthened in faith, giving glory to God,

Ro 5:1
Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have* peace with God
through our Lord Jesus Christ,

Ro 5:2
through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which
we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God

Ro 9:30
What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue
righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the
righteousness of faith;

Ro 9:32
Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were, by the
works of the law. ‡ For they stumbled at that stumbling stone.

Ro 10:6
But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, "Do not say in
your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?' " ‡ (that is, to bring
Christ down from above)

Ro 10:8
But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in
your heart" ‡ (that is, the word of faith which we preach):

Ro 10:17
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Greetings!

A Member Of The Body

1 CORINTHIANS 12:12 NKJ
12 For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one
body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.
Each individual believer IS also part of the Body of Christ, which is composed
of all believers.

(This is the work of God. Not something we "join.")

Think how insane it would be for you to allow your hand to attack some other
member of your body. It's just as crazy for us, as members of the Body of
Christ, to attack other members.

ROMANS 12:4-5 NKJ
4 For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the
same function,
5 so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one
another.

Other members have different callings -- different functions. But your job is
not to oppose them -- even though you may not understand them, or why they do
what they do. Just leave that to the Head of the Body -- and do what He tells
YOU to do.

You are not the Head of the Body of Christ -- Jesus is. He is responsible for,
and capable of, coordinating all we do so our actions will accomplish His plan.
Members of a body have different functions, but all are necessary for the body
to function properly.

When you don't obey Jesus, the Head of the Body, you are a drag on the rest of
the members.

Think what a difficult time you would have accomplishing anything if each member
of your body did whatever it felt like -- instead of obeying orders from your
brain.

Revelations:a re-examination

The Revelation of John is one of the most controversial books to be included in
the bible.According to Syrian Orthodox tradition, the Revelation is a series of
visions received by John the apostle while he was exiled on the isle of Patmos.

It is not certain that, its John the Apostle who has penned the Revelation. On
the contrary there are certain details pointing in the opposite track. The key
argument provided by the favourers of a common author is that both the
Revelations and gospels refer Jesus as a ‘lamb’. Though both the works refer
Jesus as a ‘lamb’ they both use different Greek words, the Gospel uses amnos and
the Revelation uses arnion .Whilst the gospels are written in nearly flawless
Greek, the revelations contain several grammatical mistakes unbecoming of the
hand which wrote the gospels.

We also know that the church also in early times doubted the authenticity of the
Revelations. Eusebius in his detailed History of Christian Church listed the
Revelation as one of the “uncertain” books. Dionysius, Bishop of Alexandrian
Patriarchy opined that the author of Revelations is not definitely that of the
gospel. Even though the Roman Catholic Church accepts the Revelation as a part
of Jerome’s Vulgate, it also accepts the History of Eusebius which precedes
Jerome’s Vulgate by sixty five years. Christians in Syria also reject it because
of the Montanists heavy reliance on it. In the 9th century, it was included with
the Apocalypse of Peter among "disputed" books in the Stichometry of St.
Nicephorus, the Patriarch of Constantinople. In the end it was included in the
accepted canon, although it remains the only book of the New Testament that is
not read within the Divine Liturgy of the Eastern Orthodox Church.

The inclusion of the Revelations in the Bible has resulted in a predicament.

Due to lack of an authentic commentary on the Revelations, those reading it may
take a literal meaning of the text. The heavy use of symbolism makes the task of
interpreting the text all the more difficult. Many quote from the Revelation
unnecessarily to prove that what they are saying are god’s words.

I don’t know which view our church takes in the interpretation, is it a
Preteristic or a futurist view?

According to Iraneus, prophesy concerning end of times in the Relevation is
about the fall of the then Roman Empire. An article written by H.G Geevarghese
Coorilose elucidates the same perspective, and I suppose this is the official
stand of our Church. But within our Church, there are a majority of the members
who take a literal view of the Revelation. They take the Iraq war, the Tsunami
and other calamities are forerunners to the End of the World.

The Higher clergy should educate the lower orders about the dangers of abusing
the Revelation. The church should also provide an introduction to the Revelation
and explain the view the church takes in the interpretation of the Relevation in
the ‘Holy Book’(Vishudha Grandham) published by the Syrian Orthodox Bible
society of India.

"Our intellect often finds it hard to endure praying because of the straitnes
and concentration that it involves; but it joyfully turns to theology because of
the broad and unhampered scope of divine speculation. Therefore, so as to keep
the intellect from expressing itself too much in words or exalting itself unduly
in its joy, we should spend most of our time in prayer, in singing psalms and
reading the Holy Scriptures, yet without neglecting the speculations of wise men
whose faith has been revealed in their writings. In this way we shall prevent
the intellect from confusing its own utterances with the utterances of grace,
and stop it from being led astray by self-esteem and dispersed through
over-elation and loquacity."

"How does the Orthodox Church preserve her greatest treasure, that is, the
All-holy Person of the God-man Christ? She safeguards Him through her one and
unique, holy, catholic, and apostolic faith. Through the unity of her faith, the
Orthodox Church preserves through the centuries the unity and uniqueness of
divine-human life and truth; through her holiness she preserves the unique
holiness of life and truth in her divine-human body; through her catholicity she
preserves the catholicity and wholeness of divine-human life and truth; through
her apostolicity the preserves the unchangeable and continuous historical
reality and life of the divine-human body and work of Christ."

Greetings!

Pay Your Teachers

GALATIANS 6:6-7
6 Those who are taught the word of God should help their teachers by paying
them.
7 Don't be misled. Remember that you can't ignore God and get away with it. You
will always reap what you sow!

A law of human behavior is that you will get more of what you reward, or
support. If those who teach the Bible are not supported, less people will teach
the Bible. This is not the will of God!

If we expect to keep learning, we must support teachers. Otherwise, without
support, there will be no teachers. Then who will be left to teach us?
Basketball players? Movie stars?

1 CORINTHIANS 9:11-14
11 We have planted good spiritual seed among you. Is it too much to ask, in
return, for mere food and clothing?
12 If you support others who preach to you, shouldn't we have an even greater
right to be supported? Yet we have never used this right. We would rather put up
with anything than put an obstacle in the way of the Good News about Christ.
13 Don't you know that those who work in the Temple get their meals from the
food brought to the Temple as offerings? And those who serve at the altar get a
share of the sacrificial offerings.
14 In the same way, the Lord gave orders that those who preach the Good News
should be supported by those who benefit from it.

God's plan is for us to support those who teach His Word. This will insure an
ample supply of people ready to continue teaching you, and others, the things of
God. How valuable is that to you?
