SOARing Unschoolers (SOuthern ARizona Unschoolers) is a community of families in the Tucson area and throughout Southern Arizona who are currently unschooling or moving toward unschooling.

It is understood that each family is at a different point in their journey. What we all share is a commitment to move toward unschooling--to eliminate required subjects, assignments, and tests, and replace those with a stimulating, enriched environment and lots of parental support for kids in pursuing their interests and passions.

This group is primarily social, not a discussion or resource list. We aim for weekly gatherings and activities. On-list and in-person discussions about the joys and challenges of unschooling are welcome, as is information about interesting events. Debates about the merits of unschooling (or curricula) and hard-hitting discussions about what is and what is not unschooling are best left to other lists.
