Student National Environmental Health Association The goal of the Student National Environmental Health Association is to promote human health through environmental awareness. SNEHA is involved in a number of community activities including Earth Day, Clean the Bay Day and Safe Halloween for Kids. We also travel to conferences, not only in Virginia but also various locations across the country. These semi annual VEHA and NEHA conferences provide the latest news about what is new in environmental health. Some topics included at the most recent conferences included food safety, emerging infectious diseases and bioterrorism. 999933 SNEHA holds a club meeting every other week. These meetings keep the club up to date with current environmental health issues and help to keep us actively involved in university and community activities. Some topics of discussion at this years meeting included vector borne disease control, food safety, recycling, conservation and local area clean up. We frequently will host a guest speaker from agencies such as The Center for Disease Control (CDC), The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and both state and local health departments. As well as provide knowledge about a wide range of issues, guest speakers also provide an excellent networking opportunity for various agencies in the environmental and public health fields. If you are interested in topics such as infectious disease, public health research, epidemiology, toxicology, occupational health/safety or environmental protection, SNEHA may be for you.
