If by manifests, you mean the LDS online church records, then I may have a
solution. LDS change the viewer occassionally. I did not like the last
change they made.
LDS have moved the - + magnification controls to the top left, in the black
window.
They moved it a while ago from the bottom right.
The new system does not allow the same range of magnification as the old.
Also, saving an image has changed. You can not name the image to be saved.
You must rename it after it has been saved.
If this does not help, then download and install Google Chrome. It is a new
type of browser like Firefox.
I strongly suggest that you only use Chrome for LDS records as it is not
very intuitive to use.
Do not allow Chrome to become your default browser.
