SHARC-1 / SHARC-3 Repeater Controller   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #154 of 158 |
Greetings,

Both the SHARC-1 & SHARC-3 repeaters use the same type of repeater
controller.

On both repeaters, the "anti-kerchunk" function is currently
enabled. What this means is, that when there has been no activity on
the repeater for at least 20 seconds, the repeater must receive a
constant carrier for a duration of 2-3 seconds in order to be keyed
up. Once this happens, the repeater will revert back to being keyed
up instantly upon receiving a carrier.

After 20 seconds of no activity, the controller revert back to "anti-
kerchunk" mode and will not key up the repeater again until it senses
another constant 2-3 seconds of carrier at the receiver input.

The "anti-kerchunk" function is used to help reduce the number of
times the repeater may be keyed up due to noise, interference or hams
with an itchy glitch finger. This helps saves the wear and tear on
the repeater as well as the nerves of the control ops (hi-hi).

We'll be posting open commands and features of the new repeater
shortly.
