Welcome to the San Francisco BayArea Compact!

Following the footsteps of the original 2006 group of Compactors – this discussion group was created to help foster & support our efforts to:

To COUNTERACT the negative global environmental & socioeconomic impacts of disposable consumer culture
To REDUCE clutter and waste in our homes (as in trash Compact-er)
To SIMPLIFY our lives (as in Calm-pact)

#1 Don't buy NEW products of any kind.
#2 Borrow, barter or buy used.

Please start by reading the Compact Blog http://sfcompact.blogspot.com/ articles about the original Compact group (see LINKS), and the following group's etiquette agreement.

Group Etiquette Agreement

1. Stay on topics about the Compact.
2. Don't send messages pertaining to one person to the entire group.
3. EDIT your replies. Cut out the former posts and tags.
4. Assume all messages are written with a neutral or positive tone.
5. Don't provoke other members. This includes insults, religious or political debates, profanity, sarcasm, dark humor, etc. If it's "iffy" don't send it!
6. Contact the moderator privately if you feel that another member is violating list rules, rather than posting a public rebuttal.
7. The moderator will give reminders/warnings privately. If offenses are repetitive, you will be denied membership on this list.
