Hello Ish group,
I met with Lee yesterday, and my friend Laurie showed up too.
Shannon, who introduced herself to the list a while back, works in the
borders bookstore where I met Lee, and where Lee has his headquarters.
Apparently Shannon told Lee about Ishmael about two weeks ago, and now
Lee is wholly on board and working to save the world (I mean
"humanity" and the species that might otherwise be killed, and the
mountains that would be dug up, and the rivers that would be dammed. .
. I suppose the old save humanity/world distinction really isn't that
appropriate).
I love the Ishmael group! Because here we have idealists, and I
believe all the idealists I met in ish groups past are making a
difference.
I'm planning to help Lee with his project, and plan to make it to the
meeting on the 29th, and I may use the meeting as a chance to practice
presenting or speaking.
Needless to say, Lee has a wholly different approach and feel than our
earlier efforts at organizing ourselves. So we'll see how it goes.
For the time being he is free to devote his life to help motivate more
people to work on "saving humanity". (I suppose we all are, really,
when it comes down to it).
I wanted to give you all a bit of the background on the meeting.
Maybe we'll see each other on the 29th.
I do think Lee could be more loving and encouraging of fun, but he is
(mostly) very serious, and that is understandable.
What else. . . I highly recommend reading chapter fourteen of the
permaculture design manual. I'm still getting through it. Another
prize book is _Food Not Lawns_
finally,
http://puppetinsurgency.org/
has winter solstice celebrations planned
on Friday 12/22 at 530pm at OB park (ebers and saratoga sts)
and Saturday 12/23 at 530pm at Trolley barn park (adams ave 1 blk east of park)
(a procession and singalong will follow both)
Because I want to sing I may go to both.
Julia O (I think) of food not lawns and http://www.sandiegoroots.org/
has a hand in this, I believe.
