... The big difference between medieval & modern pronunciations for Evelot and Eveling is that in the Middle Ages, the first vowel sounded like French

Thank you! I'm looking at 14th century. I believe EVELING rhymes with "evening" but am unsure.

... What time period are you looking at? ... Reaney & Wilson list Sabin and Sabine as English surnames from 1221 and 179 respectively in the entry for Saban.
