Description
|
To facilitate communication and education among those members of the Society for Creative Anachronism who share a common interest in Indian history and culture.
Membership to this group must be approved by the list moderator. All memberships are generally approved, however if you are joining from a suspicious looking email address you may be set to 'Moderated' status until it is apparent you are not a spammer.
If you have just joined or are re-joining the list and have a question, please search the archives before asking; your question may have already been answered.
Please follow these basic netiquette guidelines:
*The subject line should reflect the content of the message.
*Restrict your line length to 70 characters or less.
*Use mixed case. UPPER CASE LOOKS AS IF YOU'RE SHOUTING.
*If using a "signature", it should be no more than 4 lines long.
*Try to avoid using control codes or special (e.g. accented) characters in your message: they may not display properly on all systems.
*Readers may not have seen (or may not be able to recall) the message you are replying to, so quote a few lines from the original message to establish the context. 5-10 lines of quoted text should be sufficient in most cases. Quotes should begin with the '>' character to make it clear that it is not your text.
*The quoted text goes at the top of the message, and your reply goes underneath. "Top-posting" is frowned upon, as it disrupts the flow of text on the page and may cause confusion as to what part of a message you are replying to.
*Leave a blank line between the end of the quoted text and the start of your reply. If you're engaging in a point-by-point discussion (where you might want to intersperse quotes through your reply) leave a blank line between the end of your paragraph and the start of the next quote.
Further guidelines and information can be found in various sources, including this one: http://www.enabling.org/ia/celiac/netiquett.html

Re: Working clothes?
I agree with the consensus - the pain and suffering is mostly jewelry related for me, and I get by that by using less of it, if I'm doing hard physical work.

Re: Modesty Issues
Your friend might benefit from doing some research on the Jews of Cochin who arrived in India around 550 BC or so. Natalya
