Description

This is the SCA Spinning list, for discussion of accurately reproducing historic handspun yarn and thread, handspindles, spinning wheels and other spinning tools. Also discussion of documentation, and historically accurate projects of handspun, including but not limited to weaving, knitting, nalbinding, embroidery, or lacemaking. Emphasis is on the time before 1600 and the Society of Creative Anachronism, but anyone with an interest in historic spinning is welcome.

Brief announcements of reproduction spinning tools: spindles, wheels, cards, etc. or for the fleece of historic breeds are welcome, especially when posted by active participants on the list.

Ads for modern spinning tools are not permitted. There are other lists for that.

This is a worldwide list and there just isn't room for event notices for every local general event.

If you wish to post about an event that has specific spinning or other fiber art content, please post a SHORT notice that mentions fiber arts or spinning. Such as asking for someone to teach a spinning class or mentioning a class on the history of spinning. Put in a web address or contact information for those that are interested.
Please be sure to put the City and State or Country in the subject.

Unfortunately we have been troubled by spammers. New members will have to let me know that they have at least a clue what this list is about, and not a generic join message. All new members will be on moderated status, until you have made your first post.
