Heldon is right about the wording in the SCA Exchequers handbook (not sure if he is reading the kingdom level one or the Local Branch one) in the Local Branch

That is not the case in all (most?) kingdoms. In Caid the local exchequer is almost always the person running gate. Jeanne Marie
