Due to a misunderstanding with Semeneya, we are not only canceling the
dance, but the lessons as well for this coming Friday, August 17th.  So
please don't show up... you're going to end up at a Salsa demo/thingy... not
quite sure what it is.  If you want to go anyways, go to saballroom.com to
figure out what it is.

Normal lessons will pick up again next week on the 24th and fortunately, we
have a 5th Friday so they will proceed as usual with a 4 week lesson

Well folks,
It's been a long time coming... you've heard grumblings of an imminent San
Antonio big-time swing workshop... well, here it is.  I am proud to announce
a new era in Swing dancing in San Antonio.   An era where swing dancers from
around Texas will come over and take a spin.  An era where everyone in San
Antonio will know about swing dancing.  An era where we... uh... we dance...
a lot.  As President... I am proud to announce the coming of LIOSA!

Ok, LIOSA is Lindy in Old San Antonio and is the beginning (or re-beginnings
I should say) of big workshops in San Antonio.  We're bringing in
instructors from Austin and Houston to put this on and it is... totally... a
big deal.  Much, much more information is available at our website at

LIOSA kicks off Friday night on October 26th, 2007 with the regular weekly
lessons hosted by the San Antonio Swing Dance Society followed by the LIOSA
kickoff dance. Saturday will be filled with beginner track and
intermediate/advanced track workshops and an evening dance. An
"instructors-only" lunch and workshop will be held on Sunday afternoon at an
additional cost.  Housing will be offered to our out of town guests, so
INVITE EVERYONE YOU CAN THINK OF.

Price is right now set for $50 for members (and affiliates), $55 for
non-members, but that price will be going up at the end of September so
REGISTER NOW!!!

Austin has a big workshop coming up at the beginning of October.  It'll be
good for us to go to theirs so when ours rolls around they'll come visit

please contact the instructor you're interested in directly and arrange a
time in which he/she will be available.

Remember, if you are planning on working on your lead/follow skills or
particular moves, it would be better to find a lesson teacher of the
opposite gender.  If you're working on styling or a particular footwork, it
may be better to find a teacher of the same gender.

Here's what's going on, SASDS-wise, this week:

Monday, September 24th:
The SASDS will be teaching a basic East Coast Swing
lesson at 7 pm at Sam's Burger Joint (330 East
Grayson). At about 8:15 pm, Robert James Band will be
performing. No partner is necessary; cover
is $5.


Friday, September 28th:
The SASDS is having both beginner and intermediate
lessons in East Coast Swing and Lindy Hop on Friday from 7 to 9 pm,
at the Semenya Ballroom.
(See www.sasds.org for more information).

*There will be a DJed dance begining right after lessons around
9:15pm
($3 if you took lessons/ $5 if you just come for the dance). This is
a great time to practice what you've been learning in class and a
great way to meet the other swing dancers that may not have been in
your class :-).

Hey everyone,
This is just a reminder that this is the last week that you can get the
Early Registration Rates for LIOSA (http://liosa.sasds.org).  We have the
detailed schedule posted on the website now so you can see what you're
getting yourself into.  After September 30th, the price will go up $10 to
$60 for Members and Affiliates and $65 for non-Members.

If you have already registered and have not paid, then remember, if we don't
get the check by October 1st, then you will have to pay the higher rates.  I
really hope ya'll will register, it's going to be a great event with great
instructors, and even awesomer dancing.

Howdy!

The Texas Aggie Swing Cats have a swing dance coming up on Saturday,
September 22nd!

Here's the info:

Who: Anyone interested! We love out of towners coming to our dances!
What: A casual dance to get the school year started; if you have maroon
and/or white, you're encouraged to wear it!
When: Saturday, September 22nd; Intro Lesson, 8-9 pm; Dancing, 9pm-12am
Where: Memorial Student Center (MSC) room 224, on the Texas A&M Campus
How much: $6 for non members, $3 for members and affiliates (we recognize
any swing club/syndicate/society as affiliated); we have no way of
regulating this, so please be honest about which you are (see below)

PLEASE NOTE: Unfortunately, we are no longer allowed to take cash at the
door, so you will either need to go to http://boxoffice.tamu.edu to buy
tickets (there is an online convenience charge) starting Monday, September
17th, OR you can go to the physical box office, which will be open from
7-9pm the day of the dance for you to purchase tickets. For people who will
need housing ( i.e. DFW people), please contact Luke at oeding@....

Also, don't forget about our workshop coming up with Bill Borgida, on
October 13th! You can already buy admission for that at the box office
website.
