There are coils you can built to increase the electrical length of the antenna
to work on lower frequencies. These would be in series with the S9 antenna.

The coil(s) do eliminate the need for counterpoise or radials for ground mounted antennas. They may also so the same for raised ones also. John K2JHU. _____ ...

I did come across, a few years ago, a microwave or UHF system that used etched PCB counterpoises as part of the aerial system so nothing new!!!   Thanks Chris...
