This list is an arena for all interested in the Russian adoption procedure, families who are currently adopting and those who have adopted from Russia, Eastern Europe or Central Asia. The list is open to those interested in adopting from any of the CIS since much of the cultural traditions and heritage is shared between the countries. This list is rather informal and encourages discussion of all topics in reference to Russia, Central Asia and Eastern Europe and adoption from these countries. We will discuss cultural and geographical current affairs and connect families with children who might have been living in the same orphanages. Provide avenues of humanitarian aid. Discussion of current status and changes in adoption law and procedure. We will discuss small issues like weather for those traveling as well as travel tips to make your trip as problem free as possible. Other topics of interest: Language, foods, geography, history, immigration procedures, Russian dossier, homestudies, lifebooks, ethnic Russia and it's subcultures, medical and emotional issues of the post-institutionalized child and parenting. This is an open informative/supportive forum for all who have been and will be touched by Russian, Central Asian or Eastern European adoption. Personal adoption stories are most welcome!
