To whom it may concern:

Our human rights organization "Society for Threatened Peoples" is an internationally recognized organization that has lobbied for the rights of threatened and/or persecuted ethnic, lingual and religious minorities worldwide for more than 40 years now. We are in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations and in participatory status with the Council of Europe. Our headquarters is in Göttingen, Germany.

For our bimonthly human rights magazine "bedrohte Völker - pogrom" (threatened peoples - pogrom) we are momentarily planning an issue focussing on Sinti and Roma in Europe. For that we are still looking for articles describing their current (and maybe also their historic) situation in Italy.

Therefore I would like to ask you whether it would be possible for you to write a 1 or 2 pages long article on the situation of the Sinti and Roma either in Italy, or if that would work better for you, in Sicily. You could write in either English, Italian or German. In the end we would translate it into German.

Please let us know whether this would be possible for you (or whether you know anyone who could do that) as soon as possible, as we already are under strong time pressure...
