Raised in a conservative denominal church that actually studied the Scripture somewhat; -I had a genuine Acts 2 experience at 19yo while praying very early in the morning. Having never seen the event happen to another, it changed my life & opened my understanding beyond the limiting teachings of my denomination. I was baptized as instructed in Acts 2:38 several months later. Most sects will tell you they "go by the Bible". What they really mean is "until the Scripture gets in their way."! Since then, I've fellowshipped with many "churches", but joined none. They seem unable to repent when confronted with theology that transgresses their traditions. They tend to fracture into splinter groups that then grow & repeat the same folly.
For a very long time, the issue that was the biggest in my life was the fact that I experienced "Same Gender Attraction". We all know what most sects teach about that & the 6-verses they use to condemn it. Groups like MCC didn't have convincing apologetics. For years, I asked God to give me resolution -to overcome the "problem".
In 2002, my prayer was answered & I defeated the "problem" theologically. I eventually discovered that a Jewish Rabbi (PhD) had developed similar theology. His reasoning was good. Mine was better (I used all of the Scripture).
Unlike MCC's theology that attempts to weaken Scriptural authority; -Mine does the opposite. I discovered that when you bind the letter of the Torah to the related legal principles, the EXACT Prohibition being named in Leviticus is actually against AnalSex (not HomoSex)! Saul/Paul knew this as well & it is what he was talking about in Romans 1:26-27. This view is clearly supported throughout the Scripture in both LETTER & PRINCIPLE.
