Position & Timing
Larry Silverman
I've been thinking and talking with others lately about 2 very important,
key factors that we really need to be looking at in the midst of raising up
the new wineskin ministry.
The first factor is one that I've been hearing from the Lord for over a
year now.... that of being in our proper positions. In order to carry out a
war, it does an army absolutely no good to try to advance on the enemy from
the wrong position. The United States is currently engaged in a physical
war in Iraq. It would be insane to think we could ever win there, if we
tried to launch all of our attacks from Kansas. (maybe some long range
missiles, like prayer may work), but the war has to be fought on the ground
where the risk of dangerous, uncomfortable battle exists. The planes on an
aircraft carrier are not launched into the sky from the side of the ship.
The catapults are "positioned" off the bow of the ship. Likewise, many of
us in the Body of Christ are missing it when it comes to being in our
proper "position." We are not being effective, our ministries are not being
totally used, because we're trying to "launch from Kansas," when we should
be located in New York.
Proper position may mean that we may have to physically move to a new
location. I'm currently on a road trip. I spent the night in a motel in a
small town in Southern Indiana, Columbus. This morning I picked up a local
information booklet, listing all of the towns assets. It's a town of
38,000. It has lots of neat attractions, which include quite a few
churches...from mainline to Pentecostal. But I was thinking, maybe the Lord
placing it on my heart...what a place to plant a new ministry! Just one
more to add to my list of places. My problem always comes to the one
question..."Who can I call...who will go?" Everyone is already "locked" in
their own locations and everyone I speak with about relocation refuses to
move. They've lived in their area all of their lives, they promised their
kids that they can graduate from the local school, God hasn't released them
from their area, etc. Many ministries today are stuck in the mud, they are
in failure mode, loosing ground, not going forward. These are great
ministries, with much potential, but I fear that due to being in an
improper position they are doomed to more failure, or very meager results.
Many people today are hanging on to old ministries. They have always
attended their local church, they've made their way to head usher or person
in charge of the nursery. They are a faithful church attender, pay their
tithe faithfully, are in every meeting every time the door is open, yet due
to being in the wrong position they are not being released as an apostle or
prophet. They are only functioning in a very low percentage of their full
potential, and by adjusting their position, they could currently be going
forth in the fullness of their calling.
One of the most important functions of today's apostolic ministry is to
call people to their proper positions. We are possibly facing one of the
greatest spiritual wars that has ever taken place...this one may possibly
lead to the fulfillment of everything, the physical coming of God's
Kingdom, with our King Jesus fully seated on His throne. We're not going to
be of much value if we continue the fight from "Kansas." (spiritually
speaking) when He wants us in "Indiana." Get the point.
Mix the concept of proper position with God's perfect timing, and watch
out...we're on a roll to success.
I see a vision of people hearing the apostolic call, coming together by the
multitude, of forming relational, key groups in apostolic centers. Of
mobilizing as an army, getting trained, receiving the Spirit's impartation,
and being released into their divine destiny.
Fellow apostles... it's time that we call the Body of Christ into their
proper position. There we teach them, impart to them and release them into
all of the glory God has for them! I'm feeling that the timing is now!
