Welcome to the River Basin Initiative electronic group network. This is a moderated group set up for individuals who are interested in the River Basin Initiative (RBI) - a global initiative on integrating biodiversity, wetland and river basin management, endorsed by both the Convention on Biological Diversity and the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands.

This electronic group is an informal communication mean to keep individuals informed on RBI development and its activities. The RBI Portal - www.riverbasin.org - has been up and running since April 2002. The web portal is used as the main information sharing mechanism for the Initiative. All members of this egroup are advised to register on the RBI Portal and are encouraged to post future messages in the Discussion forums on the Portal. Each topic on the Portal have a Discussion feature, so feel free to start one. All General Discussions and Announcements are to be posted under "About River Basin Initiative" topic.
