None of those names ring a bell....We do have Carpenter as a surname in our genealogy, cause my dad's sister Cleo Mae Rhyndress married Lewis Carpenter......
Also I am not sure that our surname dropped down to the spelling Rines....I do have another relative whose line goes with my grt grnd fathers brother's line.
my grt grndmother's name was also Sarah Jane Backhouse.....
So that is the closest I have come...I will see if I can contact Ted Rinness of the other line...

Hi: I am seeking information on Carpenter Rines, who was born in PA
about 1800 and married Ann Rumsey in Plymouth, PA. They had a daughter,
Sarah Rines, who was my gr gr grandmother.
Now, his name was Carpenter on all the records, and he was listed as a
boat builder on one of the census records. Actually, later there is a
Carpenter Rines named for him.
There is also a Videlia or Matilda, born about 1801 in PA who may have
been a sister to him. I can get back on the Rumsey side of the family,
but old Carpenter has me really stumped.
I am also moderator on a Yahoo Site for the Plymouth Historical Society
if any of you are interested in Wyoming Valley records. A good source
of information...come join!
Thanks for anything you can help me with.
