Final Call For Numbers.

I have a few names already, and Violet also has a few names. We need to
try and get as close a number as possible by wednesday so I can send
them to Papa Boner. This is just for planning reasons.
I would like to know who Will Make It Up; who Might Make It.
Name and number with you.

Cindy: Send me a list of who you have by wednesday evening so I can
combine them and send them on to Papa Boner. He just would like to know
rough number that will be at his place for the weekend for the faire.

It plans to be a fun weekend, so try to make it up. Remember, camping
on Papa Boners, Free admission to Norman Renn Faire, partying at
night. We do need someone who has a BIG DRUM to bring it along for the
drum jam.

In Norman, Oklahoma, just a bit south of Oklahoma City just off I-35. If you
travel north on I-35, to get to the Faire, take the Lindsey Exist going East.
Stay on Lindsey until you get to the Faire. Here's the link to the site: <

I, and many of my friends, already live in Oklahoma City/Norman (or will be
crashing with us - I'm expecting a small houseful this year - only 15
people), so aren't in need of crash space - but is it permissible to join for
the partying? If so, could I get directions? We bring snacks.......

Whooooooo... what a way to end a faire!  We got there about midnight on Friday night.  Quickly set up my tent... <my driver decided he would rather sleep in his car than set up the other tent... go figger>  then we were off to greet who ever else was there!  It was great to see that the otters made a trip up... haven't seen them since TRF.  I've discovered something about them Otter type folks... Mike runs "Ren-Radio".  If you're connected to the net, you can have Renaissance and Celtic music while you work.  The url for it is http://listen.to/renradio I've been listening all night and am bouncing along to the bagpipes right now!

It was, as always an adventure to have Chaos close at hand.  The guys were fairly quiet Friday night which had some of us worried.  Red Dragon was celebrating his birthday.  However, come moring, they were back to their noisy boisterous selves!  It pretty much drizzled off and on all day but as one lass said... "Nothing but good ole heiland <highland> weather.  A wee touch of the rain will no stop us Scotts!"  And of course she was totally right.  The faire was a blast even with the intermittent sprinkles.

Ginger aka Lark MacPolk and I even got to try out the new version of her "Wenches Drinking Song" in front of King Arthur, Gwenivere and most of the royal court.  Though with me singing along was surprised we didn't get fruited, it was well received and we had a blast!

Course when the last pubscene was done and it was time to go to camp, that was when the real fun started.  Everyone gathered at Chaos' camp for a drum jam.  It was a slightly chilly, humid night but the fire at camp was huge!  Regretfully, about the time things really started to roll, Dragon had to interrupt the fun to announce that a tornado had touched down in Bastrop... about 12 miles away.  He gave very succinct instructions on what to do in case of trouble then returned us to our fun.  However, as you might expect... after news like that people started bugging out or heading to their tents as it had started raining a little harder.  *sighs*   I stayed up for quite a while after that with a group of die hards that were determined to not let the rain ruin things for them.  But even most of them outlasted me.  I finally headed to the tent when it got just too cold for me even with the fire close at hand.

Next morning was still drizzly and cold :(.  The guy who gave me a ride down was anxious to get back home.  I think the combination of sleeping in a tent with no rain fly and another drizzly morning were all he could bear.  Anyway, we said our farewells and headed back... Though a lot of us are headed to Papa Boner's this weekend, I will miss Excalibur.  It may not be a big faire... but it has a big heart!

Reporting to you live....

Violet MacPolk

P.S.  Don't forget... anyone wanting to head to Norman Faire this weekend, let me know by tomorrow so Papa can plan accordingly.  Everyone is welcome to caravan up with us.  We'll be leaving from Arlington around 6-7 p.m.

P.P.S.  I'm going to be trying to make reservations for camping at lake bardwell for the first and second weekends of Scarborough on Wednesday.  If you want to camp with us, let me know asap.  We're gonna see how close we can get to taking over a full park!

Actually I first met you last Memorial Day at the
OSR/M'Crack campout at Lake Bardwell. If you got that
book at the little store across from Dragonwatch, that
wasn't me. I was in the bigger store down by HooDoo &
Aaron. Saw Wyndel a lot at Excalibur. His bosses,
Larry & Gwendolyn are good friends.
Not working Scarby this year. Just playing 2-3
weekends. April 29/30 for sure & other weekends to be
decided. Not working again til TRF.
