The Refugee Action Collective is an active group of Asylum seekers and Former Detainee's and non-speaking English backround people and other human rights defenders that protests the treatment of refugees in Australia.
Under present Australian laws, these refugees fleeing intolerable circumstances are facing mandatory detention. In reality these detention centres are Medium Security Prisons.
These laws mean that some refugees have spent years behind razor wire fences although they have committed no crime. Australiaa is the only industrialised nation in the world which detains asylum seekers in such a manner.
Refugees should be treated with compassion, not brutality. While the government intends to spend another $150 million building and extending detention centres, there is no more money for assistance to refugees.
The Refugee Action Collective have organised numerous protests in support of refugees. We also have collected signatures on a petition to parliament and endorsements to a campaign statement that we hope to publish in newspapers.
The Refugee Action Collective demands:
1. Free the Refugees
2. Full Rights, Not Temporary Visas
3. Funding For Settlement, Detention
4. Stop Racist Scapegoating.
5. Representative of Refugee Action Collective as a Defender of Refugees and Asylum seekers
Say Free the Refugee and no to Racism!
If you agree then join our campaign.
