This Yahoo group is operated as a blog about the design of a particular sailplane, the Red Tail Hawk (RTH).
The RTH is intended to be a USA Part 103 compatible, self-launching, high performance (for an "ultralight") home-built sailplane. It features an electric motor, controller, battery pack, and folding prop for self-launching.
The prototype has already been designed, built, tested, refined, test flown, then refined some more. It is pictured to the right.
On this blog, I try to describe the development of the prototype RTH. I encourage member discussion on these issues, and on the development of a version that others might build. I'm looking for some useful feedback, and maybe some help with the development of the new version.
Because this group is narrowly focused on the RTH design, all member posts will be moderated, and only informed, fully on-topic, and useful comments and questions will make it thru intact. No attachments allowed.
If you are a new member, it is highly recommended you read all the previous posts first, to better understand the bases of the RTH design, before commenting
