This group is a place for those who are looking for information on Radio Shack's Realistic line of audio equipment from the 70's and 80's. Time has proven many of these products to be quite nice sounding and well built. The Orion Blue Book is the source of most of the mis-information found on ebay, and we hope to counter some of that here. Ask your questions of our panel consisting of The Hunman, the Mayor of Minty Fresh, and Sol T. Dawg (Salty). All worked at Radio Shack during the "glory years"; mid-70's to early 80's.
To the right is a scan of the STA-2300 from the 1982 catalog. Touted by headbangers in this forum as being able to handle more abuse than other large Realistic receivers like the STA-2100. The 2300 was the last incarnation of the 120 watt per channel receivers, following the STA-2100 and 2100D. The biggest cosmetic change was replacing analog meters with LED's, a sure sign we're in the early 1980's. Many preferred the look of the analog meters, perhaps another reason why the STA-2080 remains so popular.
