I spoke with John Carney on Tuesday afternoon and he said David is now awake and alert and can now have some visitors for short periods, even though he remains in intensive care. The issues with his kidneys and pneumonia are slowly resolving themselves. Doctors are still hoping his heart will begin working on its own, but if not he will be looking at an internal heart pump or possible heart transplant.
Shortly after I spoke to John I got a call from David himself! I was shocked, but had texted him the night before and he was responding by phone. He sounded very weak and short of breath, but said he was slowly making progress. Said it was wild ride he hadn't expected to be on. We didn't talk long, because he tires easily, but I was amazed he was calling.
Keep sending healing thoughts for David and that his heart will begin working on its own very soon!
