As the Rainbow Buddhas, we are a group of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Buddhists, who follow the teachings of Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism. We have adopted the following mission statement for our group:

We, the Rainbow Buddhas resolve to:

1. Be a vehicle for kosenrufu* in the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) community in DC.

2. Provide support for GLBT members within the Washington area of SGI.

3. Educate straight allies on the social, emotional and spiritual needs of the GLBT community at large and within the SGI community.

4. Develop partnerships with other GLBT-supportive faith and community organizations.
