Description

Welcome to the Yahoo group Railroad Freight Cars.

Railroad Freight Cars is a photographic journal of modern railroad freight cars and the cargoes moved on these cars. Some information about the users of these rail cars is also included.

Attachments: attachments are allowed in group messages as long as there are no "improper" items attached. Attachments will not be stored in the group.

This is a group that all family members are welcome to join and enjoy.

Reporting marks CLAX, ITFX
Does anyone have any information on the owners of reporting marks CLAX and ITFX? CLAX appears to be owned by "Guardian Leasing" but I cannot find anything else

BNSF and ATSF before that got green ties from the tie yard at Paducah and loaded them into open home road hoppers and once into a company home road high side

... I've seen ties hauled on flats, in gons, and in boxcars. You're right about it being seemingly difficult getting them in and out of 6' doors, but I've seen

Back in the good old days, ties and other lumber would be carried in stock cars. Given they would be used only part of the year and cars with the end drovers
