PURPOSE OF LIST: The purpose of the RTupgrade list is to discuss & determine amongst current & former PVR-RT/Video Action end users whether or not they are/were happy with the upgrade offer DPS has made & to compare notes to determine how many RT users already received free or nearly free upgrades prior to the DPS announcement in Dec. The feedback received will determine if there are a lot of upset RT users & if so, then we'll hopefully be able to agree on a common plan of action. Since this is a volatile subject which could possibly end up in class action litigation against DPS/Leitch & since there are very likely a number of current RT users who are not at all happy with the trade up offer, or the fact that it has to be completed by the end of January 2001, I've decided to start this temporary RTupgrade list to give us users a chance to discuss our concerns with this trade up offer. If things go well & we're able to collectively negotiate with DPS for a better deal, or if it's determined that most RT users aren't very upset, then this list won't be around for very long.
