Now, I haven't been to England recently but my guess is things are normal at the
airports.
In the last month, I've been at the airports of Toronto, SFO, San Salvador,
Dubai, Bogota and a few others and nothing has changed. One airport had some
people there with masks and a sign saying to tell the people if we had a fever.
There seem to be few parallels with SARS as the symptoms are just a flu and
there's too much fear in the minds of citizens from other dangers. My friend, 61
years old, has or had it and he was quite sick and then got better...he's in
Calgary, Canada. He wasn't 'quarantined' and no one else around him had it.
From what I've read from the New York City Health Dept is that it is overblown
by the media, not easily transmitted and washing hands works very well for this
flu. Arm's length is plenty of distance so it's not really lurking anywhere
except on handles and places where hands touch.
In my thinking, the one place where we would see it affecting movement would be
at airports, bus stations and borders but other than the initial hysteria and
panic about Mexico, people and governments seem Swime Flu media weary. It's old
news and any public concern seems to have waned in the cities I have been to in
June and July.
