Description
Discussion of RTW backpacking.
In March 02 I returned to London from 2 years backpacking. I set up this Group for those interested in long term or RTW travel.
This forum enables people to share knowledge and experience on RTW tickets, destinations, visas etc. We have avoided spam postings so far. Such postings will be deleted and their senders expelled.
Note: Once you "register" into the group you are able to choose your email settings - individual emails, daily summary or no email (just check the site now and again). People using "bulk mail" filters may find messages from the group diverted so should either check their bulk mail or adjust their settings. I suggest you edit your membership to choose the NOT HTML message delivery option, this will avoid messages including banner adverts from Yahoo
Changes to settings and subscribe/unsubscribes are taking around 2 days to implement, so be patient if the messages keep comming.
When you join, it would be great if you could post a message introducing yourself and giving some background as to your travel plans and experience. The travel exerience of people in the group ranges from those who have taken multi year RTW trips to those who have never left their country, so don't worry, all are welcome, the only prerequisite being an enthusiasm for travel.
When responding you can send to the whole group or just to the sender. Please adjust the subject line if appropriate and delete parts of the original poster's message not relevant to your reply
The "Polls" section including Travel Expert "polls" where people indicate countries they have expertise in. The group has a Flickr photosharing site, where members can post their favourite trip photos. The aim is to build up an album of really high quality travel photos from around the world.

if the 3 options are 1 Take your existing lightweight one 2 Buy a new thicker one 3 take neither and buy/rent as needed then you can certainly rule out 2.

Re: SEA/China - Planning / Preparation
Yes, is the short answer. Some countries, by law, have to hold your passport when you are staying there, and only rarely waive this. Everywhere in Vietnam, for

You can withdraw USD from ATMs in Cambodia. ANZ ATMs are quiet reliable, and have various locations in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. Cambodia was a great place to
