What is it to be Filipino? Perhaps reading Dr. Rizal and thinking about his insights into the national character may hold a clue. Do we idolize him (like some super man) or do we incorporate his character into our own?

Rizal's ancestors did not have a concept of "Filipinas" as a nation so I doubt he said that. Rizal and his contemporaries like Marcelo del Pilar, Mabini, etc.
