This is a discussion group related to the life and writings of Dr. Jose Rizal, national hero of the Philippines. We ask that all postings in the Messages section relate to Rizal's life, writings, or his influence in today's world.

What is it to be Filipino? Perhaps reading Dr. Rizal and thinking about his insights into the national character may hold a clue. Do we idolize him (like some super man) or do we incorporate his character into our own?
