Description
This is a Knit-ALong of Marianne Kinzel's "Rose of England" from her "Second Book of Modern Lace Knitting" (Dover Publications, Inc., New York, 1971, page 108). You will need a copy of the book for the pattern. If your LYS doesn't carry it, you can buy directly from the publisher at: <http://store.doverpublications.com/048622905x.html>.
I've wanted to tackle the Rose of England ("ROE") for some time. I finally decided to give myself the gift of setting other pressing knitting aside and just do it! Being of faint heart and enjoying the camaraderie of other knitting fanatics, I thought it would be fun to start this KAL to invite others to share in the excitement.
Judy Gibson of "String and Air" fame <http://tiajudy.com/> graciously granted us permission to display the photo of her blocked ROE. Be sure to check her site for a tutorial on blocking your finished ROE. Thanks Judy!
The tentative start date is Saturday, September 9 (the weekend after Labor Day in the US). So, visit your LYS or shop your stash for some delicious yarn and start swatching so you'll be ready to jump in with us. All levels of knitters are encouraged to join. I hope we can share our struggles and triumphs in this chummy format.
Humbly, your list mom,
Iris

Re: roekal
It's from Marianne Kinzel's Second Book of Modern Lace Knitting, available from Dover and other booksellers. You might try your library for a copy, too.
