 Iranian FM says Israel is trying to exploit
terrorist attacks

Tehran, Sept 13, IRNA -- Iran's Foreign Minister Kamal
Kharrazi said
in a telephone conversation with his Austrian
counterpart Benita-Maria
Ferrero-Waldner on Thursday that Israel is trying to
exploit the
terrorist attacks in the U.S. for purely provocative
purposes.

He said Israel's behavior in light of the complex
regional
(Mid-East) situation will have negative consequences
in the minds of
world Muslims and Muslim nations.

He reminded that all Muslim nations had condemned
the terrorists
attacks in New York and Washington.

The Iranian foreign minister said the
international community
should prevent Israel from post-facto exploitations
that might only
serve to further complicate the (Mid-east) situation.


He added that the current situation in the Middle
East is quite
different from what it was in the past which, he
observed, warranted
"a new approach (to the issue) in the agenda of the
world community."

The Austrian minister intimated to the Iranian
foreign minister
that his government was willing to main continual
consultations with
Iran on the reginal situation.


Iran has vehemently condemned the kamikaze
terrorist attacks in
the United States and expressed its deep sorrow and
sympathy with
the American nation. It has also called for an end to
terrorism.

Thousands were still missing as rescue crews
swarmed over the
wreckage of the collapsed World Trade Center's two
110-story towers,
where 40,000 people once worked.

In the worst attack on American soil since Pearl
Harbor, three
hijacked planes slammed into the Pentagon and New
York's landmark
World Trade Center on Tuesday, demolishing the two
110-story towers
that symbolize U.S. financial might.
