Gardner/Gardiner - Rowland with a possible daughter named Sarah Eliz   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #2653 of 2996 |
Hello listers,
Hi, how is everyone. Here is my latest challenge, this is a collateral line
wich circles back around into my main line. Hopefully someone can provide me
some insight. Thank you in advance.

Moses Frances Brown (a man of color) born about 1830-1833 in Providence, Rhode
Island married on NOvember 26, 1857 to Sarah Elizabeth Gardner/Gardiner. The
couple had 3 chldren, that I have found but only 1 made it to adulthood.

Those children are:
Sarah E. Brown, born December 23, 1860 in Providence, Rhode Island
Howard Durant Brown born February 26, 1869 in Providence, Rhode Island
Edgar C. Brown born either December 1859 or January 1860 and died at 7 months
old in August 1860, Providence Rhode Island.

I am trying to find more information about Moses' father, who's name was Clark
M. Brown. Clark M. Brown I spotted on the Mormon site and this could be the same
family...

Clark M. Brown would have been born say 1790-1810, he married a women who's name
appears as Fidelia _____ (no last name yet). I found a record for Clark M.
Brown married to a women named Phila, the record reads:

1831 BROWN Clark and Phila Gardiner, pub. by Rev. Dr. Crocker, m. Aug. 11,
1831. Marriage Providence.

Phila's father was listed as Rowland Gardner and or Gardiner and the mother's
name is Anne.....but no last name.

Does anyone have anything on a person of color with the name Rowland
Gardiner/Gardner? Thank you.

Nancy-Jo
