Description

The Rio Grande Valley Amateur Radio Information Group (RGV-HAMS) provides announcements, information and reminders for amateur radio activities related information SPECIFICALLY to the amateur radio community of the RIO GRANDE VALLEY OF TEXAS. THIS REFLECTOR IS NOT AFFILIATED WITH OR SPONSORED BY ANY ORGANIZATION OR CLUB and exists solely to serve the interests of all amateur radio operators in the Valley. It isn't designed to be a "discussion group", but is intended to be an information source. Members may use it to make announcements for any radio club or organization's activities, meetings or events of interest to the radio community in the RGV. The RGV-HAMS Reflector is the only one in the Valley that is not associated with or sponsored by one of the local radio clubs or groups. It provides reminders on an automatic recurring monthly basis to its members of Amateur Radio License Exam and Emergency Communicator Exam session dates, times and locations provided Exam Liaisons provide their schedule to the Moderator. Membership in this Group is open to all radio operators and those interested in becoming amateur radio operators in the RGV and to RGV "Winter Texans". Licensed Radio Operators are requested to use their Callsign when registering. Although this Group is listed in the Yahoo Group Directory, only applicants for membership who live in the Texas Rio Grande Valley full or part time may be members. RGV-HAMS members should let other RGV HAMS know of its existence so they may join. Therefore, don't hesitate to pass along the URL to your HAM friends and prospective HAMS in the Rio Grande Valley. Please make replies to messages to the email address of an individual and not to the entire group if you only want to respond to a particular message. If you desire a reply, please put your first and last names and email address in your message to be posted. The Moderator for the RGV-HAMS Information Egroup is John Teer, AK5Z. He can be contacted at: AK5Z@arrl.net.
