Description

Welcome to the Roswell Canoe and Kayak Club (RCKC).

The urban spin-off of the Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club, we are enthusiasts devoted to participation, promotion, and education about paddlesports in the Atlanta area. Our home is on the banks of the Chattahoochee River in Roswell, and draw members throughout the metropolitan area. Whether you’re an Olympic hopeful or a recreational paddler, we’re looking for you.

Our interests

Our members paddle everything: from canoes and sea kayaks to sprint boats and dragon boats. And while the Chattahoochee in Roswell is flatwater, our interests include whitewater and wildwater, too.

Our Affiliations

RCKC may be the new kid on the block, but our parent club is not. The Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club (LCKC) is a several-time national club champion. LCKC is located on the Olympic Sprint Canoe and Kayak course in Gainesville, Georgia. It is the powerhouse in the sport of canoe and kayak and provides the model that RCKC will be following. And there are two other existing clubs that swell RCKC's ranks. The first is GT Kayak, the Georgia Tech kayak club, the 2001 US Collegiate National Champion. The second is the Hong Kong Trade Association Dragon Boat Club, a dominant force in the rapidly growing discipline of dragon boat racing.

Our plans

First, to develop, grow, and promote our club. Grassroots interest is already swelling our ranks – and we will model LCKC’s success to ensure our own. Second is to obtain a river-side facility for training, clubhouse, and boat storage. A facility would provide the ability to host competitions, events, and clinics. And third is to provide education to children and adults. With proper support we plan to have middle school level competitions by Spring 2005.

If all this sounds interesting to you, and you would like to be a part of the fastest growing water sports club in the Atlanta area, please join this group and get involved!
